Seems to be one of the only methods that work. I haven't tried the method with the symbols...it's been around for a while, but I think that method may be the quickest one since it won't require so many data points
Thank you very much! I've always had a difficult time getting Photoscan/Metashape to work properly until now! Do you have any suggestions for a course or series of tutorials to get familiarized with workflow in Metashape?
Thank you very much. The merge chunks option is unfortunately very limited. Often It just does not work. If you still have trouble to merge scan parts, I suggest you to watch also part 2 and 3 of this video "series". In part 3 I´m showing another method wich often is easier and faster.
@@svendaennart ah. the merge chunks is ok, my problem was how to make masks for an object without doing it by hand. I did not knew about making a mask from a temporary model.... thank you!
Hello Sven Great video. One question : why do you create masks on the first chunk ? Is it to be sure not to have the same background on the 2 chunks when aligning them ?
Hello, Sven, Thanks for your tutorial, can I ask a question? The model I scanned in Metashape was very clear, but when I imported them into C4D, they became very rough. Do you know what was the reason? How to resolve it?
Hello. What you are describing should actually not happen at all. If you can send me some screenshots (1 in metashape and 1-2 from c4d), I can take a look and maybe find the problem. You can send the images to Svenart@gmx.de
Hey Sven, is there any possibilty to get the photos that you used for this tutorial? I would like to follow your tutorial using the same pictures. Thank you!

It is not always possible to align the blocks. How to connect them manually? For example, I scan books, take photos on one side, flip them over, take pictures on the other side, both parts are good, but it doesn't work).
Hello Sven, thank for the tutorial but I've a probleme. I'm trying the same thing on shoes but when I "show the alignement" (after align chunk) Nothing appear/change.. and when I try to merge chunk I only have the bottom (from chunk 2)
merging chunks is only possible, if you have enough identical keypoints on both parts of the scan. Also, make sure that the shoe is not deforming when turn it around it for the second scan part. If it is not working (sometimes it just will not work) change the merge settings much higher or use the method wich I´m using in the turntable videos. ruclips.net/video/22XAIdjK0tU/видео.html
Why do we have to merge with "medium" quality ? If we want the best quality possible for the 3d model should we go for high/hightest or it doesn't change anything ?
You don´t have to merge in medium quality, I just used medium because I tested it before recording and realised that medium is good enough for showing. If you have enough time, of course you can go for high but that does not mean that your quality is better, just that the program is longer trying to align the parts.
Hi, I just sent you an email. I'd like to receive the photos used in this video, is it possible? And I wrote down my questions in the mail. Thank you for checking.
Now I feel hungry. Thanks for sharing your knowledge :)
Thank you for this clear workflow while explaining merge !
Dude thanks so much for this. It's excellent! You cannot imagine how much time you have saved me! And great video btw!

Excellent tutorial Sven, thank you! 😊
my pleasure!
what is the chunks workflow if I use depth maps as mesh generating method without dense points first.

ok i think this is the best tutorial out there on the mask part. :) man this solvs me a lot of trouble! Thank you so much!

Hello Sven
Great video.
One question : why do you create masks on the first chunk ? Is it to be sure not to have the same background on the 2 chunks when aligning them ?
Exactly. I need to create at least one mask to get rid of the background. Otherwise it will not work.
Hello, Sven, Thanks for your tutorial, can I ask a question? Can I change de xyz of the model ?
Yes you can manually move the object or the chunks.

super tutorial thanks :) !
Great Tutorial Thx
after align chunks it does nothing... what am I doing wrong. :(
I cant select danse cloud confidence , what?
When calculating the densecloud, make sure that you have actived "create point confidence".
