    Im not gunna lie, the Jim Root Cab was my first 2x12, and I wanted to like it soooo much, and while I loved it's unique look, size, and configuration, there was just something about those Orange Speakers I couldn't get into. I tried so many Amps, and played it everyday for weeks, but they were just bugging me more, and more. Like I almost have never played a speaker that bugged me so much, and I own a lot.
    It was also, just for the money that thing costs, and the fact I got it to use in the Studio, and live, I just couldn't bring myself to keep it, and I couldn't just say I'd try other speakers for the money that thing costs, as cool as the Cab itself is. I returned it, and got a Mesa 2x12, and as soon as I played through it, it was a sigh of relief, and it's been a major part of my live, and studio productions ever since.
    I dunno, like the first couple days I had the JR, I actually didn't mind it at all, but then it started to become apparent no matter what rig I played through it that the Low end was flubby, and muddy, and the high end was a bit out of control. They almost sound like playing through speakers that are out of Phase or something if that makes sense, so I dunno if it's partly the Cab too, but just thinking now(and it's to late for me to try this), but I always wondered how those speakers would sound in another Cab, and how other speakers would sound in the JR Cab. Maybe you'd be down to try it one day? Just a thought. And not hating on anyone who likes this Cab/Speakers, but I just couldn't bring myself to really like it no matter what I tried.
    Cheers bro!

    I am quite surprised by the relatively "scooped" sound of the VOTW speaker in that Jim Root cab given that Orange heads LIVE in that low mid zone. I mean, I guess that's why Jim uses V30s live (right?).
    I'll also say that a Rockerverb & V30 pair would definitely offset what Mick Thomson is doing with his tweaked Omega head and DV-77 speaker. Two guitarists working as a complementary pair is way better than fighting over the same frequency space.

    • @tyrannosaurusriffs
      @tyrannosaurusriffs  10 месяцев назад +2

      I was shocked, I really thought this would be the opposite. Also makes sense why Orange uses V30’s in so many of their cabinets. I couldn’t agree more. I layered these for a quick second and the 77 fills in that lower midrange of the VOTW really nice! Different sounds that blend rule!
