I really appreciate how close to the same setup we have. I run an Epiphone Les Paul Studio into a SC100 combo with the 150 watt redback, and it sounds good, but I'm looking at building a two speaker cab soon (1x12 on top, 1x15 on bottom) and have been thinking really hard about using a Hempback. I really like this sound and am probably going to go ahead with that one. Thank you!!

I really like the Hempback sound. I pair it with Vintage 30’s in one rig & EVH’s in the other.
I really like the versatility of the SC100. It can be paired with my Peavey or my Marshall very easily.

I run my SC100 with a 412. With g12h-30 and g12m-20’s. Great combination. Going to try a g12h-30 mixed with a v30

The G12H-30 with a V30 would be an interesting combination. Much like the celestion Hempback, the gh12-30 bring out the low end that the V30 lacks.
The speaker for this amp is the celestion Red Back 150 watt speaker it’s what Orange uses in the combo.

Orange website states it’s a G12K-150 Ferrite Magnet. The Redback is the G12H-150
I could not find a G12K-150 on the Orange website only a G12K-100.
Maybe Orange has an exclusive speaker for the combo.
I’ll look into getting Redback & perhaps a few other speakers for a follow up video. Any other speaker suggestions?

@@cbusbrian I feel I have to have a V30 cos I play Orange amps, depending on your budget & weight maybe the neo, or a G12H heritage or creamback, or an alnico cream or gold if your budget allows. Look forward to seeing what you choose. Also have been wondering what the CR120 would sound like throught a single EVM12L.

Could always use both & blend them.
I run mine through a Harley Benton 2x12 with Vintage 30s. An amazing amount of tone for the money I paid.

I too got the HB 2x12 with the V30’s.
Even with shipping it was cheaper than buying two V30’s by themselves.
Not sure which I like better, but it definitely ain’t the hemp back ones! Cool to see another fellow Tascam user. I have the DP-24, the one with midi and cd.

That is a Peavey Triple XXX model.
It is Peavey’s version of the Mesa Boogie Rectifier amps.
It’s a great amp for harder stuff. Works really well with a Boss GE-7 in the effects loop.

Celestion g12 EVH sounded best i think ( on my phone speaker)
The EVH is a great speaker.
I think it has a litter more backbone than the greenbacks
I typically blend it with the Hempback speaker
have you played it through a creamback? if you did could you provide a feedback. I am making a custom cabinet and going through a really hard time deciding on the speakers to load the cab with.

@cbusbrian thanks for the reply. The Neo / 12H/ 12M Creambacks. I have read one review that said the 2x12 Cabinet with Neodinium version of Creamback perfectly match these orange solid state amps. However, I have not found any video on RUclips where someone has tested this amp through creambacks. Probably yours is the only one that takes this approach of checking output through different speakers but you did not include creambacks. 🙁
@ Based on the Frequency Graphs (of the speakers I used in the video) it appears the EVH is closest to the Neo. Not the same mind you but close.
The Hempback is close too but I think the EVH is closer. The EVH is 20w while the Neo is 60w so you’ll have to “hit” the Neo harder maybe.
So if you like the EVH, it might be close to the Neo sound.

Mine is currently set up to pair with my Silver Jubilee. GnR type tone:
Main Volume 9
Channel Volume 9
(Just noticed they go up to 11 lol)
Bass 8
Mid 2
Treble 8
Gain 8
Front of Amp: MXR Micro Amp set to 1 o’clock, MXR Ten Band EQ set to Slash’s settings
@@cbusbrian yep ok sure, my eq is a mxr 6 band, so up the bass because the amp doesn't have alot of bass, cut the mids a bit, up a lil of treble, amp gain on about 3pm , more jim root kinda sound

An amplifier that's been out for years? Those came out in September of 2021 - not even two years ago. The CR120 has been out for years - but that is not the same amp.

im thinking of getting this. im currently playing an old JCM900 but im scared that this Solid State orange wont be loud enough for our rehearsels(they'r really loud) . what do you think?
I have a 120 watt Peavey & the 100 watt SC keeps up just fine. I have run Two 4x12 cabs through my SC with no issue. Definitely a Loud 100 watt amp.
I also have this and an old JCM 900, and have compared them side-by-side. The volume is there, trust me no worries there. The main thing I noticed is the JCM is a bright amp while the Orange is a dark amp. So to get your tones youll have to turn up the highs a bit and cut the bass back. But tonewise they match up really well. Another big thing I noticed is the harmonic response isnt the same. Solid-state amps just dont have that lovely swirly bit in the background when you hold your chords. But tonewise they are both top-tier, and youll still get all the bite and growl you get with your Marshall with the Orange.
random passer byer....out of tune. Was ready to watch. No hate but out of tune long enough for me to skip, maybe I'm the only one? in that case I' get my ears checked.

@@VanjaSpirin I have yet to try an Engl. I have a Marshall Silver Jubilee that I absolutely adore. I pair it with Celestion Hempbacks & EVH speakers & it sounds amazing.
