On this day, myself and "madman" work on our composting and garbage segregation area. Madman has sort of become our local caretaker and is great at building different things. In this video, he puts together a simple segregation bin area using scrap wood. I also end up picking a few things up in the Barangay and finally swimming again in the ocean.
Our Philippines beach land needs a lot of work...
And that is part of the fun!

Madman really is a handyman around your place. He is rockin fixing and creating stuff using wood and bamboo. Yes, separate the glass bottles, cans, plastic bottles, paper and cardboard. Well done with composting.

Suggestion for the SACKS supply for the Segregation box. Place neatly folded unused SACKS at the bottom of the NEXT sack to be used, so that the next person to empty the full sack will then set up the next sack to be used. Also, it is a way to monitor how many unused sacks are left for inventory. by the way, the Snake Plant when placed in a pot indoors like a bedroom, will help you relax, hence helps you fall asleep much faster.

Your dried Palwa (dried coconut leaves/palm) is still on top of your roof. Thanks God the orange gas tank in the kitchen found it’s safe place outside. you should put your recycled container infront of your house, maybe close to the stairs for easy access cuz sometimes people are lazy to go back to the back of the house to discard recyclable materials
I agree because most Filipinos do not have a concept of disposing their trash properly. People just throw their trash like, plastic bottles, wraps, etc anywhere. They will not go out of their way to look for a trash bin. You will have to train your home buddies to develop the habit of disposing their trash properly. You may even have to put signs in your property so that all your local guests will know you have a house rule to be followed. 😉

Just finished watching your blog today and noticed Madman's new project - segregation bins which is really great. He's such a creative/productive person it will be much better to place it away from your main house and covered perhaps by your property fence. Those bins if left uncovered could be inviting for pest to come over especially ants, mosquitos, roach,..imagine if it is attached to your house....peace out bro....

For recycling bins you should probably have dedicated sacks for: Paper and Card, Plastic, Metal (inc. Foil), Glass. In the kitchen you might need a a couple of receptacles (with lids) for food waste to be composted. Check internet for what can and should not be composted. I have never composted in a hole.

Maybe label those sacks for garbage segregation then you can cover it with plywood with handle. Oh yes,the compost pit as well. I miss tuba very much.

Snake plants produce oxygen at night and are good near the bedroom or places like the bathroom. They can tolerate less light and are really good for removing toxins from the air. They are beautiful to put in the corners of your home, are relatively easy to take care of and perfect for purifying the air. I hope you guys propogate the one you found!
Do some compost file too that later become your raised bed garden or have you heard about hugelkulture, if you do a compost pit, you may have to dig out the compost to use it.

Snake Plants is good for indoor. It enhance quality of air in your house

Shout out for transferring the snake plant. It may look pretty common but it is a very good anti-oxidant plant.
Kulas, have madman device a lid over your segregation collection box to get the flying raisin out and also to keep them dry from rain. The lid should be in an angle so water flows easily off it and should also be vented.
Great job going in this route of garbage segregation. Hopefully, more Filipinos will follow suit. Here in Switzerland, we segregate trash in designated collection points around our commune by 1 general garbage; 2 pet bottles; 3 glass; 4 paper; 5 aluminum; 6 batteries; 7 coffee capsules; 8 oil; 9 other bottles (detergents, fresh milk bottles); 11 compost (must be in special compostable bags); and 11 clothes/shoes for donations. (I hope I didn't miss anything) All products sold in Swiss stores have symbols on the labels so we know how to dispose them properly. There are special garbage bags they require citizens to use in some cantons. There is a routine schedule for when the garbage collector trucks come to our commune to pick up big electrical appliances; huge furniture and other bulky items. We dispose our small electrical appliances at ANY appliance store. For expired medicines, we give it to ANY pharmacy so they can dispose it properly. Switzerland garbage collection is very organized, efficient and practical. They take it very seriously, and if caught, you will pay a heavy fine.

Kulas, that is my drink ( tuba) when I was small my father early in the morning in the mountain we farm gave me. I still remember the sweetness of taste as you can taste it as well. You made me remember my younger times.👍♥️

Here in the philippines,, we called it material recovery facility put all solid waste materials such as bottles, papers, tin cans, metal etc.
Biodegradable put in compost facility for fertilizer.
Snake plant very expensive here in Canada. That size of plant that will cost about C$100.00 . Also Kulas plant it on a big pot and bring it inside your house for a good air filter.
in compost pit, it's good as an organic fertilizer for the backyard plants... madman, the top lumber becomes weaker (really) because of two groves. ... anyway just observation, put two vertical poste each side on basura bin... the least is three segregation.... power on to all !

Kulas just a bit of advice regarding your solar system. I think it’s better to connect it into the grid so if you are not using all your energy then you are helping the grid. You should talk the electricity board on how to do it. Well done and just continue what you doing.. more power and regards to all your team. Watching from England..

Hi Kulas! Snake plant is good because it can absorb a cancer-causing pollutants. It is better to put some inside your house or even in your garden.
That is great you have a compost place and and separating recyclable items. I recycle as much as I can here but living in an apartment there is no compost bins here just trash and recycle bins. It is too bad people here can't read what goes into the bin. A glass or two?? looks like you are having a whole jug hahahaha

Try placing used coffee grounds where the ants live, it keeps them away and the the coffee grounds is good for the soil.
You guys must cover the pit for green scraps for safety of dogs or other animals not to fall on the hole. Safety first brothers.
In-ground composting is a wonderful idea. Composting period is good. Just be aware that compost can smell and can attract pests like mice and flies. Eeeek! 😬😂
