68 teams make it out the 362 division 1 teams in basketball so if you really want to model the NCAA Tournament you would have to scale it down to 24 and essentially have the FCS plsyoffs and make sure all 9 conference champs have an auto bid
I think with any playoff structure, no matter how thought out it could be, you're going to have a lot of people complain at how seeding should work or Conference champions with everything else. That's just the unfortunate nature.
It’s how almost every major playoff system works though. Arizona State showed it doesn’t really matter either. SEC boys can complain all they want. It’s CFP to determine a national champ of the entire country, not the SEC invite and no SEC team made the final either lol.
Imagine a 9 game season with 8 conference games, conference championship weekend, and then this. That would be hilarious and we could probably have weekday playoff games which would be insane.
Given that UGA barely scraped by GT, Miss State, and Kentucky last year, and Bama lost to Vandy and Oklahoma, and was in a close contest with USF until the very end, it is definitely possible.
Somewhere in an alternate universe, this all happened. Imagine how insane it would be on ESPN/SEC Twitter if Bama lost to Marshall, or how they would fire James Franklin immediately after losing to Georgia Southern. It would be beautiful
4:26 How is average rank of team's opponent calculated? I looked through the "best" and "worst" teams of all time videos, but it wasnt described in any more detail.
4:43 If that's a significant issue, you could just use the square root (or some other negative exponent) of the offensive and defensive turnover values in The Formula. That would reduce their effect on the efficiency score.
The top left region was absolutely STACKED!!! Oregon, Notre Dame and Arizona State. 3 of the quarter final teams from the IRL Playoff this year. No other teams stood a chance against the team to come out of that region
11 game season. 9 conference games + 1G5 + 1P4. 12th game is conference champ week + a bidding system for resume building matchups. Bad teams that have no chance of making the bracket can opt to play a final game in hopes of quailifying for a bowl or end their season. First round is top 16 teams 5 top conference champions higher seed hosts. Loser of 1st round games get put into bowl game pool. Championship always at rose bowl. Always on 1st of january.
Why always the rose bowl? I understand its history and stuff but I feel it would unfairly favor a California team if they were to make it. I don’t see why we could have the quarters and semis as ny6 bowls and then the natty be a home game for the higher seed or the teams make some sort of agreement a week in advance.
Not being American, the idea of qualifying for a championship playoff when you weren't the best team in your conference is just odd to me. The ideal playoff is all the conference champions, seeded by win-loss record. If you don't win a conference you don't qualify. If Notre Dame don't like that there is an obvious thing they can do about it
The thing about that is with bloated conferences you can't play every team in your conference. Take the Big Ten for example, with 18 teams you can only play 9/17 conference opponents which means that conference schedules can have very different difficulties. For example Indiana nearly made the Big Ten championship with an incredibly easy schedule and they would of made it had Penn State lost to Minnesota in the 2nd to last week of the season (a game Penn State only won 26-25). It is very possible for a team to go 8-1 against a grueling conference schedule and miss out because 2 9-0 teams didn't play each other and had much easier schedules. I think I would have agreed with you prior to conferences getting too big.
I understand the reasoning. I also think every team in a conference should play every other team. If that means playing 17 games, tough. Maybe your conference shouldn't be so big.
68 teams? Nah. Too many. 16 -20 is the max . 12 is already alot. For me, I'm tired of every sport league making up new playoff formats, and adding more playoff teams , just to get more revenue. Nfl , 17 games now. Soon 2/3 of the league will make playoffs. Same with MLB and NBA. It's getting old. All sports have become caricatures of themselves
This aint it chief. There has to be an aspect of deserving to be able to play for a national championship. The 4 team playoff was fine, should’ve of only been expanded to 6.
4 was terrible, as perfectly demonstrated by the last year of its usage. 12 is good. It allows G5 Teams to have a legitimate shot at the playoffs, while also allowing for top level teams to round it out.
@@Ageofpoland1997no, you have to have auto bids because G5 teams deserve a shot at the title. They actually sued and won against the NCAA many years ago to even get that shot in the BCS Era.

Bama’s athletic director is furiously taking notes rn
Edit: Nvm they lost here too lmao
He already wrote down notes
18:32 only on paper can the Oregon Ducks win a national championship
They should change to the decoys because they only “look” the part 😂
If this happend in real life, the dopamine i would get from all this nonsense would put me in a coma.
I kinda wana see it though.

The fact that this GUY SAID “THE OTHER BEARCATS” YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME 👁️👄👁️13:46
Kansas made their run because someone said basketball tournament
Listen while we drive!
same!

even in imaginationland, the aggies are still incapable of winning a national title in football.
furk truly reigns supreme.
Fuck it make a 134 team playoff
Ohhhh yes! The Formula™ is back baby!!!
I genuinely think they should just copy the FCS format
That would never work because it involves too much common sense.
they should just replace the whole season with a 134-team playoff
9:32 bruh if that happened god the amount of hot takes😂😂😂

I love that Doctah Mantis Toboggan from Philadelphia is a supporter.
Make until Temple is in the playoffs
Nice idea but all the simulations were just for a SPOILER ALERT:
big team to win
4:26 How is average rank of team's opponent calculated?

This would be awesome!
not me literally doing this exact same video 2 months ago 😶🌫
im glad im not the only person to have thought of this awful idea
Great way to start Monday after having the Eagles win!
Great video
Let's be honest, this is the only way Oregon will ever win anything
Kansas Cinderella rum will be studied for decades
The only national championship Oregon will ever win
It needs to be the top 25. That’s the same percentage of teams that march madness has
I really hope this video was made with satire in mind.
it 100% was
Miami…losing to navy? Never
How don’t you have a million subs already
It's not the tournament ESPN wanted, but it is the tournament WE wanted.
We got the formula in 2025. It’s a good year
Totally want to see this but with all of The Natty Winners of like the last 25 years that would be awesome

Reminds me of an average CFB 25 dynasty simulation
SEC can’t even win in the hypothetical matchups 😭😭
So what your saying is Nebraska should've made it to the CFP this year
Stopped watching after Nebraska lost to BYU.
He sounds like moist with a deep voice filter on
sicem bears baby
You gotta get a new system 😂😂😂😂
Go ducks baby
:o

The NBA's new format is just trash. 10 teams make the playoffs.
Ohio State won, so now it needs fixed? Come on! 😂

4 is too few but anything more than 12 is too many. There are several years where you can't narrow it to just 4 teams.
I agree entirely. 6 is perfect in my opinion but 8 might make the most people happy but just the top 8 teams no auto bids

@troybaxter why should they if there good like Cincinnati they will make it naturally
