Yes correct mate, more for 17.5t and 13.5t spec racing to get your timing set for correct amp draw for your specific brand of motor, Drake did a video on a hobbywing 17.5t motor and the most efficient amp draw for that particular motor is around 6.4a, so you can keep adjusting the end bell and retesting until you get to that on the analyzer.
Also good to test if motors still work 😊👍🏻
The main use case for these is that you can check the amp draw and increase the timing until the amps hit the max you want (which translates to how hot the motor will get) and thus get the best performance possible out of the motor via timing, while keeping the amps/heat at a safe level. It removes all the guess work on setting timing.
Pretty cool
I use something like this (Lemonhobby watt meter and power analyzer) to determine the current draw when setting up a new build or changing gearing (or props in the case of airplanes) to make sure I’m safely within the ESC and motor specs. It also helps me to determine the approximate power output in my electric aircraft where the “watts of power per pound of aircraft” is important. I paid $20 for it…not sure what they cost these days. Very handy.
It seems like it would be best for drones or anything with multiple motors so you can ensure that you have for Motors that are as close to the same when building
Yeah this is for those people that are more serious spec racers. Probably not worth for the everyday club racer but once you have one everyone in pits will ask you to use it lol. You will make a lot of friends 😂
I have one. Comes in handy to see if motor spec are what are claimed by the manufacturer, plus see if there's any performance drop on a motor from when you got it new. Plus with spec racing, it comes in handy to measure the KV rating so you can work out your final drive ratio for a track.
My 3s arrma s and 4s Arrma motors seem to come out screaming good when first started and after a few minutes they seem to be dialed back . Prob from heat buildup . I could be wrong all together . It just seems not as much ooopmph after a couple minutes but they still haul azz
For finding the hot rod motors and checking function. Its a dyno.
Agreed
The whole buying a bunch of motors thing is so real from what I hear
It will be a great tool for airplanes. Testing props
I used to use the Bud's motor dyno back in the 90's when I raced 🏁 which was similar.
I won one at a track raffle a while back I’ve used it a couple times. I probably wouldn’t have bought one but like you said it is useful if you’re picking the difference between say 17.5T motors or playing with base motor timing.
That's pretty cool I don't know what that means but that's cool!😂😂😂 that thing is pretty neat
Hot Track RC has a great video on it's use.
I bought one last week
Thumbs 👍 pretty cool
Read the directions 😂
They are nice to have, but I wish they had the functions of the old motor dyno's of the late 90' early 2k. Being able to run them through the PC for graphs and saving the data per motor was nice.
Good to have
Its a useful tool. I will be getting one in the near future
Yay new video
I use mine to test motor kv for my carpet racer. Once the kv starts to drop I know it’s time for a new motor. It’s so good for adjusting timing to find the sweet spot of rpm vs amperage.
Hey Mark what are your thoughts about the tariffs between us an China you think it would bother the R/C hobby since everything comes from China.!?
Don't mistake people buying 10 brushed motors with brushless motors. 😂
Like an engine dyno for rc engines?
