Wonderful opera; I was unaware of von Flotow and this opera, wow. This performance seems anyway to be registered and the player sing in playback as it looks; anyway wonderful music. For some reasons it remember me a little bit Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore
This looks like a delightful performance and I am almost grief stricken because there are no subtitles, nor can I find any librettos to match this performance. I have a lovely CD, but alas it came without a libretto, so it’s od no help. I may be reduced to buying an LP just to get a libretto.
I have loved this opera since I "discovered" excerpts from it including sung by Nicolai Gedda and Mario Lanza. It is the first opera audio recording I ever purchased, but I do not have a video recording. I would love this recording. I didn't see all of this but came across it tonight by accident.
Very fond of Flotow’s operas even though not a great opera fan. There are very nice passages in both Martha and Allesandro Stradella. Not sure why his works have lost popularity but I believe they will survive on their merits

Even though I prefer the Italian language original (I think von Flotow composed it originally to an Italian text) this production is still absolutely wonderful and the incorporation of that famous Irish song into it is marvelous.

It used to be quite popular. It happens sometimes that certain popular operas fall out of favor for a while. Sometimes they come back.

Grandiosa Opera
