I was diagnosed in my 40s after having a hysterectomy years ago, it's pretty odd seeing many developing HS in their adolescence and young adulthood. It crept up really fast and spread, ending any possibility of being in a relationship while destroying my self esteem. Over time I accepted this and coped as best as I can. Having an experienced and sympathetic dermatologist makes all the difference in the world.
This was very informative. Keep up the awesome support, Sandra, for HS patients. How outstanding to have Dr Hamzavi’s professional guidance and close to home. I appreciate learning more about the HS disease and can’t begin to imagine the extent of impact on the lives of HS patients. But I have a better appreciation and knowledge now. It was brave of you to be involved in the video. I am proud of your dedication to Hope for HS and the creation of the not for profit organization. Support and wishes to all and ongoing successful research. ❤️
Thank you for making this video. For those though that have never heard of HS they will not learn that it is a skin condition from this video , or how the skin breaks open causing the pain and oozing. Just 2 cents The suffering is real
I recognize your name from Facebook. Are you still doing well due to accutane? People ask about accutane and I think about you but I don’t know how to tag you on Facebook.
@@unapologeticallyamy9031that was what seems like a lifetime ago. I did laser hair removal and mostly in remission. I took accurate for many many years!
Thank you for this video, I’ve been feeling ugly with my body, I get pimples on my breasts, and I have a bad one on my pelvis, and I feel embarrassed , even with my husband, but I’ve been taking steps for a good diet, and exercising, I hope it works, and I hope everyone with HS over comes it 🙌🏻 but luckily, my husband makes me feel beautiful, I didn’t show my symptoms until I was 29yrs old, I had one surgery under my left armpit.
I'm 52 just got diagnosed finally and I've suffered and had surgeries and Dr's. Threw meds at me but I'm now trying humira. I've never been overweight and it's not due to weight but now all my children have it so very sad. I also suffer with severe joint pain
I heard a doctor say bathe in bleach water,it helps. I don't have that, but I have chronic cellulitis,I spay peroxide on my wounds and they heal,so maybe some peroxide and bleach mixed, would help. I wish i had a bath tub,it would help me with so many other things that go on with my old body.
Is this held at the Henry Ford in Detroit? My father had HS, I have had it for 50+ years (began at age 12/13 and not diagnosed until age 68,) my adult son has it and I am praying my that my twelve-year-old granddaughter does NOT get it! I have stage one HS. I use Functional Medicine and the AIP Protocol (eating non-inflammatory foods only,) optimizing my vitamins, minerals and hormones "optimized" and these things have really helped me.
please ask your doctor for trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and the cream called nadixa! veo effective, and please no dairy no smoking no drinking for 3 months and watch this HS do down 90% of not 100% then just follow up with no grease for or dairy to keep safe- mind you that when i travel to Mexico milk doesn't have the same effect on my skin that is good when i drink milk here in USA- hope this helps you as it did me-
I am already on the AIP (Autoimmune Protocol). This means eating no inflammatory foods including dairy, sugar, nightshades, gluten etc, @@meanloba3164 I cannot take pharmaceutical drugs- they backfire on me causing me to get worse.
to all dealing with this ask your doctor for this antibiotic trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and also the cream nadixa, my HS from my inner thighs is fully 100% gone! i did 3 months of this treatment and no dairy! trust this is the the end of untreated HS! i got these treatments in mexico but they have them here the antibiotic is also called bactrim F, they also have me some powder to dissolve called sulfa something and some liquid no soap gel to use while in shower- if ur doctor refuses to to Tjuana or mexico they have treatment and very effective, if u have kidney problems talk it out with Doctor

I was just diagnosed and I am 53. It's hard to make sense of this!
Did having the hysterectomy have an affect on the frequency and severity of your HS?
Your HS is hormonally triggered. I’d look into hormone replacement.
I have HS but I realised keeping my weight on the low, exercising and good diet help tremendously.

Thank you, Patty's. That sounds like my story, but I am single. I was also a nurse. ❤

It has been a year since you posted. How are you doing now with your HS?
Sandra 🥰🥰🥰
I wish my ins would cover laser hair removal again. It helped so much and then they just stopped 🥲 I’d also love a hysterectomy 🥰
