My sister was diagnosed with this during the early 90s. We watched her go from a came to crutches to a scooter and then to a wheelchair and then a power wheelchair. They had clinical trials where she would go into the university of Washington Hospital and get an IV infusion. It really started helping her, but unfortunately her heart was too damaged by them and she did pass away at 54. This woman is incredibly lucky to still be walking.
Thank you. I am blessed. I was diagnosed at age 53 and started receiving infusions right away, so it has helped me tremendously. Every patient's journey is different.
Pompe disease is new to me. I’m glad of this opportunity to learn about it. Sandra is a true joy, a ray of light. I’m glad to know a little about her, too. She is so much more than a woman dealing with disease.
Sandra you’re helping spread awareness by sharing your personal story. Thank you so much for telling us all about this condition that’s so rare . This will help others get a correct diagnosis. My love to you xxx
Sandra, you're such an inspiration to me, and I thank you for sharing this story with us. I have chronic osteoarthritis and it now seems asif I could have Rheumatoid Arthritis too - I await the blood test results. If I shpuld feel sorry for myself from here on, I will watch your story! The Lord bless you and keep you 🙏
Cynthia, I'd just like to add, I have a friend who has MS and some mistakenly assume that I have it as well. Different diseases, but our challenges are all the same.
