Wan directs from a screenplay by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick (“The Conjuring 2”) and Will Beall (“Gangster Squad,” TV’s “Training Day”), story by Geoff Johns & James Wan and Will Beall, based on characters from DC, Aquaman created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger. The film is produced by Peter Safran and Rob Cowan, with Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada serving as executive producers.
Wan’s team behind the scenes includes such frequent collaborators as Oscar-nominated director of photography Don Burgess (“The Conjuring 2,” “Forrest Gump”), his five-time editor Kirk Morri (“The Conjuring” films, “Furious 7,” the “Insidious” films), and production designer Bill Brzeski (“Furious 7”). They are joined by costume designer Kym Barrett (“The Matrix” trilogy, “The Amazing Spider-Man”) and composer Rupert Gregson-Williams (“Wonder Woman”).

James Wan is a wizard. VFX looks amazing, more polished than in trailer. That rooftop chase scene featuring beautiful Black Manta gave me chills! The chemistry between Jason and Amber seems nice. Those sea creatures, and whole underwater world- Atlantis look gorgeous. Amazing CGI work all around. Finally, there seems to be a good story waiting to be told. Can't wait to swim to theater to watch it!

Andris They filmed it on actual rooftop somewhere in Italy. In Sicily if I'm not mistaken.
The green screen is pretty bad and the effects could use a little work, but James Wan’s and the creative team’s vision carries the whole thing through. I love the cinematography, visuals, and designs, from the characters to the scenery. This looks to be very promising!

I am also a comic book fan, love both Marvel and DC. But Marvel has been hitting it out of the park time after time, and DC has been greatly disappointing in the film departments. But I DO think this will be a game-changer for DC. And I am GLAD to see this development. Now, perhaps, we will finally have some healthy competition between Marvel Studios and DC Films, which will only make BOTH work harder, and give us ALL better, more comic-book accurate movies.

@@kingofwakanda1653 The preview looks good but I'm not going in there with high expectations. Every time I've done it with a DC movie, I've come out disappointed. Justice League, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad were all pretty bad with Wonder Woman being pretty good. However, it was just Captain America the First Avenger with a female lead in Wonder Woman.

.....and Malathi, ofc it's an extended cut. That's why it gives much of the spectacle and detail away, to the point that the movie itself starts to feel a bit familiar and lacklustre in the end, compared to the trailer. That's what happens usually with trailers and extended cuts but hoping that Aquaman will be great though.

Many of critics are hypocrites- who will praise whatever generic movie Marvel churns, and will try to find imperfections in DC movies with a microscope.
Like, they'll always mention how Aquaman is not for everybody, or has flaws, or didn't hit it out of park for everybody every single time- as many times as they can even though if they enjoyed the film, even if majority enjoyed it, but they will never mention those things about Marvel films. Some of them will even call Thor: Dark World a great film. Do you guys think every single Marvel movie hit it out of the park for every single fan? If that's the case, then why did I only like CA:TWS, IM, BP out of all the 20 films?
If that's not the case, then why not mention that not every people liked CA1,3 IM2,3, A2, Thor1,2, DS, GOTG2, SM:H, etc like you guys do with every DC film? Aquaman is about to hit 1 billion, it crushed Disney's Marry Poppins, and 90+ rated Bumblebee when nobody expected it, it clearly shows more people have liked Aquaman than most of MCU films, but hypocrites like John Campea and Collider douchebags will never mention it. Because it is DC, and not their favorite Marvel. Heck, they didn't even mention how people completely despised 1st Captain Marvel trailer. Almost as if they are too biased, or under contract to not speak anything about Marvel. Grow up, guys, and treat every movie impartially.
I didn't like MOS, BvS, JL, but I LOVED Aquaman. It has everything a comicbook movie could possibly have, and then some. It can be even called as a fantastical adventure film despite perfectly fitting into CBM genre. It definitely has best visuals for any film since Avatar, I loved it in IMAX 3D.

habboninjafoot619 it wasn't as bad in the Ultimate Cut. The storyline was a lot more cohesive and the character motivations were clearer. I'd really recommend that version if you haven't seen it. It's a lot better than the Theatrical Cut.

Chris Peters I, as a fan, enjoyed wonder woman :^) and I enjoyed this trailer too. I also enjoyed infinity war. I think dceu has had many failures in the past, but does it automatically mean they will fail again? No. They have the capacity for greatness, they just have ro learn how to use it.

CGI isnt good enough though. it looks like a green screen scene.
The CGI was hit or miss. Some of the scenes it was painfully obvious that the actors heads were pasted onto CGI bodies. Other scenes are just CGI monsters battling CGI humans and monsters in a CGI Ocean. Overuse of CGI can also be a bad thing in a live-action movie.

It looks visually stunning , CGI has definitely improved in the hands of James wan and so has the cinematography . Very hopeful and this will be a great movie to watch this Christmas .

I saw this movie in an IMAX theatre - and its a fucking experience. Just go and see it - its mind-blowing how much originality it has. The last time I had my jaw dropped down like this was when I saw Avatar.

Beater of Meats yeah I know😂 obviously done in a computer for the zoom outs but the camera does follow her along the rooftop. James Wan employs these takes in many of his films, just pointing out that this one was no exception. But absolutely credit must be given to the amazing VFX team, there are some great visuals in this video

The CGI and ANIMATION in this trailer is laughably bad, THIS IS 2018 people, learn to do your fucking job! The rooftop scene, while maybe it was filmed on location (so i hear) whats the point when you cover everything in muddy special effects and poor color balance and contrast? the over saturated red and blues really look terrible imo.
THis movie, visually looks so weird and OFF to me that it seems like it would have been much better if it was ALL CGI rather than have this uncanny valley the whole movie with actors faces pasted onto CGI bodies, covered in CGI, surrounded by CGI.
Direction and cinematography are spot on though.

Jason Momoa is so well cast for this role. Such a long way from Baywatch, at least his GOT stint prepared him for this type of character. Can't wait to see this.
