i did this swap on my 23 vr1boost. with the oem springs to support my 230lbs i had to be on setting 4 [highest setting]. when i swapped to the new hd springs without changing anything else, the same feeling for me was on setting 1. so i now have 3 more settings if need be. not sure they are worth $500 but they fixed my weight issue. now it feels the exact same as before but on setting 1 vs 4
springs are a HUGE factor into the ride and handling of a sled. for $500 id assume youre in Canada?
@@JESSEJAMES322 yes. what a rip off for a simple piece of steel. u cant honestly support these crazy prices. thats insane
Im just here to see Nash again 😢
Nash's mom and i split so you will not be seeing him anymore. i lost him in the breakup :(
@@JESSEJAMES322 Aw man, that’s tough
Great Video!
Thank you! trying to bring all the good info!
how can u tell if ur shocks are blown?
if you push down and it feels very pogo stick like

Hey Jesse, would you recommend the HD springs for a 170lb rider (without gear on)? Also would you recommend C&A XTP or RZ skies?
really depends onw hat type of rider you are. if youre a very aggresive rider then yes but if you're not super aggresive you might be ok with teh standard springs. I have never runa set of RZ's actually so i am not sure. Actiually reminds me that i want to get a set to try!
@@JESSEJAMES322 Thanks Jesse. You wouldn't happen to have a part number for the HD Springs or know if South Side has them in stock? I ordered a set of the RZ's with 6in Shaper bars (this is what they recommended as best for aggresive on-trial) and will be testing them in a couple weeks. I'll report back with how they compared to stock with 4in SlimJim Doolies.
i do not but call southside they should have everything in stock. sorry for the late reply!

Hello Jesse. I went to my dealership to pick up a set of these springs. The part numbers you showed did not match the part number from Polaris.
hey Frank those were individual part numbers. the kit part #2884974
Where did you get the new bushings for the springs. Please tell. 🙂
that is super top secret honestly! they are a one off set to see if they work!
Though you were here to help us. 😒 I think they are needed big time. Inch gap is ridiculous. Called Highgear they said they didn't have them for the XCR.
Hygear used to sell bushings like those
i am here to help! I just havent tested them so there is only one in existence right now!!
Just joking you and Bruce are awesome.
As always Appreciate the info , coming from the dirt bike world it’s aggravates me they don’t put rebound adjusters on these shocks
unfortunately thats just not an option :(
Jessie, are you near Lake Ontario? We here in Vermont are boot lipping. No snow. I am wondering where we can travel to.
i normally ride in tug hill ny but that has been washed out with this last warm front also
After watching this I'm wondering if the Trap springs I just ordered from southside are gonna be too much and should have just went with the HD. 230lbs plus gear.
thats for sure going to be alot of spring for your weight. i wouldve recommended the HD
I weigh the same bro. Have HD on my 22' Assault (come standard) and they're spot on fyi
Definitely too heavy,I'm trying something now with the Trap springs I changed my sliders to rollers on the springs and it feels amazing I will let everyone know how it does on the trail! The handling is amazing with the Trap springs but very stiff and I'm 250 + with gear...
Gonna order the HD tomorrow. I originally thought I would want trap springs as I have a 2up seat but only plan on using it for taking kids once or twice a year.
Hey kid, nice to meet you at the Flat rock last week those trap springs we were talking about will be too much for most people I'm 250 + with gear and they are extremely stout 👍👍 But anyone lighter than me will get nothing but beat up!! But it feels so confidence inspiring knowing your not going to get that hard bottoming,I forgot to mention one thing of you notice your rear torsion springs only hit the very rear half of that rail bumper I moved mine back around 3/8 of an inch and it seems to be hitting right in the middle now 👍👍
nice to meet you as well! i will have to look at that! Trap springs are a serious spring!
I'm trying something new I'm using a roller for spring slides it feels great in the garage! Those spring slides are junk I've ovaled out 2 sets already and it ground out my slide rail!! I'll let you know how it works out 👍👍
Not saying this too be a jerk/ know it all… just a fyi. You were in north redfield not Mexico lol. Love that trail when it’s not pounded to 4 footers. Thanks for the info, love the videos
i will not confirm or deny where i was incase the POPO watch and try to give me a ticket for speed... thanks for watching!!
I'm a stones throw away. Williamstown/Amboy. I ride Redfield all the time.
Haha 10-4 jj322
@@JESSEJAMES322 You have a speed limit on your trails? I know Ontario Canuckland has a 35mph limit but I expect that from those losers. No limit here in Michigan.
state speed limit in NY (not in Mexico where i ride) is 55 unless stated otherwise. could be 25,35.45 or anywhere in between but if there is no speed limit listed its 55
So what would the adjustment be on the shock adjustment be to better the rebound before determining if you need revalving?
there is no re-bound adjustment on the shock unfortunately which is why we have to re-valve them to slow the rebound down. the only adjustment is compression but rebound stays the same
Loving the info you share in these videos!
Thank you! We are trying!
Thanks for the overview! I weight 220lbs before gear and stock spring felt way too soft on my 2022 Indy XC. HD torsion spring kit is in at dealer for me. Looking forward to better cornering. I have 1" more than stock of preload in front springs have to see if I need to change that now. Was up in Tug Hill a day last week too. See you on the trail!
Yea you are a candidate for HD. You would definitely benefit from 100 pound front springs (will be in next video). if you see me make sure to say hi!
Polaris has been making these sleds to soft for years
I always put a piece of plastic pipe between the springs and the bushing
Helps make more spring tension
that helps but there is also many more things that need to be done to get these sleds to work properly
What setting did you have the rear scissor stop blocks. We made our own similar to the new VR1 blocks but haven't been riding yet . We put them in the 21 and 22 XCRs, Hope they help with high-speed cornering
ive been running on 3. With the stock tosrion springs we had it on 4 to help eliviate some weight transfer.
Do they make the heavy duty springs for axys models?
yes these would be the same spring actually!
@@JESSEJAMES322 do i need bigger bushings?
no we all run the stock. i have one set of larger bushings i am going to try this year and see how they work!
Okay thanks for the info!!
At 165 lbs dripping wet I’m assuming no need to change out my stock VR1 torsion springs?
really depends on riding style. I know some guys that weight that go to HD on low and they like it better!
Man there's some nice riding in Mexico haha.
hidden gem!! great riding!
As directed by accelerated technologies I changed one spring to a hd spring and kept one standard, maybe give that a try. Also seeing that you have followers, what I would do is ask hygear for their shocks or get a set of elkas to try. I myself might try a elka stage 5 rear shock in the future you should also do a go pro facing your front suspension and your rear to see what it's doing. Just ideas for ya.
that is an option as well. Where we ride we needed the extra spring. i could get a set of Elkas but Bruce sells Polaris and walkers so we try to get these to work properly and we do. Some valving and springs and we get these shocks to work great. Our set ups are a much more reasonable then a set of Elka's also but i am not one to put the $ in front of me having fun but many are. Three years doing videos now and its tough to get people to spend $80 on a re-valve!
I ride the same places I know. Did you ever get last year's xcr setup correctly? I seen a video somewhere of a guy saying the best way to fix we velocity shocks is to, then he puts them in the trash.
yea my XCR was awesome last year. Bruces XCR is awesome along with a ton of other sleds Bruce did all work as they should!
Not suspension related but I’ve noticed you’ve cut the back of your skis but haven’t heard in any videos on your reasoning behind that
i have. its a preference of mine. i think it helps with nott catching edges in the corners. snocross mentality but i think it helps on trails too!
Great video again you can definitely see the pogo action in the riding footage can’t wait for next video! I still say Polaris should offer spring choices in SnowCheck we all weigh different and ride different.
thank you! and i agree but then thats more options for them to fullfilll and we know they already have a hard enough time fullfilling the orders with the options they have now
Polaris need to put electric ride command on the front shocks like the razors have on them
polaris needs to do a lot of things hahaha. that would be nice yes!
Hey, my dad and I were looking at both our Vr1's last weekend and noticed that then you compress the rear end by hand it instantly pops back up into place. Is this normal? My friends Thunder Cat comes back up slowly over a few seconds and was is under the impression that they are supposed to come back slowly and not spring back instantly. This lead us to believe that our shocks need to be rebuilt. Is this true?
so this was what i was talking about with re-bound in the video. the shocks do not come with alot of re-bound so they spring back very quick. you will see in the next video a better visual representation of this. but yes we recommend getting your shocks re-valved to make them work properly. that is all something Bruce can take care of
Nice ride, I can tell you're pushing pretty hard, stay on the trail I am getting stressed out watching you
i am on the trail! that was just a normal stroll for me thats not pushing very hard
