I prefer watching older sleds, new sleds just makes everything too easy, and not everyone can afford or want to push that amount of money on newer sleds. Like me :D
So many guys just don’t have the money or care to spend what the new sleds cost. We love seeing what a pro rider can do in them keep making these vids it’s awesome!
I’ve owned a 2006 Rev identical down to the trunk behind the seat for 10 years now and with yearly maintenance and upgrades, I keep up with guys on 2023 Matrix Boosts line for line and pull for pull. The Rev really was the turning point for sleds. After 10 years now my sled is a 163 2.5” with narrow an arms, performance mods and CLUTCHING as you found out while doing pulls. It’s fun watching the older sleds for us old guys! The new sleds are way more power and make it so much easier to climb, but the old sleds make it a challenge!!! Fun stuff
That is the age sleds we can afford and fix to ride so yeah keep em coming I'll watch the videos..... it just proves u don't have to spend 20,000 to have a good time..... AWESOME...
We did it all back 20 years ago guys. A 2003 800 rmk 159 will go almost anywhere the new stuff will go if you can ride. At had a 2001 800 polaris that had twin pipes, ported and shaved head that did 175hp on crank shopa dyno. She was a runner.
Been riding mountains since the 80’s it used to take us days and days just to go up the trail. Then it would snow and reset the whole challenge over again 😂
@@SlipperyDucky: Oh, I remember those days, mine was on a phazer. Mountain riding has completely changed from growing up in the 80's. Now my Axys RMK isn't even the current chassis.

Would love to see more of this sled, it’s so much more satisfying to us who can’t afford a new 15,000 dollar plus sled to see that you can still have fun.
Don't have to be new to be fun! We got our 2 ZX chassis 800 Summits out on the mountain last year after being in storage for 15 years, plus one S chassis 97 Summit 670. These were my first rides in 15 years, and my sons first rides ever. We had an absolute blast! Just waiting for snow now...
Amazing how far them sleds have came over the yrs. But for a 18 yr old sled, it did real good. And i used to lov how a guy could jump on a dirt bike and then a sled in winter time and header out right from your front door. I person can ride anywhere in that town and have a blast. Right up that road behind where you loaded up was great spot to rip when there used to be more snow there of course. Great vid
It's cool seeing these old sleds work. I've ridden a sled once and would like to get into it. Had the misfortune of riding a Yamaha 600 or something. It was a pile of junk compared to the two stroke Ski-Doos we also rented. No chance I could afford a new sled but something like this is more manageable budget wise. And it looks like it has plenty of potential to get around and learn on.
I have the same device from 2006, just super old school) of course I did a lot with it, completely restored the engine and chassis, now I’m just enjoying it) Siberia Russia
im well versed in these old sleds, takes a bit to wake them up not like my new 850, a set of boyesen rage cages a clutch kit a can and a rktek head would do wonders, better yet a rk tek drop in kit for these 800s, my old one is a 600ho turned 700 and it kept up with the 800s done up the same. another funny thing on these the sc3 skids seem to outperform the sc4 ones
2007 skidoo 860 154 xrs summit is my daily rider here in Montana, love seeing some old iron still on the hill still my second ride is a 2002 700 summit 156 modded out still a blast to ride. Really digging the content you just got a new subscriber. 👍
I had one of those, bought new in 2003 for the 03-04 season. I HATED it. It was hard to turn, it wouldn't stay on edge (it would either go back flat or tip all the way over) and the motor was very unreliable... ring delamination issues. I dumped the start of the next season and went to an Arctic Cat M7. Bit of a power loss but VASTLY better sled in ever way.
Feels like yesterday the 06 models came out, but man what a difference in technology in just 18 years. Meanwhile, motocross bikes have basically been the same for 18 years, they reached the top earlier.

That sled should be pulling 8100 rpm on those hills. I can tell from the sound that something is not right. Was a down side of those sleds was getting the clutching just right but once it was good they were really good for their time. A can makes all the difference as well.
