And the fact that Alekhine had three Queens and had even the thought about finding a move with a rook and it was the best move recommend by the engine is absolutely incredible
It should be noted - as one or two comments have touched on - that there is considerable doubt as to whether this game was ever actually played. Buschke researched this in the 1950s, covered by Krabbe in 1985. They consider the game likely to be an invention based on Alekhine's analysis of a possible continuation of his game Grigoriev-Alekhine, Moscow 1915. His analysis here: timkr.home.xs4all.nl/chess/al5q.htm In other words, Alekhine was BLACK, and declined the line that would have taken him to the 5 Queen game because he saw it was disadvantageous for him as Black. He later apparently decided the game was so pretty, he began to include it in his books as a game he actually PLAYED ... and as White.
- Jesus probably lived and died, but not for my sins, as my sins were committed some 2000 years later. - The God described in the Bible is not "a just judge", he is a sick tyrant, dispensing hideous punishments largely at random. 3:46 cracked me up: "If you look at this position black is actually not that bad here. White does have three queens..." That made me LOL. I'm like "Whaddya mean black isn't that bad...white has THREE QUEENS!"
In the classic book Alexander Alekhine by Alexander Kotov , the writer tells about his doubt that this was a real game and whether or not it was composed.Even if it was composed,it still shows the amazing tactical skill and levels of fantasy that Alekhine had in his chess brain.
How does this work on a physical board? Do they remember those pawns are queens? Or do they put some sort of token in? Salt and pepper shakers? Maybe some Monopoly pieces?
5:50 Are you kidding?! This here IS how a 4-5 years old plays when they discover queening... My young brother sacrificed all of his pieces just to queen after I told him about it... Also that one time he learned en passant, his pawns were camping at the 6th rank just so he can do it...
Now that is one hell of a game. These kinds of moves, is what will always make human chess in the end, more interesting. No engine will ever do this by themselves.
Jeez this is amazing. This more than likely would never happen today with people just memorizing books and trying to draw all the time. Wish chess was as fun and as exciting as it used to be, now people just want to play like engines :(
Many years ago I played in a brazilian championship semi-finals against a former brazilian champion (J.T.Mangini) and in the final diagram there were 4 Queens on the board, 2 for each side. One of the curious things is that he promoted is 2nd Queen with check, I defended the check and he resigned because my 2 Queens would deliver mate in many ways. My imortal and I played a Dragon...
"The player with the white pieces is Alexander Alekhine, but the player with the black pieces is unknown. Some sources say the player with the black pieces is actually Alexander Alekhine."
Fairly sure that Unknown Black Player isn't Reshevsky; Sammy was born in November 1911, and he would have been all of THREE years old at the time. Yes, he was a strong player at age 8, but there's quite jump from 3 to 8. Why does Black let white play h:g8/Q? If he just plays …R:g7 before that, he at least takes out the g-pawn (which becomes White's 3rd queen) at the cost of the same rook. And I don't know if …Q:f1 can be called "materialistic", since by grabbing the bishop, black lets the queen at e3 run away. …B:e3 Q:e3+ d4 seems indicated here, with or without the preparatory sacriice of the bishop at g4 being mentioned here. Thanks!
There is also a game with 7 Queens on the board, though it was probably not played at the highest level. Please do publish that game video as well. Thank you.
I love your channel! I don't understand why you keep saying A-la-Kain, instead of A-le-Heen... I minor thing... but, you are a man paying attention to details.... :)
I dont see an answer in the comments so . The game was played in Moscow 1915 against Grigorev. But Grigorev never said that he actually played this game. That means this maybe came from Aljehinove domišljije (Alekhines imagination). That is all acording to the Slovenian master Janez Stupica in the book Aljehin-Šahovski umetnik(Alekhine - chess artist). PS I know i am super late. I found this book in the library.
getting an extra queen is better than taking a queen & losing a bishop also white's next move of rook pinning the knight makes bishop taking the queen really bad. Bishop takes queen, queen to d8 Checkmate (and the knight can't take because pinned) White's lightsquare bishop prevents a6 and b5 and the queen is a knife
You are currently my favorite chess channel. It used to be Mato but I watched all his vids and he doesn't show his face during analysis. Small request. Can you make more Alekhine videos? You only have 4 Alekhine videos and there are so many games of his worth watching, preferrably with agadmator's analysis.
In a game with 5 queens, 1 rook was the MVP - most valuable piece. Pretty incredible.
Bros > hoes
White king was
If there is a lot of something it gets devalued
And the fact that Alekhine had three Queens and had even the thought about finding a move with a rook and it was the best move recommend by the engine is absolutely incredible
YellowCactusTv z But it has lower value than a queen no matter what.
"Black is actually not that bad here. OK, White does have three Queens ..."
This is a sentence rarely heard in chess analysis.
+MartinInBC When you put it like that, it does sound a bit like a fairy tale :D

Yes, this game is a fraud. It's not the only Alekhine fake. Some are proven and some just suspicious.
As rare as it is in chess analysis, it's an even rarer sentence outside of chess analysis.

Queen captures on A4, Queen captures on A4, followed by Queen captures on A4 mate
I didnt realize how funny that was until you quoted it
"So we have queen to A4 defending"
This too haha
Mark McKelvy 👁️👁️
Mate Lenny face
This famous "Harem" game beautifully illustrates the problem with actual harems: the queens end up killing each other!
True, but white still managed to keep two of three queens and won the game....that being said both queens only wanted the black king.
Not in modern polyamorous relationships, they love each other.
WOW, this might be my first viral comment ever :)
@@aaronsmith6632 and why not? it's a good one
@@lightdx7008 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this dark humor. I wasn't ready for the last bit. Damn!!!!! It's a good one.
Rarely do we see a game with two lucky Kings.
Omg hahahahaha
MrKockabilly I DONT GET THE JOKE
MiiiND Both the Kings have more than One Queen😂😂
This game is just heterofaschist.
r/whoosh
2020: 3 kings on the board
2025: the king is transexual, resulting in 2 queens in the very first move.
So it is 2020...
2020 is finally here. I am waiting for it
You had no idea what we were going to face in 2020. Curse that bat
@@zexzex8312 there is actually a three player chess on Vat19 so three kings

Black has one more minor piece and White's minor pieces are bad.
Kyle Grove thanks... we really couldn’t see that
That means the White's credit card is overloaded. Definitely not a great position.
Someone is bad with double sense here.
At 4:18 "This sexually allows white to mate in 5."
Actually not sexually !
😂😂😂😂omg lol
Slymator.. making chess sexy again

Damn Agad for a long time I was delaying to publish this video, and now I am late. P.S. this is going to go viral
+Suren You can still publish it, I'm sure people would enjoy both perspectives. We do have different styles, after all. I know I would watch it :)
Thanks Agad, I will still delay ))))
+Suren Dubious decision. Although, We would love to see your perspective too. Please publish soon!!
This game is fiction - so just bite back and post the original game : timkr.home.xs4all.nl/chess/al5qtxt.htm - it's very nice too..
I agree, it would be dubious

That's a fraud. The king was actually a sultan.
HAHAHA I get it
Cade Mosley shah is king in persian
Cade Mosley or well, sultan
That Rook!!!!!!
Farhad13 5 queens 2 kings in 1 rook
hey I also have a wild story about me and five queens back in the day in san francisco
I'm sure people would love to hear it :D
I am part of the people and I don't want to hear about it.
Did you mate?
With 5 queens there's no way you can avoid the cheque
Hope they weren't pinned
Beautiful pin by Alekhine.
*This could be a good hentai plot.*
Yandere harem since the Queens start offing each other at the end.
i nutted
oh my god cultured men are all around
High School DxD
It's not quite Hentai though
That rook will be featured now in thug life compilations

Laurent Parmentier As i only have one chess set i do it with an upside down rook ;)
and what will u do if all rooks are on board? xD
i personally use toilet paper

I like to use used condoms
Five Queens on the board! Where do you see somewhat like this nowadays? Tremendous!
Love Alekhine's games.

That is the kind of camping I can get behind
I don't know why but this sounds very wholesome.
I've thought of "camping on 6th rank" too but I never actually get to do it.
This is one of the greatest chess game i have ever seen

" This is getting out of the control, better handle it while I still can" -> That rook on h6
The coolest game I've ever seen
It's hard to believe that one of the participants in such a unique game remains unknown.
Thats insane l think the last time l saw 4 queens on the board l was playing my brother when l was about ten years old
What happened to the other man who was doing the presentation with moustache and french beard?
He's on vacation, I will take over for a couple of days :)
hahaha
That was a fun game. 5 queens on the board is so rare.
Rite On, Appreciate you Showing This Game
a book I own suggests the black player was actually Gregorieff
Greetings from Argentina Agad!!
Thus the king had a royal harem
having promotion is very difficult to pull off, win or lose to the actual game, that's absolutely a win for me.

Queen capture on F1 at 4:11 was the start of the disaster for the black.
The Rook: Exists
The Knight: Am I a joke to you?
At 3:10, why didn't black take the queen on e3 with the bishop?

taking a queen and losing a bishop is less valuable than gaining a queen
