    The series underrated Luke a lot. They shot him in the head with a shotgun which screwed him up, yet Luke from the comics would have laughed it off. Still liked the series, Daredevil I loved. Jessica Jones was a bit too depressing, Iron Fist was plan bad.

      @@IvaNTheUnStoppable Yes, and let's keep in mind that Luke has powered up over time. The original Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe had him listed at being able to lift 3 to 5 tons. His durability has gone up as well. The show was closer to his early power levels than his later. I think his current durability helps him fight other characters above his strength level. Luke needs to be in the cinematic universe!

    Luke Cage needs a power up. writers need to level-up his impenetrable skin to indestructible. Meaning it can not be cut by anything, including adimantium. Also; his internal organs are leveled up to where they can take a substantial amount of damage comparable to his skins indestructibility. Make it happen Marvel. It’s overdue.

      His skin is strong enough lmao, bit much to increase it to adamantium level resistance, he can already tank a ton, that’s enough. Idk it’s kinda like saying spider man should be stronger, but his strength is already impressive enough. Luke cage is strong enough too. I feel their classes are cool, spider man isn’t bullet proof but is able to dodge a majority of attacks with spider sense, Dare devil basically has 360 vision. Luke cage makes up for lack of senses with bullet proof skin well it’s a lot more than bullet proof being able to tank lasers and junk.

      @@midnighteye2737 Why, in your words, is Luke Cage "too powerful"? Because a BLACK superhero can't be that powerful? I don't hear anyone complaining about Captain Marvel, Rogue, Hyperion, Sentry, or precious Thor. Luke Cage needs a power up and a new series. Get him on the level of those other Marvel powerhouses. Yes, I'm being a little tongue in cheek here, but...just try naming some very powerful Omega level, Black Marvel superheroes... Blue Marvel? Who else? At least DC tries with Icon, Superman Calvin Ellis, Nubia, and Val-Zod.

    That “Class Strength” thing used to be exactly what it meant. Spider-Man’s “Class 10l strength meant that he could lift 10 tons with maximum effort. Class 100 meant that a character could lift over 100 tons multiple times. Cage got a power upgrade under Bendis. He used to only be able to lift about 3 tons. Luke was strong for street level,but his real power was he was near impossible to hurt.

    I hated when a channel like Danco , do battles and ask you want you think and they state that they believe that this character would defeat that one. But if it's someone they like they are bias. He said ," he believe Spider-Man would win against Luke Cage". Which isn't true , and doesn't back the data, Luke Cage can punch through steel Spidey can't , Luke Cage can fight for 24hrs. Before he even breaking a sweat , the best Spidey can do full strength 2hrs to 3hrs tops before he lose strength.

    • @GhettoJohnWick
      @GhettoJohnWick 3 года назад +6

      Spiderman is fully capable of punching through steel, but, he doesn't rely on strength to win his fights. Also, Spidey has gonna 6hrs+ when he fought Morlun, who was draining Spidey every time they made contact. This puts his stamina much higher than you'd think.

    • @soakedbearrd
      @soakedbearrd 3 года назад +7

      I love Powerman, but Spiderman would eat him for breakfast in a fight. Luke is a lot stronger, no question he's as durable as they come, and has super stamina. That being said, spiderman is no weakling, is very agile, has spidersense, has battled stronger characters and won, and has a smarter fight IQ. Not to mention he can always escape battle if things get crazy due to his almost flying ability with his webslingers and can climb walls. In fact, pound for pound spiderman is probably one of the strongest (overall ability not strength) characters.

      Luke Cage was not around in the silver age, he’s for sure Bronze Age. But Classic Luke Cage was definitely a 5-tonner, he was being matched by strong, non-enhanced humans like Big Ben Donovan, Piranha Jones, Cottonmouth, and Black Mariah. Maybe in his “Cage” and “Power Man and Iron Fist” series he was stronger, but Classic (Hero for Hire-Power Man) Luke definitely couldn’t have been a 30-50 tonner in my opinion. If he were, people like Gideon Mace and most of his villains wouldn’t even pose a challenge. Plus, most sources that I have seen put Classic Luke Cage at 5 or 3 tons, I’ve never heard of him being a 30-50 tonner during that specific time period. Now, sure. In fact, he’s stronger than that nowadays. But Luke is a character who has grown in strength rather largely over the years.

    I think the reason Netflix toned him down because on the series he new to using his powers. One of Luke's skill traits is if you do hurt him when he heals his skin becomes stronger. Remember on the show he got shot with the Judas bullet the 1 time it hurt him but the 2nd time on the 2nd season it did nothing. He even mentioned it on the show. In the comics Luke more experienced. So all things that hurt him in the past won't hurt him in the future because of skin durability.

Yeah I'm a huge Spider-Man fan, but Peter has held up collapsed buildings, underwater lairs, fought the Hulk, kept a fully fueled plane from crash landing and not to mention he holds back when fighting. Good review on Luge Cage. I get most of my information regarding Marvel’s characters from a series of books called Marvel Universe. These books discuss origins, strength levels powers. They even gave stats on height, weight, and eye color. I will be the first to admit that these books may be somewhat outdated, being published in the late eighties early nineties. However, the information printed is still relatively good. It allows for discussion on this subject matter. Regarding Luge Cage, aka Power Man, it stresses his skin’s invulnerability, which makes him incredibly durable in a battle. While his strength is somewhat impressive, it is his durability that makes him the true badass.

    Good assessment! Yes...it's hard to know which category Luke Cage actually falls in terms of strength levels. And since the comic books are the predominate reference and canon, we should always look to that no matter what the MCU presents. I have a comic book where Luke Cage fights Merged Hulk or Prof. Hulk to a draw----period. So this would make him able to stand toe-to-toe with a lot of characters of high strength levels in the Marvel world.

    According to the Marvel Database Luke is capable of HERCULEAN levels of strength as the bulldozer incident was done with no strain an it weighed 54 tons. Alot of people also don't know Luke had his power levels increased 3 times. Once in prison where a corrupt guard messed with the controls in an effort to kill him. Then he was exposed to the treatment again and thirdly the power man virus increased his strength yet again. Keep in mind when he fought Namor, some of that fight took place in the water where Namor becomes his absolute strongest.

Like Ironclad from the U-Foes, Orka the killer whale villain, Sandman but lost on purpose cause....well didn't want spoil that one! Also, fought one if the deviants, can't remember his name but he was biiig but again lost cause of some plot to the story. In the New Avengers, he fought the Living Laser and told him that tickles cause his powers couldn't penetrate his skin and then knocked him out. Aww yeah also, he beat up the Absorbing Man. Luke Cage ... Aka PowerMan..... Is Highly Underrated and was SERIOUSLY nerfed as far as the Netflix Series goes. His Feats of Strength in the comics are unreal... And keep in mind... Sue storms Forcefield have survived... Nukes, Energy Blasts, and even Magical Attacks !!! And Luke was the only one able to break through with sheer force. Now... We are talking a forcefield that stopped the Hulk and Even Galactus !!!! Yeah... Let that sink in !!!!

    Pretty good video, albeit in need of an update. There are lots of solid feats that got missed. There are also some odd statements here and there that kinda conflict with the comics. Particularly around the 5 minute mark. One example being the comment on the Doom fight since I'm fairly sure Doom lost that fight, or at the very least was losing before it got interrupted? Anyways I look forward to more videos and a possible update:)
    *Overall Cage is a pretty underrated power house, who based on everything is sitting in the Thing's range of strength*

    actually when marvel initially started the official marvel strength class chart back in the late 70s, early 80s it did literally mean thats is what they could lift. But when the company agreed to their first crossover with dc, and they had superman state that the marvel supers were only a little less powerful than they were, marvel had to adjust their strength chart. Otherwise, there was no way fights between the characters from different universes could be competitive and relevent.

    Super heroes have become over-powered. In the 70’s and early 80’s, Marvel especially was, at least partly, more down-to-Earth. True, they had the Hulk, who could become as strong as Superman at the time. But Power Man was nowhere near that. Bullets, depending on the size of the ammo and the kind of gun, could hurt him, like you or I getting hit by small stones. So he got annoyed by being shot, though bullets could not penetrate his skin in general. And his strength was limited, but only relative to other heroes like Thing , who was 20 times stronger. But that’s one of things I loved about Power Man...it made him more relatable. It forced him to use his wits to outsmart more powerful opponents...to out-strategize them, uncover their weaknesses, and out-think them in battle. And it eventually led him to partner with Iron Fist, which to this day is among the most clever partnerships in all of fiction, period. It was especially instructive for me when foes (and some ignorant soon-to-be friends) would underestimate Luke Cage’s intelligence because he’s Black - a mistake villains didn't have chance to make twice.
    As for the Netflix version, I confess that I absolutely loved it. Even the cheesier parts (the second half of the first season) was great. And his power levels in the show were pretty much exactly what they had been when I was reading him as a kid. It was perfect. Mike was outstanding as Luke Cage. Geez what a great series. It was so good, Mike was so good, that even Iron Fist became appealing when they were onscreen together. And Cage with Daredevil? I could have watched Cox and Coulter together forever....both actors easily outclassed the material they were given in Defenders. They were both so good, the potential for storytelling was incredibly rich.
    It was unforgettable - just perfectly coincident - to have Luke Cage arrive as a live-action series at a pivotal moment in recent history...a Black man who was bullet proof...he’d always been just what he was, but the synergy of his arrival and the timing...it hit like a ripple in the zeitgeist. And it drives me crazy thinking about what might have been - Panther meets Cage - some version of which I still hold out hope for.

    The powered luke cage way down in the Netflix series. I read power man and iron fist comics back in the 70's and it seems like cage possesses the strength of an average asgardian male(25 tons). Thor is in the 100 ton range. He doesn't have a healing factor, but really need one because he's so difficult to injure. He also filled in for the thing in the fantastic four temporarily. He fought the wrecker who is another 25 tonner and knocked him out with his own crowbar. Luke Cage's stamina, strength, durability and fighting skills make him very dangerous. I'm glad he's one of the good guys.

    For Luke Cage, it has never been how strong he is, he was created for how much he can endure. I know it sounds counter-intuitive to his name however that is his main power, his endurance. If you look at all of his feats, they are rarely about how strong he is however they often show off just how much he can endure. His endurance is just over that of the Hulk, yet he is not even close to as strong as the Hulk...
