So many of the products say they don’t test on animals, but as you have said, animal testing is totally banned in India. Very true Ma'am, Every company has made their agenda: negative marketing, hate speech marketing, fear factor marketing. It has become trend that companies are not using strength of swot analysis. But exploiting fear of consumers. Looks like companies using free from this " " for easy sale or they are not confident on their product.
Great video. I believe it will still take many years for consumers to catch on. The only thing I'd mention that I didn't agree with is the go ahead and enjoy your milk part. Just because there is no gluten in it does not mean it's good to consume it. The milk industry is just as cruel as the animal testing industry, not to mention controversy involved in the consumption of dairy for humans as well.
Yes I thought there might be controversy over milk but I really needed to catch peoples attention with a statement that would help them listen that we don't put make up on bunnies! I don't know enough about the dairy industry to comment on their treatment but I do know the cosmetics industry is doing everything it can to stop animal testing completely, only tests where absolutely required by a regulatory authority (and often outdated ruling that is being changed), and in any case, and in the meantime, its not 'standard' or 'common' as so much misinformation on the internet may suggest. I hope this helps explain the comment.

The problem is that consumers don't understand that cosmetics products don't be tested in animals a long time. It's a pharma procedure. But we (cosmetics R&D) need to be in our mind, use ingredients, safety sourcings to development new products to cause less impact in the world in general. Be sustentable, saving natural sourcings, no animals ingrendients or etc. Marketing people don't understand this impact from the raw ingredients, but we yes! So, we need to start development new products and in the same time replacing old formulations to be align wit our new time in this world. And we (industries) can do/strat the change the governaments to change old rules asking the tests reviews. We have options to replace the older. Here in Brazil we have some absurd claims in the products that we never used before because we have incompatibilities ( I think that someone from R&D told to MKT). But it's impossible to do the formulation with this ingredients! Well, I love your videos and I want more!
Hi Sarah, I don't like that it happens but I am explaining that it hardly gets done, and WHY it happens when it is conducted (in short, its old laws to ensure safety) and large companies are working with regulators to remove the need for it at all. The biggest problem is the amount of sites that suggest cosmetic testing on animals happens routinely and regularly - which it DOESN'T - and the only times it happens is where a country specifically requires it to be done for a company to import their products or materials UNTIL new regulations/testing gets passed that supersedes this requirement. Thankfully we are getting closer to this every day but I'm providing the reasons why it has happened and also pointing out that most of the products you use EVERYDAY contain chemicals that were in the past tested on animals - just ask for our references for this video and you'll find out that sad truth :( . Its a part of history, we're moving toward no testing at all but there are still regulatory requirements on a very few materials and products that will soon be phased out. Our industry, companies and regulators don't want this testing done anymore but there are a few cases where it is still done to ensure consumer safety for a legal (and safety) reason - once suitable testing methods are established that don't require any animal testing believe me, it will be worldwide and a fantastic result. I hope this helps explain it.

Your question is actually why I made this video - I'm sick of seeing 'no animal testing' on products that don't get tested anyway. China requires it on 'special use' cosmetics as part of their regulations. Please remember that most of the materials in your every day personal care (including natural oils, essential oils and extracts) was at some point tested on animals in the past. Newly introduced chemicals (including naturally derived materials) where inputs exceed 1000kg may also require safety testing on Daphnia (small crustaceans) to test for toxicity in water release - again, a requirement of regulations.
I understand that cosmetics are not tested on animals for a long time, but what if cosmetics ingredients must be tested, because such are the requirements - for example - of the European Union. Most of the raw material MSDS cards that I reviewed, recognized major manufacturers, had toxicity information based on the results of animal testing. Is this not hypocrisy?
No, most of our cosmetic ingredients were at one time tested on animals - but they aren't tested now unless NEW and a permitted non-animal test is not sufficient to demonstrate safety (not many cosmetic ingredients fall into that category, by the way) OR required for entry to a region where it is still required for regulatory reasons (e.g. China still has requirements). Existing chemicals that have had testing done don't need it to be redone, but it is obviously there from the past - this covers 1000's of ingredients including natural ones. We can't erase the past but we don't require it for the future unless NEW and another method is not sufficient to prove safety OR required by the regulations - and that is not required in many cases. Most of your MSDS show the testing from the past, which is why it still appears but it was done a long time ago. I hope this helps explain it for you.

I’ve also recently seen no gluten claims on cosmetics. It’s laughable but kind of sad because consumers eat up all of this.
