Perhaps you've rejected the young earth creation story as clearly told in the bible. Even right here in this video Ross confesses that there were 6 days of creation - then he goes off the rails to bend the texts to fit in with the big bang tale. You make your bed - you have to sleep in it. Choose well.
So by the way re-read Exodus 20:8-11 carefully - again and again - and examine the context in which it appears.

If you want to know about Ross, get the book Refuting Compromise
A biblical and scientific refutation of ‘progressive creationism’
(billions of years) as popularized by astronomer Hugh Ross
      by Dr Jonathan Sarfati.
Ross plays a game, and pretends to exude humility and sincerity, but he is proud, puffed up and arrogant. He deludes himself, and is greatly deceived, and deceives far too many who should know better. He obviously thinks he is some kind of gnostic. He writes a book titled "Why the universe is the way it is" as though he has all the answers.
Ross is a Trojan horse to the church. He rejects the creation account, and contaminates scripture with Big Bang secular philosophies that directly contradict scripture. He rejects the global flood and says it was just a local flood, and believes there was death before Adam's sin, which is an attack on God’s goodness and character. Very serious !
He claims there were "pre-adamites". (people who supposedly lived and died before Adam). His faith is in Big Bang, and he has constructed a religious cult that conforms to it. Scriptural meaning is twisted to accommodate it. Don't be so easily deceived, people...Gods word warns of these types in the last days.

In the scriptures it says that God divided the light from the dark before He spoke the sun into existence. That tells me there was some form of light that was intermingled with darkness. Doing this dividing made way for the creation of the greater light or the sun. It was God making way for the sun--a greater light. John the Baptist came out of the wilderness. The wilderness represented the former light that was given by Moses'writings including the law and by the prophets and kings such as David who were anointed by the Holy Spirit. But the true light got mixed up with man's sinfulness, false gods of the heathen and even God's own chosen people's straying. John shouted, " Make Way for the Lord! "He exhorted men to repent! He wanted them on a higher road with all the stones-- the stumbling stones-- cast away to prepare the way for the Messiah. He washed them in baptism from their former ways. And then the greater Light came... The son of God, the Light of the world that lighted every man. John was called the most righteous man that ever lived. But the Son of man was Righteousness! The Truth had dawned and It would experience an eclipse and then shine on for eternity. This is my prayer: "Lord let me separate the Light from the darkness and fully experience the eclipse of your death that I might pass from darkness to Light and walk in the Light as you are in the Light and have fellowship with You, Your blood cleansing me from all sin." Amen.

If time does not exist, eternity can’t be measured. So God in His infinite wisdom did it in six, 24 hour days to quantify it for our benefit.

"For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."
The entire creation was cursed and put into bondage to await God's final redemption. It is pretty simple Bible teaching.
I'm left wondering how you explain millions of years of death before man's sin in your (and Ross') old earth philosophy?

    Jeremiah 3
    Restoration of Israel.
11 Then the Lord said to me: Faithless Israel has shown herself less guilty than false Judah. 12 Go, and proclaim these words towards the north, and say:
Return, faithless ISRAEL - Oracle of the Lord.
I will not look on you in anger,
for I am merciful, Oracle of the Lord.
I will not be angry for ever.
    13 Only acknowledge your guilt,
that you have rebelled against the Lord your God,
and scattered your favours among strangers under every green tree,
and have not obeyed my voice, says the Lord.
    14 Return, O faithless children,
    for I am your master;
I will take you, one from a city and two from a family,
and I will bring you to Zion.
15 I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding. 16 And when you have multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, says the Lord, they shall no longer say, "The ark of the covenant of the Lord." It shall not come to mind, or be remembered, or missed; nor shall another one be made. 17 At that time Jerusalem shall be called the throne of the Lord, and all nations shall gather to it, to the presence of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they shall no longer stubbornly follow their own evil will. 18 In those days the house of Judah shall join the house of Israel, and together they shall come from the land of the north to the land that I gave your ancestors for a heritage.
    19 I thought
how I would set you among my children,
and give you a pleasant land,
the most beautiful heritage of all the nations.
And I thought you would call me, My Father,
and would not turn from following me.
20 Instead, as a faithless wife leaves her husband,
so you have been faithless to me, O house of Israel - Oracle of the Lord.
21 A voice on the bare heights is heard,
the plaintive weeping of Israel’s children,
because they have perverted their way,
they have forgotten the Lord their God:
    22 Return, O faithless children,
    I will heal your faithlessness.
    ‘Here we come to you;
for you are the Lord our God.
23 Truly the hills are a delusion,
    the orgies on the mountains.
Truly in the Lord our God
    is the salvation of Israel.
24 "But from our youth the shameful thing has devoured all for which our ancestors had laboured, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. 25 Let us lie down in our shame, and let our dishonour cover us; for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our ancestors, from our youth even to this day; and we have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God."

wonderful talk, thank you. While “day” may mean a period,Genesis does not just say “day” but “evening came and morning came the first ( second, third etc) day”. You reveal the order is correct so can it not be possible that God created on each 24 hour day in succession , the earth and universe, “where it would have been if X number of millions of years had passed” each time? I see miracles of God today witnessing to God’s ability to do this - a leg growing in one second four inches longer at the prayer of another - not slowly as the witness told me, but in one instant it was short and one second later it was four inches longer. Prophets in thee Bible were transported in an instant WITHOUT PASSING THROUGH THE SPACE INBETWEEN, (often called bi-location) - Habakuk with the stew to Daniel: Philip from the road with the Ethiopian chariot and next instant in Susa: Elijah, taken from one place to another and who had to be sought by his prophetic brothers. When Padre Pio was taken in an instant to North Africa, saved a soldier’s life and was returned in a second back to Italy he was asked how he did this feat ( one of many in his life). He said, “I am where God Wills me to be, here in the monastery one moment and the next He will me elsewhere.” This explains the mystery of Jesus’ virginal birth, God willed Jesus to be in His mother’s womb until full gestation and the next instant to be in the manger - hence not passing the space inbetween and so the seal of virginity was not broken.

I applaud your desire to defend the bible record and wholeheartedly agree, that it is a sure, truthful reference on whatever subjects it touches on.
Personally, i have found i have to take great care not to do two things.
1.To not take well corroborated scientific truths,as automatically being adversarial to the bible.
What is called science,is in truth, the attempt to uncover truth, about reality. It is a gradual progressive process, but it is,whether its practioners believe in god or not,a methodical search for uncovering truths regarding how god builds a universe, it is not my enemy.
People within it may try to distort or mess with things within that body of knowledge, but, the truths are there, and it is up to people who love truth, whether they're god fearing or not,to call out when it is straying from that grand goal of pursuit of truth.
Fundamentally though, clear scientific truths will only add to the bible account, no matter what people may try to do.
We have no reason to fear science itself.
      2.I must,
      use the bible correctly.
This takes much effort, but i find it helps by being careful not to take things out of context, its so easy to focus on a verse in order to prove my own thought or point of view,,and to ignore the previous verses,or chapter, which set that verse in the proper context.
Another thing ive learned,is to also collect all the rest of points the bible may make about that same subject matter,in the other bible books, this gives a clearer view of gods flawless thinking on the given subject.
I learnt this way of careful study, from great god fearing men,who more than a century ago used these methods to get clear views of bible truths.
It is easy for us to misunderstand what god is saying, and we dont want to stumble those who already doubt him.
      3.Be patient,things aren't always quickly apparent.
In Rom chapters 5,6, god is using Paul to address the matter of where human sin and death originated from,he was not making a statement regarding death in reference to all living things. In fact the whole theme of the bible,is written regarding this grand purpose that god has for mankind, and how it will be achieved.
In chapter 5 he specifically address the origin of human death,as being the fatal decision Adam made in Eden, and the consequences this has for all of us.
God reveals his response to this dire situation ie,supplying a ransom that will pay the price of bondage, and release mankind from this situation they are stuck in.Sin brings death, just as night follows day.
In some of gods final words to mankind in Rev:21:4 god paints a picture of all things he will remedy,or reverse for mankind, outcry, mourning, pain and death, are the things he promises to reverse for mankind.
When he sent his chief representative,Jesus, you will recall he resurrected and cured people, not pets or cattle,as a way to demonstrate to those people, and to us,the things which he would do at a future time globally. He further stated there would be a grand ressurection of humans in John:5:28,29.
So,we can see the picture that is forming right?
Nowhere does the bible suggest that animals did not expire before Adam,or that they only started dying, after the fall.
The ransom was provided to remove humans from endlessly being born into a dying race, it is a provision only for those made in gods image.
I personally thought that the gentleman who gave this talk,is a man who sincerely loves the book of creation, and the bible, and he gave a very reasonable, compelling talk.
My hope,is that as people who are in awe of this amazing creator,as i believe you are, that together we can learn and grow from each other.

Animal death, unlike human death, did not result from sin. Romans 5:12 says that sin came into the world through one man and spread to the human race, not to the animal kingdom. When God declared that his creation was good at the end of the sixth day, he must have had in mind the complex relationships within ecosystems, where predators, prey, scavengers, and pollinators all play specific roles. The life cycles of animals, including birth and death, contribute to the overall functioning and health of the earth’s ecosystems. Psalm 104:21 describes how “young lions roar for their prey, seeking their food from God.” Lions are carnivorous predators, which means they primarily eat meat from prey. That is how God designed them. 2 Peter 2:12 says that animals are “creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed.” Humans, on the other hand, are different. We were made in God’s image. We have the potential for eternal life through faith in Christ. Being creatures of instinct, animals are unable to put faith in Christ and receive eternal life.

@@jollyrancher521 I see it differently, my friend. Look, Romans 20-22 make it clear that the Fall is not just limited to humanity, but has an impact on all of creation. Creation suffers from corruption and death, and this is directly linked to the Fall. Greetings from Switzerland and blessings, my friend.

@@BolzGue Thanks for your reply. I would just point out that although the Greek term "creation" in Romans 8:22 can refer to the creation in general, including animals, "creation" in this context refers exclusively to the human creation. Romans 8:19 says that "the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God" and verse 21 says that "the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God." (ESV) Only humans are waiting for that time when they will be set free from sin and become children of God. Colossians 1:23 also uses the term “creation” in reference to humans. It says that the gospel “has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven.”

The Hebrew word for Create is "bara."
It is only used 3 times in Genesis 1
      a) In the beginning - "the heavens and the Earth" :all physical reality. That would include the star(s), moon, etc.
      b) Day 5 - Nephesh animals.
      c) Day 6 - Man (Adam/Eve)
Why do you make God a grow lamp to be switched on and off?
You cannot have "evening" or "morning" without a star.
      The Earth rotates.
The sun does not rise nor set.
Verse 16 "clearly" does not state Creation, nor does it use the word "bara."
You are reading into the text and completely distorting its meaning to satisfy your personal belief.
      That is eisegesis.
The Hebrew word for made (asah) in Genesis 1:16 is in the “verb form” that denotes completed action.
Genesis 1:16-18 are parenthetical statements that indicate that the sun, moon, and stars had been made sometime in the past.
A parenthetical statement is one that explains or qualifies something.
They did not have past tenses in Ancient Hebrew.
They only had perfect and imperfect tenses.

Dr Ross is awesome and I agree with him on a lot of points. But when it comes to the account of the flood I believe he is unequivocally incorrect.
Genesis 6:7 says "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air.."
Genesis 6:13 "And God said unto Noah, The end of ALL FLESH is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth."
Genesis 7:21-23 " And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man. All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark".
The Bible is reeeeaally going out of it's way to make sure there is no misunderstanding: IT'S THE WHOLE WORLD.
So anything else in the Bible that Dr Ross is pulling from to claim otherwise is, with all due respect to him, being stretched very thinly to fit the narrative he wants.

Biblical Hebrew has no word for universe, in the Bible “heaven and the earth” is always used to talk about the complete universe. “Firmament” is used in the King James Version a old (1,500) translation? Modern translations do not use this: Genesis 1:7 “And God made the expanse and separated the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse.” This is talking about what we now call the water cycle. The use of the world “firmament” in Genesis 1:8 is a carryover from the Latin firmamentum of the Vulgate. Genesis was written in Hebrew, the original Hebrew word is raqiya. This should be translated “expanse, sky, space, horizon”. Some translated this a vault. Genesis was written in Hebrew, which as limited vocabulary.

yeah and on that note about the world being flooded but it wasn't the WHOLE world as we know it. you got to consider how many people there even were on the planet at that time. if you give a generous guesstimation (coz the book doesn't name everyone or number how many kids they all had) there would only have been somewhere between 3-4000 people. that's not even enough to fill the smallest sports stadium, so a world flood in perspective of that isn't really that big, after all when we hear the words world wide flood today we imagine a flood that literally engulfs the whole planet coz we now have a population that covers the planet but not back then there weren't enough people for God to need to do that.

Your numbers are laughable! If you actually gave it some thought by looking at the genealogies you would see how ridiculous your numbers are. God went to great effort in Genesis to describe a worldwide flood that covered the whole earth. All land animals and all humans save those on the ark were killed. If you cannot understand this from the text in Genesis then that is your reading comprehension problem. Ross spews numbers as truth that are purely speculative verging on indefensible. He is a liar, and a dishonest deceiver.

The earth is not 6,000 years old and the Bible does not teach this. Hebrews 4:9-10: "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his." This tells us that the 7th day has not ended. Thus day 7 is a long time span, thus day 1 to 6 must be a long time span. Each believer are to enter into day 7. Also there no "evening and morning" for the 7th day. As day 7 as not ended. Biblical Hebrew has a limited vocabulary, with fewer words compared to other languages, such as English or Spanish. This means words often have multiple meanings determined by context. Day - yom is commonly rendered as day in English translations, but the word yom can be used in different ways to refer to different time spans thus literally is:
      Sunrise to sunset
      Sunset to next sunset
Time period of unspecified length. (long time span ).
We use the word day the same today: In my grandfather’s day cars did not go very fast.
Deuteronomy 33:15 and Habakkuk 3:6 "ancient mountains".
The events of day 6 can not have happened in 24 hour.
