Nice truck. I’m a Ford guy when it comes to trucks. My 05’ 4X4 has 247,000 miles. I’ve done a lot of repairs the last two years that have included: timing chain replacement, transfer case, rear end, coils, shifter cable, EGR, upper control arms, and lower ball joints. Still better than making truck payment for 6+ years.
By that mileage, where I am in Upstate NY it would be a rusty heap. Plenty drive them like that, but the frame is known to rot and turn into a C-frame.
I had an 06 STX with the 4.6 years ago. I needed more engine so I could tow a good sized travel trailer, so I traded it in on an 05 FX4 with the 5.4. Those 4.6s can run for a really long ass time if you take care of them. One thing I would recommend replacing, if you haven't already, is the fuel pressure driver module that sits on the frame over the spare tire. The OEM modules are known to rust and fail. Enjoy your 4.6.
@@Divinesavage502 it’s holding up really good. I’ve been mudding countlesss times. Gotten it stuck in bumper high mud. Pulls a bass boat around everywhere. Yea it’s a super good truck and gets the job done. Gas mileage is better than any other v8 out there other than eco friendly.
The big one is the oil pump failing, causing the phasers and tensioners to fail. But it looks like you're already on top of that. Make sure that you pull the oil pan and clean any tensioner debris from the pan and oil pickup tube. Other than that, the most common issues are the exhaust manifolds crack and the FPDM failing. *EDIT* I forgot two things. The front brake lines will collapse due to age, causing the front calipers to seize. Replace them when you get the first chance. And the Integrated Wheel Ends (IWEs) use plastic internally that fails every couple of years, causing 4x4 not to work. You can get Dorman IWE eliminators that will permanently lock the hubs without engaging the transfer case. That way, you won't be in a situation where you need 4x4 and it doesn't work.
Got my 2008 F-150 XLT Supercrew short bed 4X4 with the 5.4 V8 back in Sept. 2018 primarily as a tow truck to pull a 3,800 lbs. (if loaded) RV camper TT. Looks similar except no fog lights and only steel chromed wheel covers. It had just passed 69K miles so plenty of life left. Came with a LEER canopy and a slide out cargo cage. Got it a great price (was 2nd bidder and nobody bid after me) at auction of former U.S. Govt. vehicles. This one was used by TSA to support their K-9 mobile bomb explosives detection unit so back seat and rear interior door panels and speakers was missing. Took me half a day to shampoo interior and get out all the dog hairs. Along with a few minor electrical issues as it had slight modifications for TSA uses. Maybe that's why interest was low at the auction. After all was said & done with tax, registration, finding all missing parts at a junkyard, various minor repairs at local Ford service, and cost & labor to install a Prodigy P2 brake controller, got a nice truck for about $14.5K total. Funny thing was I bid on wrong truck as most govt. vehicles were white. But after all my time & work to make it whole again, very happy and glad with end results despite bid on the wrong vehicle. Also found some Ford themed and 4X4 decals on the internet to make it look sharp as it was all plain white when got it. Tows great and still only driven only1,100 miles since acquiring it almost 3 years ago as 3 other vehicles in our family of 4 with only my wife and myself as drivers. She doesn't drive the truck except to move it around our house & driveway.
Go to fordmakuloco He has a complete walk through on reviving the 5.4 I did mine with fomoco parts and a melling oil pump Very happy with out come Btw mine is a 2008 also I love this truck Only 97k on her too. Good luck with ur truck Also put a leveling kit on it too
Hey Buddy I know you posted this video a year ago but just wanted to let you know to get rid of that truck. I had that same truck and it was nothing but problems. I bought my brand spankin new out of the dealer. First the tranny went out at 30k miles , then the coils went out one by one then the rear end went out then constant issues with the window switches. The doors rattle like crazy. Then finally the motor went out at 75k miles. Also everyone I know that owned that model had the same issues. They are junk bro get rid of it trust me save the headache.
Only reason I haven’t sold it is because it’s paid off and still does what I need it to do. Even if I need to throw an engine at it in the next year I will be ahead money wise for the next few years. Going to drive this till its unusable. With the prices of truck nowadays, $5k for 100k miles is cheap compared to a $50k truck that has even more plastic electronic crap that will break
@@GravitarScrap yeah that makes sense. I know what your saying about trucks being so expensive now a days. After I got rid of that lemon ford I said to myself that my next truck I was going to buy will be the best out there. So I bought myself the new Ram 2500 with the bullet proof Cummins. Yes I paid 80k for it but couldn't be happier with how much truck I got.
@@sergioamescua6264 Good move there. I’m hoping that by the time this one dies out for good I can get a 6.7 for a good price, a deleted 6.7 f350 is the ultimate goal. I would sell this and get a 5.9 24v but everyone wants the world for their clapped out POS. I would want to get a completely stock version so I can tinker with it, but those are hard to come by in the south and getting a 2nd hand hack job is something I don’t want to deal with haha
lariat with no sub, no roof and no rear window........why bother buying one? and i really hope that you did not just put another set manifolds on it and went with proper headers

I’ve got a ‘07 super cab 4x4 with the 4.6 triton, bought it from my uncle with just under 80k on it. Got a rusty frame and no ac but it runs fine
Nice. I have one that looks exactly like that. If you still have it, would you show the blinker sounds? I haven’t heard what it sounds like in months
Great PU ! No problem with mine, Ford just keeps on going! 74, 94, and 2008!
Just got this as my first truck it’s so nice.
Got this as my first truck today

Thats horrible for a 3v to sit. Yall better drive it at least 10-15 miles a week or the rockers get sticky
I have my 05 desert edition , and it has 185,000 and still running ,always use mobile one ! People think it's a new truck
Nice

@@GravitarScrap yep it's unreal what those used Cummins sell for. But if you really want a truck you need to go 3/4 ton and up Diesel.
Where did you get the steering wheel cover? Nice and clean truck!
Duluth Trading Company. It was the only place that sold a Duck Weave steering wheel cover. I think it was like $20-$25
Is that the Auxiliary input, on top of the stereo system?
Yes it is, pretty sure they only came in the later versions of the 11th gens
no moon roof ?
Correct
What's a good price for a truck like this?
Depends on where you are in the country. 7-9k would be a good price where I'm at in the south
I just got a 2004 Ford F-150 XLT for $2800 with 115,000 miles! Still look brand new inside..
2008 is a lemon have a big pocket I have one
Had one also. They are garbage. Ford is junk
Only 156k on my 08'
