Whenever I see old globes I always date them by looking at countries, specifically their names and their borders.

After watching, tell me what year you date this one? I’m not sure I was correct on this one.
      As always, thanks for watching!

@@Nofrillsasmr This globe dates to between 1948 and 1953. See my comment above. And thank you Linda for your sweet replies. 😊

So right away I can tell this globe was manufactured between 1948 and 1956. India and Pakistan are separate countries (this partition happened in 1947) and Morocco and Tunisia are still colored in French blue so its pre 1956 because those 2 countries gained independence from France in that year. So, that’s 1948-1956.
To narrow it further I would check the border between North and South Korea. If it runs straight across the 38th parallel north, the globe was made before 1953. If not, then it was made between 1953-56.
That’s the best I could do without seeing the globe firsthand 😅
Edit: No border on Korea means pre-1953! So between 1948 and 1953.
Edit 2: If you want to narrow it down even further, you can check and see if Tibet is independent or a part of China. China annexed Tibet in 1950 and after a brief period of Tibetan independence since 1912.

@artemisbond9923, this is cool information to know. Don't mind me asking, but how do you know so much about globes?? I mean, sure, you could've googled it, but this "felt" like prior knowledge, and Google uses - YOU for that information, lol 😆 😆 😉.

@@surfinsamoan08 Thank you for your kind words, friend. I have an MA in History and, while I no longer teach history for a living, I still spend several hours a week reading about world history for pleasure. That, and I’ve always had a really good memory, which helps with remembering dates of things like famous battles and so on.

@@artemisbond9923 man, that's really cool! Seriously, it is. I work in education, but I don't teach. That said, I consider myself a "history buff," but nothing like this. What are the things that you to read??

    • @artemisbond9923

@@surfinsamoan08 For history I always started with the most basic and broadest introductions, like textbooks. Then I move on to individual countries or civilizations that I think are interesting. To keep it fresh I rotate my subjects and try to read a book a week, so 4 a month. This month is Japan month for me. So far this month I have read 3 books on Japanese history (which is very cool btw). Next month I am going back to Italian history. This keeps me from getting bored by reading about only 1 country. And my secret guilty pleasure is alternate history which is basically fiction about subjects like “what would have happened if the South won the American Civil War?” and scenarios like that. Definitely not serious stuff but diverting. 😅

@artemisbond9923 Man, listen, I just got giddy over this. This is really cool. In gonna kinda take what you do, and "keep it fresh!" That said, I really do love those "What if?" Scenarios (I'm looking at YOU, Disney with their spin-off of, 'What if?' I'm half Samoan, so, I think it's only right that I start my country research with Polynesia! I'm super pumped!

Gotta be from 1948 or 1949, If it was 50 and after germany would be split and also labrador and newfoundland would be part of canada; but if it was 47 and earlier it would have India and Pakistan together.
