  • This project started out when I received this Jeep from my wife, Charlotte, at Christmas in 2001. It has taken me 5 years to do all of the modifications on it. It was basically a shell and I purchased a Blazer for the frame. I did everything except for the paint job, upholstery and engine building.
It has been a fun 5 year project. Also see 1963 Jeep Willys Pickup.

My fresh air intake is the cowling vent. I put the body on the frame where I wanted it then added 10 1/2 inches to the frame so the back tires would fit in the fender well. Then I had to set the engine back 5 1/4 inches. My Jeep is 22 inches to the bottom of the rocker panel. I keep the Jeep in a trailer, but to put it in the garage I have to let the air out of the tires. The garage has a 7 foot door. I'm running 33 tires.

The windshield wiper motor is one thing I did not finish. It never rains where I live.

The toughest part was aligning the Blazer frame to the body to determined how much to add to the frame. Than making the body mounts.

I used an 84 blazer frame, but had to extend the frame. I was told a older Chevy pickup is the same wheel base as a Jeep pickup that might be easier.

The only thing I did to the firewall was to put a piece of sheet metal over it to cover the holes up.

Thanks for the posting the video about your Willys project. I have a 62 Willys that I am putting on a Suburban frame and got a couple of good ideas from your video like modifing the headlight frames for the radiator. My problem now is clearing the power steering box. Did you just mount the cab high enough to clear the steering box ? You did a GREAT job on the truck !!!
    Thanks

I added 3 1/2 inches to the front of the fender then tapered it back to original shape at the bottom.Did not cut the bottom inch+ of the fender

I did not have to raise the cab higher to clear the steering box. The steering box is on the outside of the frame most of it is under the front fender. I used 3 u-joints and one support bearing.

Sr. Congratulations! you are the best! I have a Project to! with station wagon 63.How Did you cut front fenders to add 3 1/2"? Did you cut from back to front fully or only in the top of fender? Could you help me please? I want to do somethink like that!

Have my cab over the frame. It is 5 inches higher than the stock position. When I put a fender on it needs an inch to clear the steering box.May raise the cab, which would raise the fender. Trying to keep it low enough to get in my garage. Right now,it is 23 inches to the bottom of my rocker panel. Think I am at phase you were 5 years ago. Have not plugged the heater hole on my firewall because I thought I might need an outside air intake. Do you have fresh air intake hidden somewhere ?

@@AJPvideo That's what I love to hear. Sometimes people get board after 3 years and move onto somthing else. I did a matching Willys truck & Wagon years back and had them for almost 20 years until I got leukemia. Well with a wife and 4 kids, man's got to do what a man's got to do. Im looking to do a truck again but they are getting harder to find. I love how you stretched the front fenders, that was a great mod. You have a heart felt beautiful truck..
