Hi Everyone. I hope you enjoyed the video. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below and I will get back to you. Happy soaping everyone.
I just luv how informative you are. Just one question, you may have already answered it. Once I have taken all precautions with the soap dough, how long will it last all sealed up?
Hi, I don't think I do specifically mention it in the video (silly me) If it's all sealed up it will last for ages, easily 6 months to a year (I don't have any older than that). I do find it actually improves with ages, certainly after a few weeks it's better than it is initially
@@gracelynnrosesoapsandmore969 Don't be afraid. It's actually easier than hotel processed soap, if you know what you're doing. I'm sure she can help you!!
Hi Lisa, thanks for this amazing video and for the info on Sorcery Soaps as well :) Do you think I can use wax paper in place of the cling wrap for lining the containers?
Anytime someone asks me how to make soap dough, I'm sending them here! This is fabulous! Thank you so much for the feature. FAr more than a mention, thank you, Lisa!
Hey Bee, thank you so much, well we'll be sending them back and forth between us then, so hopefully we'll get them covered. You are very welcome about the mention, there is no-one better for soap dough
Thank you for such a detailed tutorial. I made 60 oz of soap dough last Saturday, and just had the opportunity to work with it now - a week later. Soft, pliable, and simply delightful. I watched this video easily five times before I felt confident enough to do it myself with my own recipe. You really made it so easy. Thank you so very much!
I live in Canada. . I'm baffled by the crazy soap making restrictions you have.. crazy. Thank you for this rather informative video! And I really appreciate your humour. :)
This is the best video I’ve seen on how to make and store soap dough. I never realized I could just use my regular soap recipe. I’m going to give this a try. I’m so inspired by your beautiful soaps. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get to your level, but I know I can try some easier things. Thank you so much!!
I feel like I’ve learned something when I watch your videos; I also feel like a mystery has been solved and some trepidation about trying something new is gone and replaced with a bit of bravery. Thank you for sharing what you’ve learned! You are truly appreciated!
Hi Lisa, I just found your channel and must say I'm in AWE of your creations. You are an amazing artist! I'll be sure to follow you for inspiration, because I'm certain I'll never achieve your level of creativity and excellent execution, but willl enjoy your lovely work. All the best!
I've recently found your videos and subscribed to your channel and I just wanted to say how lovely your videos are. You're so patient and clear with your instructions and I just love your creativity! Thank you so much for everything you do! ❤
Thank you so much, Christine, ooh how exciting to get your extruder. Aw, sorry about the lack of normal intro. I was under real time pressure with this video and struggling to fit it in time wise, so that saved me a little bit of time. I'll be back on the next one :-)
You are an amazing teacher. Your knowledge is incredible and the way you are able to make your own tools, molds etc is awesome. I just love your videos and your creative soaps. One of my favorite channels by far. Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you so much, I'm so pleased you found the video helpful, it makes it worthwhile making videos when people benefit from them. Stay safe and well :-)
Wow, I'm so glad I found your channel. There are a lot of people making informative videos about soap but you're so thorough and cover so many topics -- thank you so much!
Hey Laura, thank you so much. I'm so pleased you like my videos, I do try really hard to give lots of good info and examples so they can be as useful as possible.
I had to rewind to make sure I heard correctly, “ in true MacGyver fashion “ 🤣 and I found that there is a remake of this show out as well! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial! You are so good at this.
I didn't realize how regulated you guys were in the UK! You actually have to pay to be able to sell each of your soap recipes so amazing to me... I also have a soap dough recipe on my channel that I call my Goldilocks recipe! It's not too soft and it's not too hard it's just right! Thank you for sharing all of that information, it was a very well done! Have a great week and stay safe😁
Yes it's such a pain and it means any time I make a soap I have to choose between trying to do something with the exact fragrance and colours in the exact proportions as well, or making a soap that I can't sell, and there's only so much you need for personal use. So pleased you like the video, you have a fantastic week too :-)
I enjoyed your video on soap dough very much! You are an excellent teacher. Your videos are so well organized and you have such a pleasant voice! Thank you.
Lovely video! Have you ever tried making millefiori type "canes" with soap dough, the way folks do with polymer clay? I've never tried making soap dough before, so I'm unsure of how much you can work it or if it would not lend itself well to that technique.
Hi, Lisa! So glad that I found your channel! I love your work and you are a wonderful teacher! Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom! From a beginner soapmaker :)
Thank you so much Mel, so pleased you find my videos helpful, always feel free to ask questions if you need anything explaining. I try to make sure I get back to everyone :-)
Thank you so much, that's so lovely of you. Missing Spain, we normally visit 2 or 3 times a year, our recent trip was cancelled (no surprise) Oh well hopefully soon :-)
Made some soap dough following your instructions last weekend and it came out great. Smushed it after 24 hours and have left it for a bit, sealed up and pretty. Can't wait to give it a go with my extruder. Thanks so much for the video and the tips :)
This video is very timely! I am about to jump into a soap dough project myself. I've been watching Sorcery Soaps and a few others preparing. I even bought one of Bea's books. That's a brilliant idea about using the leftover soap from a pour and making soap dough out of it. I'm definitely going to put that tip to use. Also that vacuum sealer is a cool machine!
Excellent news, Bee is so great, you won't go far wrong having a good read of her blog posts. Just jump in and have a play with some soap dough, you'll love it. It does take quite a bit of time though
Oh Melaney that doesn't sound good at all, you have me worried, have you been able to see a doctor? I'm so pleased you like the video and I rally hope you are feeling better soon (sorry, I can't put a heart on your comment, as I don't love the fact you are unwell) Take care xxxxx
Good tips! I remember Katie from Royalty soaps using a paper cup for some of her colors, and they came out a little crumbly. It could’ve been that it wasn’t air tight enough or that the paper absorbed some of the oils. I have gotten to try Sorcery Soaps dough. It’s good. I had a harder time smooshing it than my own, but other than that, they were equally difficult to work with. I went in with the expectation it would behave like clay or play dough, but it’s a slightly different animal for sure. It’s something I want to try playing with again soon since mine’s been sitting around a bit and see how it handles.
Hey Whittany, yes I think just using paper cups is a no go as they absorb the water, and being open to the air is bad news too. It certainly is different to play dough, it lacks the stretch that play dough or polymer clay has, so that does build in limitations. Do try your again, I think you will be pleasantly surprised how it seems to improve with age (as long as it's properly wrapped)
I watched your video just in time , I was going to give up in the idea of putting little pumpkins in my halloween soap collection , but you are a life saver!!! I will do as you say and make some pumpkin embeds now *w*
Thank you so much Gwendolyn Hale, I'm so pleased you found the video helpful, it makes it worthwhile making videos when people benefit from them. Stay safe and well :-)
I have so much I want to say but don't know how to say it plus it would take up a lot of space. In short...Thank you for all the wonderful information that you are sharing and the time you put into your videos. I really have enjoyed everyone of your videos and look forward to the next one! Thanks for this video because I have been very curious about soap dough. Thanks Lisa! 💚
You are so welcome Karen, I love making the videos although I'm always surprised by just how long the whole process takes from making the soap (or whatever) then editing and everything. But The thought that people benefit from them and it helps people out makes me very happy :-)
I Dream In Soap Hi Lisa! I have to be honest with you, I forget about how much it takes just to post one video. Especially the videos you post. It is not as if you press the record button and then a download button and you are done! I think that is one of the reasons I really enjoy your videos. They are informative, truthful, a little on the fun side of things and much more!!! If I ever forget to tell you, please remember that I really appreciate all you do! I still haven’t made my first bar of soap but after watching your videos I really think I can make soap now and even the kind with embeds! Once I get my mold, I will make me some soap!!! Thanks for all you do Lisa!
Thank you Lisa I really appreciate you taking the time to explain how to make the soap dough. I was taking mine to a thick trace putting it in a ziplock bag pressing the air out and refrigerating till it was ply able work it out the next day and wrapping with cling wrap. But it was sticky. Thanks again.
Hi Lisa ! I just wanted to pop on here and let you know that I followed your advice and Bee's advice to correct a few things that had gone wrong the first time around and then it worked ! I made a bunch of soap dough that way and could do it with my recipy :) so happy !!!!! thank you !
Thank you for another great video. I have been wanting to try to make my own soap dough for awhile but never had the confidence. I might just give it a try now 🙂
@@IDreamInSoap I made my first batch of soap 🧼 and it was not good. It came out oily and it started to separate. I don't know if I put too much oil or if I didn't mix well 💔
@@chaseriderthetruthchaser5988 You should not have been able to put too much oil in if you used your normal recipe which has gone through a lye calculator. It may be that you didn't get it emulsified properly so it has separated. Did you stick blend it to a good trace?
I absolutely love your videos, and just ordered more discs for the extruder I ordered. Everything from your videos to your soap, supplies, and packaging are just wonderful!
Ooh, I hope it does help. If you have a crumbly one again, try wrapping it up and sealing tight, you never know it may improve (unless it's really crumbly)
Hi Lisa! I made a larger batch than needed for the confetti soap I’m making. Going to now use the excess soap for soap dough. This is my first time, wish me luck! 😀
That is excellent, a great way to use up the extra and then have handy soap dough available when you need it. Good lick, keep it wrapped, and remember even if it's not great when you 1st unwrap it, say after a day, just wrap it up again and it will keep improving, don't give up on it. But hopefully it will be great straight away.
Amazing video and very informative! May I know do you add sodium lactate to the recipe or any additional additive? Usually how many % of hard oil do you use in soap dough recipe? Thank you.
Lisa, as always, an interesting and educational video. I’m glad you ‘smooshed’ the soap dough on camera, as it gave me a sense of the correct consistency. I could almost feel it in my fingers. Additionally, your extruder hack using piping tips is a bang-on time and money saver. Thank you.
Very well done! 👍. So easy to follow for those that are new to the soap dough experience. Warning to those new folks.......It can be addicting. 😉 Bea at sorcery soap is awesome, also!! Do like the vacuum packer idea, though. And shmooshing (😄). I would like mine to last longer. 👍
My recipe seems to make very sticky soap dough no mater how long I leave it. I never thought about using my vacuum sealing machine and bags. I use Bee's Lard soap dough recipe given on Utube and I bought 2 of her books. Thank you for another interesting and helpful video. I bought an exteder as I wanted a heart which came with it. I love using my extruder
Hey Tanya, thanks a lot. I've heard that Bee's lard recipe is suppose to be excellent and her books are so beautiful. Ooh I've not seen the extender set yet, having a heart sounds like a good disc to have. You are always so good to keep leaving comments (I see you commenting on other channels as well) it is really great of you.
Hi Lisa! So I just watched your transforming soap.... Just WOW! The comment section wasn't there, so thought I give you a shout out on this one :) You've inspired me. Now I want to try embeds! LOL Take care and thanks again for the wonderful videos!
New to soap-making; doing this for stress relief, and well, I enjoy maths and seeing them come to life. (I know, an odd duck). I would like to make some very special soaps for Christmas and also as Special Gifties for Nurse’s Day/Week (it’s a soft holiday in the US) and also for Doctor’s Day/Week. I work in healthcare and it’s nice to do a little something different from the lovely muffins and food 😉.
Hey Jane, oh that sounds so wonderful. Playing with soap dough can be very relaxing, but does take a while, so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to sit and enjoy what you're doing. If I'm making embeds or anything out of soap dough (unless very simple) I will typically make them one day and that's it, then make the soap the next day, rather than trying to get it all done in 1 day.
Thank you so much. He, he, I don't know about the wine and chocolate combo, maybe you're eating dark chocolate or something, I've tried it a couple of times and eeew not good, the same if you have red wine with your pudding. Perhaps I just haven't tested enough combinations, ooh now there's a project :-)
I learn so much from your videos. Thank you for sharing all that you know with us. Is my recipe of 60% hard oils to 40% soft sufficient for making soap dough?
Thank you! I enjoyed watching your video. I have been making soaps for years and have made soaps with embeds but have never used soap dough for an embed. I usually had to make them from mp because it would set up easier and I could shave it into shapes, etc.. I always used either some type of mold or cut one out of a long piece of soap. So this might be something I look at doing in my near soap adventures! Thanks so much!
Hi Angelia, it's certainly a great way to make embeds if you want them cold process but don't want a two day job. If you always have some soap dough around you can just make them whenever you like. I have a whole box of it at all times :-)
@@IDreamInSoap And now I am about to buy one more tool...the extruder. That Fimo one seems to have the best reviews. This is getting to be an expensive hobby since I don't market my soaps. I have made soaps for my family in the past, but never went in for the artistic elements. I just used EO scents I love and natural additives. Now I want to create all the beautiful designs I am seeing.
Food saver makes a hand held vacuum sealer as well as the regular versions! It works great with the bags it’s what the zip bags were originally designed for!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it as it helps my channel to grow.

Thank you so much, that is so lovely of you, I really appreciate your support, it means a lot
Gosh I needed this - I've just made my third batch (first worked, second crumbled) but this should help - thanks Lisa
Ooh, I hope it does help. If you have a crumbly one again, try wrapping it up and sealing tight, you never know it may improve (unless it's really crumbly)
Hi Lisa , very informative and well demonstrated. I remember watching MacGyver in the 80's. Happy Days !!
Hi Robin, thank you so much. I do like a good old MacGyver moment
The extruder tips are brilliant for many mediums, thank you! DUH, a washer to narrow the diameter!
Excellent, he, he, glad you liked the washer thing :-)
Wow Lisa, you are awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much Nilza, that's very kind of you.
Depending on the wine, dark chocolate does taste good together 😁🖤
I must be trying the wrong wine, maybe I need to give it another go :-)
Amazing video and very informative! May I know do you add sodium lactate to the recipe or any additional additive? Usually how many % of hard oil do you use in soap dough recipe? Thank you.
Thank you, yes I do add sodium lactate. My recipe is 45% hard oils
Lisa, as always, an interesting and educational video. I’m glad you ‘smooshed’ the soap dough on camera, as it gave me a sense of the correct consistency. I could almost feel it in my fingers. Additionally, your extruder hack using piping tips is a bang-on time and money saver. Thank you.
Thank you so much Sharon, I'm so pleased you found it useful. You are so good to always leave comments for me, I really appreciate it 😊
You're quite relaxing to watch. Glad i've subscribed. I like the question style you applied to this particular vid. It felt like class but fun lol 😊
AW that's lovely to hear, thank you so much BossGirlDiaries, and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment for me 😊
@@IDreamInSoap No, thank you chic for producing great content & You're most welcome 💜 I'm looking forward to the next vid!
Thanks so much Cheryl, the vacuum packer does keep it really well and I completely agree Bee is fantastic
Ooh well that's odd, no comment section, I'm sure it use to have one. I will go and check it out. Thanks for letting me know Tami
Thanks for your sharing video , can you make a video how i make soap clay
Hi, this is a video to make soap clay, soap dough and soap clay are the same thing. Best wishes
Very helpful, thank you! I made some soap dough today for the first time, so fingers crossed it turns out nice.
Ooh excellent news I hope it came out really well.
Thanks Lisa for another great video. I have to take issue with you on one thing though - chocolate goes BRILLIANTLY with RED wine.
Thank you for this tutorial. It was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful Laurel, thank you for leaving me a comment 😊
Thank you
Hi Margaret thank you so much
I learn so much from your videos. Thank you for sharing all that you know with us. Is my recipe of 60% hard oils to 40% soft sufficient for making soap dough?
Yes, that should be fine, that's pretty well what mine is
Thanks again Lisa ... good clear information well presented many thanks ❣️❣️❣️❣️🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🐝🐝🐝🌈🌈
Hi Teresa lovely to see you again, thank you so much for taking the time to leave another comment for me 😊
Thank you for the great tips on soap dough. Another great video!
Thank you so much Branka, that's very kind of you.
Your soaps are stunning!
That's so kind of you to say Wiis Plays, thank you so much 😊
Thank you so much this. I have been wanting to learn about soap dough.
Excellent news, thank you for leaving another comment for me Catherine, I appreciate it :-)
@@IDreamInSoap And now I am about to buy one more tool...the extruder. That Fimo one seems to have the best reviews. This is getting to be an expensive hobby since I don't market my soaps. I have made soaps for my family in the past, but never went in for the artistic elements. I just used EO scents I love and natural additives. Now I want to create all the beautiful designs I am seeing.
Another wonderful informative and super helpful video. Thank you for your quality content!!
Thank you so much Beck, I'm so please you liked it, you are so good to always leave comments for me, I really appreciate it 😊

Amazing!
Awesome video, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Glad you enjoyed it Karen, thank you so much :-)
Food saver makes a hand held vacuum sealer as well as the regular versions! It works great with the bags it’s what the zip bags were originally designed for!
Ooh yes they do, that's right that would work great and not be too costly. Thank you so much for adding this :-)
So many helpful details.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, and thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it as it helps my channel to grow.
Wowwwweeee! Thank you só much! I learned a lot!! 🤩👏🏻
