Ever notice that this song is the only one in the game that doesn't actually "damage" the opponent? The Legendary Theme was not meant to fight wars, it was meant to end them. Love, peace, and rock n roll.
Be Excellent To Each Other!
Yeah, I loved that, its like the game of "Fighting with music" at the same time shows that music is not to fight, but to bring peace
Damn right
that hit hard
This song does damage when played on an acoustic guitar.
It takes balls to call something the legendary theme
It takes heart and soul to keep that promise
You could say it takes a rubber soul.
@@mattd8725 Honestly, there's some pretty Beatles-y stuff in this theme, though a bit of a harder instrumentation and mix then they could've done though
The thing that makes this theme so beautiful to me is that U-1 knows it by heart. It isn't explained or stated how he learned it or what significance it has to him or why it is "legendary". He just knew to play it to soothe Kirah in the campfire without even transforming into Gitaroo Man, like a simple love song. And then he did it again to move her and the people to stop fighting. The sound the old man mention they all had forgotten for so long, was a simple love song.
This is it, this is the Sound.
That glorious sound?
We've forgotten this sound for soo long...
MarcsterS *sob sob*
The light the light ! *cough cough*
@@jacegraber9938 It's Okay Miranda (Comforts him)
This song is like a summer vacation from your youth coming to an end and you know that you'll never forget it for the rest of your life
I played Gitaroo Man for the first time the week after I graduated middle school, and I came back to listen to this song during the last few months of my senior year of high school a lot because I knew it would be the perfect vibe for it. And coming back a decade after that, it was the perfect song to encapsulate the end of youth! Time flies....
Exactly
This fits into a very niche type of music that I have a deep nostalgia for. Music from FLCL comes to mind
THIS
asian kung-fu generation too!! they have that very specific early 2000s vibe that scratch my brain good
It's like this song is saying "I'm never going to leave you, I'll be here forever."
fuck.
Damn, it’s been awhile bro, but I get what you’re saying 100%!!!
It totally has that vibes, dude. Thank you for bringing that out
Gitaroo Man DID NOT stay forever and left Kirah IMMEDIATELY
this no joke is probably (at least in my opinion) one of the best songs in the game, possibly in video game history. It gives me such nostalgic vibes, each time I listen I get a little teary eyed :')
You know... when I read this... it felt right... I literally scrolled throughout every video game I played... and this theme literally just fits any piece together and every piece...
The song is emotional. The song is powerful. The song is legendary.
The Legendary Theme. If you fail in composing a song with such a name, you can be considered arrogant. But if you succeed in it, like the case, you'll be considered AWESOME!
It really is quite a rare thing in this day and age for something to both set high expectations and then also meet them. It's a magical moment to discover when it does.
Mahaveez I entirely agree
The composer is the true gitaroo man
Reading these comments and seeing that we all have this deep emotional connection to this piece was too much for me, the tears are flowing. I find it so beautiful that all of us, wherever we are in the world, are all united by The Legendary Theme.
For real man, it’s a Ps2 game and it brings out so much. Absolutely beautiful.
Calling a song, The Legendary Theme, requires a song of this caliber
I hope this song plays at the end credits of life as my spirit flys through the stars
This played when Jesus ascended to heaven
this is the same feeling i have about this song, its perfect
That would be so dope!
A new Gitaroo Man and a new Parappa the Rapper. That's all I want.
I 100% agree!
they will never be able to live up to your expectations
+Sk3tch00d
it's better than nothing!
Look up Project Rap Rabbit. Won't be PaRappa or Gitaroo Man, but the creators of both will be involved.
Marcus Uhrich project failed ;-;
When are we gonna get a rhythm game as epic as this again?
+Anders Eklöf
A Gitaroo Man x Um Jammer Lammy Crossover would be the most amazing thing ever.
Well... Sony is taking requests for which PS2 games get remakes. But considering how underrated this game is, it has little chance of getting one.
When the devs that made this team up with Jack Black to do a Tenacious D rhythm game
If Okage could make it, literally anything's possible.
lmao not even in the same ballpark
I never had this game as a kid. I've never even played it once, I just saw a streamer play it. But for some reason this song literally brings me to tears. It's just so emotional and powerful, one of the few songs I personally consider beautiful.
pb25801705 k
+pb25801705 why the hate
I love this song just like evan
Evan Duvanel Watched my dad play on Ps2 as a kid, finally got to play after I was old enough to handle it and oh my goooddd. Hearing this soundtrack makes me cry every time I think about dancing to these as my dad played through almost masterfully lmao. I’m literally crying as I type this, I have such a confusingly sentimental attachment to this game that it would be a sin if I didn’t take these memories to the grave :,)
@@myparentsaredivorced4573 your story plus the name makes me laugh
StopFlaggingVideos bruh
I don't know why, but I get flashbacks to FLCL whenever I hear this song...
No One That Special same here it honestly fits the bill
prominence of electric guitar
I feel it too. Reminds me of The Pillows or Macaroni Enpitsu.
FLFC?
It reminds me of those tracks from Sonic Adventure too
You are the true Gitaroo Man
Great picture, i love Disgaea too..
This sounds like a really good, goodbye song at the end of a movie
A real banger over the end credits!
1:56 Has so much emotion to it, its nuts.
I recently learned that this track has a vocal rearrangement by the composers themselves, COIL
The title is Dokusho no Susume, or Recommended Reading in English. It's as lovely as the original, if not more.
Man, I love Gitaroo Man so much. I played the demo when I was 7 years old and fell in love with the music and aesthetics of the characters. I even made U-1 one of my imaginary friends for a while. Later as a 24 year old I felt a need to play it again and I bought it off eBay and then started to really read into the storyline. U-1 is a lot like me, and he had to conquer his fears to become his true self. That is what I am currently trying to do in my own life. It's a weird connection. I wish they would make a sequel. I would love to see more of U-1 and his life after being Gitaroo Man.
Saaaame, but I don't think they'll ever make a sequel.
Maybe Someone in this games community will do it, as sort of a fan project.
@@Damien_Fox I really hope it happens, somehow❤
@@pantegohummus8215
I recently got this game on an emulator for my phone, so I've just been playing it alot, especially whenever I'm bored
Its so hard to believe this has been around for over a decade and a half. I will never stop listening to this song.
Tyler Em I come back to this video every so often and I feel so warm and nostalgic over this song, it really brings out pure emotion
two decades baybeeee
@@Goozeeeee Hell yeah. This song is still a mainstay in my playlist and has played during many interesting times in my life. Good stuff.
@@robokid20001 found this song yesterday. I’m gonna be coming back to this one forever. It’s too good
@@waypastlame Check out the acoustic version too. It'd absolutely excellent.
It has been 12 years and yet this song is still deserving of the title "the legendary theme"
21 years man, its been out since 2002
@@suicidalchildbuckaroo1915 well it still deserves that title
I think people really underestimate the impact a song can have on a person
I love comment sections like this. Small place where everyone gets along
How to bring a man to emotional tears
*1:Put this song on*
*2:Watch him fall to his knees and cry with him*
never even heard of this game.. gives of hella flcl vibes 😭
I heard this song from a meme and it reminded me of flcl. And now I'm here
U-1, you are a reminder of what I wanted in my life but didn't happen. You obtained the one you wanted through the sound of music. You connected through music with the one you love. If only the same was for me.
hope life has treated you well now that 4 years have passed dude. Are you U-2 now?
Fuso Negro holy shit he is a U-2
But he didn't!! He left her behind, and went back to that other fickle wench.
何年経っても色あせない名曲…
나에게 클래식은 이 노래야 벌써 이 노랠 들은지 15년이 지났어 난 오늘부터 다시 기타를 잡을거야
정말 잡고 다시 치는중입니당 ㅎㅎ
This song has the most feels I’ve ever heard in any game, and it needs no lyrics.
I've never even heard this song and I feel the feels man, nostalgic for something I've never seen before.
@@noahboddie3482 Play the game man, it's really short, in an evening it's over
Dokusho no Susume
You're welcome.
I've never played Gitaroo Man, never heard anything about it really, but when I stumbled across this masterpiece it legit brought tears to my eyes. It feels like being a teenager, put into a song somehow
Many years later, and I'm back here again... Suddenly... I am filled with memories, great memories that can't be forgotten. I've changed since then, but my self really still remains. I love this. This is truly legendary. I miss this.
This is quite possibly one of, if not THE greatest song I've heard in a game. Fucking beautiful.
(sniff) Naw, dude, I'm fine, I just have something in my eye...
I love this song so damn much! It just wipes away all my troubles
The song hits so hard, especially in the context of the story. I feel so emotional every time I hear it. It literally feels like a shonen anime, but as a rhythm game with bigger emotional stakes. We’ve literally watched U-1 grow throughout his adventure. It’s so satisfying to see him win.
remember, you only have one life. make a move, make your mark, and make it count...
I cry everytime. So beautiful ;-;
*oh*
Is this what Tenacious D meant by 'the best song in the world'?
instead we just got a Tribute
it better be
I do believe it is.
You don't need lyrics to compose a legendary theme.
No joke at the name. This song is Legendary for real. oh man i can't stop hearing this
This is a man's lament for forgiveness, a rocker's true love song, and a final resting requim...all at the same time.
ちっせぇ頃は他のネタ曲が好きだったのに、アラサーの今だとこの曲が1番好きだわ……涙が出てくる
2015 and this still tops my list of favorite songs... U-1... You ROCK! ^_^
It's just soooooo good!!!!!
the type of song that’s kinda hard to listen to cause it gives really strong feelings of nostalgia that it’s almost suffocating
2017, the legendary theme, for a legendary game.
I love this song, because it's full of emotion and the Amazing part is... Its all guitar.
And percussion?
Yeah and percussion, good ears :)
There's also bass. And don't forget the theremin at the end.
I like how despite being uploaded in 2009, the sound quality is better than most ripped game osts
This song always gives me vibes of THAT one summer when things change for you. Friends come and go, you change for better or worse and life continues on. I love it
I don't care what people might think. When i die this is the song i want to be played at my funeral. Like some people said in this comment section: its a song fitting for saying goodbye to something unforgettable.
The comments making me shed some tears
I don't understand how a single song can make me so emotional. It truly is legendary.
I've never played the game, I only found out about the song from a 'meme' (it was just an image really) I saw a few years ago with the picture being a (assumedly) Japanese school girl standing on the roof of her house, holding a guitar, staring off into the sunset, and this track was the music that was put over it. I fell in love with both this track and the image instantly, I usually hate saying shit like this, but something about them gave off something that i felt on an emotional level, and ever since then, its been one of my all time favorite things saved to my phone. A little under a year ago, that phone shit itself, and everything on it was completely lost. When listening one of my playlists today, I came across this song again. The thought popped into my head that I should go find that image again, but then I realized I don't have that image anymore. Suddenly really bummed out. At least I still have the song.
happy 21st birthday to gitaroo man :D
damn this needs a sequel.....If not, a reboot at the very least.
TekRift ...niiice. soo smooth. But God, I would like a game sequal instead. XP
+Dean V. Oh now I get what you meant haha
Absolutely agree.
We need a Gitaroo Man 2 :D
If it does get a sequel, then it will have quite a pair of boots to fill.
Me and my older brother found this in a library. I remember us getting it because it made us think about Naruto which was popular at the time. We never beat it because we had to return it.
I remember a some years later going on RUclips when i got my first computer and looking for it and then got introduced to the songs we didn't get to in time. I believe this and the acoustic version were the first time I cried listening to music. I've been listening ever since. Gained and lost friends and family but this music has always been there to give me hope.
Nothing would give me more joy than to see this franchise see some sort of a resurgence instead of fading into obscurity.
Maybe that's part of why I love it though. The fact that it's grown alongside me and will someday fade away like me. Obviously the internet is a powerful thing, so hopefully this music will live long past me and help other people like it helped me.
Here's some lyrics from COIL's song Reading Reccomendations. It's a song based off the Legendary Theme, they made it as a tribute of one of their favorite projects, Gitaroo Man. These lyrics are from the Koei Wikia.
After flying through the sky, crossing the oceans,
and transcending through time, you came at last to me
Like I was the sole treasure of your eye,
you looked straight at me and told me
and only to me
Ah, I wrote this just for you
Take any part you like if you want
Because like the water, like the wind,
like the light, you will be there
right here with me
Ah, I wrote this just for you
Burn it right away if you don't want it
Ah, I lived only for you
Ask me any time if you want to know more
As though you were the water, as though you were the wind,
as though you were the light, as though you were alive
We need more quirky rhythm based Japanese games like Gitaroo Man.
It’s 2020... I would love a sequel to this game but would 100% settle for a remake or port to ps4. So many emotions for a rhythm game.
I will forever be mad that I lost the game for the psp. I miss this game with all my heart :(
Whenever I feel down or need something to get me going, I listen to this.
Such a simple rift but very powerful.
I finally found the song that I was looking for.
This here is a tribute theme to the guitar gods
The first time my partner spent the night with me, I remember lying in bed with them, gave them my headphones and simply told them to listen. There are very few songs that can capture the feeling of success and clarity quite like this one
I felt like a Rock God nailing this bad boy on Master Play mode. Truly the golden era of PS2 gaming.
Watching the sunset of a warm summer day you spent with friends or a gf
처음 이 노래를 들은지 20년이 지난 지금도 들으면 마음이 흔들린다..
I still come back to this.
Thanks Hazel
i love this song. i love how they made it feel like the guitars are singing harmoniously.
this song... is perfect
This is the legendary sound that we've been looking for
The indomitable human spirit theme
never even played gitaroo man but still, it holds such emotional weight
Still gives me tingles EVERY time.

Such a beautiful song! It's very easy to learn to, for anyone starting to play guitar!
No words to describe this song... it's just great
I think this is the song Jack Black was talking about in Tribute
last day of summer vibes 😪😌
I still cry every time I listen to this
Brings back a lot of memories
I've never played the game but my friend introduced me to this song and I fell in love with it immediately. After many years I still wander back here

One heck of a legendary game with one heck of a legendary soundtrack. :')
GITAROO MAN NEEDS TO COMEBACK!!!!!!
Happy new years everyone, this is my favorite song of the decade
the 2nd PS2 game I owned. Love this game so much
I hear this song for 12 seconds and It already slaps.
And this came out on the PS2 that fucking crazy for how amazing this sounds
I've never even played this game, stumbled across this song on reddit and it feels nostalgic. I love this

I am literally considering a $700 purchase _just to learn this song._ That's how good this damn game is.
I had never heard of this game or song, I heard it in the background of a RUclips video, but goddamn this makes me emotional. Good shit, I need to check this game out now.
Careful! Masters Mode is SAVAGE, but it's a great game. 👍🏻
