This song is the ultimate guitar battle, I'm not even joking. The way the insanely dirty guitar plays a stark contrast to the cleaner guitar just sells me on this song so much. I love it.
yes, definitely, the versus version of the song is even crazier because the two harmonize each other and charge, zowie actually takes initiative and charges with gitaroo man
when i played this game for the first time, i thought the enemies would be like "Fuck your charge phase" and would just keep attacking, turns out i was wrong the the enemies DO follow the rules.
I love the charging parts sounding so heartfelt from U-1, while the attacks are a bit more harsh. Like at this point the Gitaroo's sound can heal him any time he wants. And then of course Zowie's sounds like it's actually broken because he's become ultra evil.
What makes this song even cooler is the context. Either guitar is one of two ultra-powerful warriors fighting with music as their weapon. This song is NOT what plays during the fight. Rather this song IS THE FIGHT. It makes the whole thing THAT much more incredible.
Yeah, they NEVER strum their gitaroos in that fight, they literally play from their hearts, and that's not a hyperbole, we see their attacks coming from their chests. I would even bet that Gitarooman has become a LITERAL a Gitaroo himself in that final fight, which would explain why the attack comes from him instead of his weapon.

@@BattleCattleSA non issue. I’m still yet to hear the final boss but thats because I’ve been busy the past few days. I’ve been playing a bunch of games on them and I haven’t noticed any latency that has thrown me off. Between the latency of the TV and the controller input I bet the emulator itself is the least of my issues. I’m using PCSX2, and once you get the right bios files every .iso I’ve gotten has worked great. And for the best price.
Or the controller destroyer. Serously a brand new controller and by the end of the game the face buttons were sticking and didn't have their usual pop back.
I came back to this game after about 7+ years of not touching it. When I used to play it I never even tried Sanbone Trio. But the first day I got it back, I wasnt able to complete any other level other than the first... On the second day, I can first try every level with relative ease. But still no match for master mode
Not sure what the odds are of getting an answer on a 13-year-old video but can someone who knows about recording sound/distortion tell me what effects are being used here? Especially at 1:54 and 2:44 (could the divebomb-y, electronic-sounding whistly noises reasonably be reproduced with instruments live or only done in post?) i don’t know much about this kind of thing but am very curious about how this song was made
1:54 sounds like bending the strings above the highest fret with a high-gain distortion, using the whammy bar to play higher than the intonation of the neck, by pulling the bar up and continuing to pick with the same hand. the whistly stuff at 2:44 sounds as though a "slide" is being used very high up the neck. most likely above the pickups and further. Herman from Dragonforce will pull his whammy bar out of its socket to use as a slide. Or it could be squeaky tremolo springs with high-gain distortion. but they would be harder to control, musically. Some parts may be pitch shifted via use of a pedal, which combined with the harsh square wave on most distortion effects, can give you the "low-bitrate" kind of sound, because of how the pedals resample the guitar signal. There is also some "killswitch" fluttering after one of Zowies parts at 2:12. A killswitch allows you to rapidly mute all signal from your guitar, so you can make unusual staccato noises and silence various parts of your pick attack. Check out the song "Jordan" by the guitarist Buckethead. There is also some studio dubbing or track manipulation going on. But for the most part, all this stuff is possible to play live.
@@davutdogru1941 I beat sanbone trio on master mode recently, the levels that come after it are actually easy for me. For me, Sanbone trio was the last level LOL!
@@Armadder yeah I once played it again and actually beat it completely for the first time! after Sanbone trio I noticed that it actually was the last level to become harder because of the changes of the notes. The last 3 levels are actually the same just with the difference that the enemy's damage output is higher and yours is a bit lower than usual. Besides that the notes were more stretched and faster, but in the end you must have the same timing so yeah... Sanbone Trio, the true last enemy
no lie, there is a part or 2 that are ONLY doable by moving your left thumb over to the butons to press them fast enough, and i hat to use the greese from lays potato chips so i could bove my thum around the buttons faster, because picking up your thumb to press buttons was TOO SLOW. seriously, it was a nightmare, but after that i damn near flew through the rest of the game lol. and that zowie's gitaroo is actually artificial, which is why his parts sound so chaotic and "dirty"

Who would have thought such a silly looking game would've had such a hardcore end?
*raises hand*
it didnt sell well back when it first came out, witch is weird because the music for this game is badass for a game that came out in 2001
Gregorio and Sanbones are worse, especially on Masters.

Sounds like it should be in an episode of Fooly Cooly
More like, everything FLCL could have been, instead of pink haired girl just bonking everything on the head with the guitar.

Dragon force uses a lot of techy sounding noises with the tuning or pickup strings, and pitch dives by pulling on the whammy
