WaysToStudy i love your channel, your tips are so useful and i've been doing much better at university because of you! Im a university student in the states hoping to apply for a law degree as well :) i also found that i've been saving a lot of time by your tips too so thank you, you've been a life saver
Elizabeth Liu, this is actually such a good idea! I always love how good your videos are and I can already tell that you are a hard worker! Also your handwriting is so neat! I also love taking notes within my computer! Keep up the good work ❤️
I don't know how people can write notes on their laptop at all. I have done it before but I don't remember anything!! Writing on paper is so much easier and re-writing my notes in my notebook really does help after the lecture also re'watching the lecture
my writing is terrible and I can't get used to acronym yet so laptop writing is making itnsuper easy to follow and not loose content. BUT its not with the laptop I will study I will rewrite and reorganize on paper tonfit my study style
The best way to remember and to study is your own way. If writing your notes is best, then do it. If typing on your laptop is best, then do it. Choose the method that suits you. The only important thing is to understand the lecture ☺
One thing i do is get the powerpoint up (my lecturers usually upload the powerpoints)and then edit it, there is a note taking section under the powerpoints where i type for that specific slide. If they have anything else, i usually take a picture on ym phone and then go over it at home
Big tip: Handwrite really fast, then type it ASAP after class. You don't have to worry about handwriting, it can be messy but you'll still remember what you wrote, and the best part is you're reviewing. I barely studied because of this.
Thank u for the idea, so I should do it after I reach from school directly? I come at 15:45 from school, I take a shower and until 17:00 i need to cook, will this still work if I rewrite the notes after 5-8 hours? Or should I rewrite them at school in my lunch break those notes from 8 to 11:30?
I actually do the opposite of this! I can type really fast on my computer without effort so it helps me get down more information during the lecture. Afterwards, I handwrite my notes which helps me pick out the main ideas and discard anything that may not be as important. Either way, reviewing your notes will help you! :)
If you learn to type then it would be more efficient if you typed the notes and then wrote them down on paper after. Seeing as you are able to type a lot faster than you can write
I love to re-write my notes, but condensed. My final notes are usually half the length or even less than my original notes. It helps me cut out the 'crap' from the original and condense into trigger words. I think it helps me solidify my learning
Can you make a video on just HIGHLIGHTING ; like how you color coordinate , how do you know what to highlight , so you're not over highlighting or not highlighting enough . I have the Mildliner Zebra highlighters which I love , but I need ways and advice on highlighting because I tend to highlight TOO much or not enough .
IMO there is not too much or not enough, it's up to you ! My class neighbor highlights everything in one colour and personally I highlight a little but with five different colours ! I hate her method and she hates mine but we like our 😂
There's a lot of ways of highlighting. You can start by choosing a few colors (let's say green, blue and purple), and give each one of them a "rol", for example, blue to highlight dates, green for key words and purple for important names. That makes studying a lot easier as you can clearly see every single one of them with their meanings.
I personally like to rewrite my notes! If I just read my notes, then my mind wanders and I do not retain any information. Writing something down multiple times helps it stick in my mind. Plus I find writing relaxing but that is just me 😄
For those of you saying rewriting lecture notes helps with memorization - yes, that may be the case but spending study time rewriting notes is still different from spending time actively recalling what you have learned. When you rewrite notes, you tell yourself you remember the material better than you have in actuality since you will only remember if you have written something down, but what if you come across questions that combine different concepts? Will you remember writing that down before? No, because you would have never written it down before. In summary, spend less time having fun rewriting notes (I'll admit I enjoy it but know it doesn't help much now) and spend more time rereading and TESTING yourself to see if you can remember and apply concepts correctly. -From a fellow uni student

Meanwhile, my classmates who just read it never get to understand the material like I do, because they just read it but when I rewrite my notes I usually research further online on each subject, watch videos and complement my notes. Behesht Khoja yes that would help a lot! Because when I am sick, I really don't want to be behind on school work and homework. I especially don't want to miss lectures. I generally just summarize the power point that my teacher provides on his web sight, but I still would really appreciate the video if that would be possible 😀
Behesht Khoja When you're sick I don't think studying is the right thing to do. But if you really need to get something done, don't study for too long, take longer breaks and drink water so you keep hydrated
I completely understand what you were saying about not havibg that overview of the lecture once you re write your notes, but personally for me If I don't, i will never go back and look at my typed notes. The only time I actually studied and remembered was when i re wrote my notes neatly in a notebook or on flash cards. When I type notes im just mindlessly copying, but when i re write them at home i take the time to soak in the info. It honestly depends on what class for me
This is really helpful and a great video! I have an oral presentation coming up on Friday and I'm so nervous because I don't speak loud enough for them to hear me and all eyes will be on me.
Cut3ACraft good luck!! What I always like to keep in mind is that the people in the classroom don't care about your presentation and as long as you don't do anything extremely weird, they will forget everything within 10 minutes. That always calms me and gives me confidence to do my best!
WaysToStudy I love your channel because it helps me in studying. Because of you I change, if in the past I hate studying but now I think I can't procastinate anymore💖
This video was very informative, but I don’t think it is a bad idea to rewrite your notes later on and it will not “destroy” the thought process you had when first taking the notes in class. Actually it can help you remember what you discussed in class and rewriting has been proven to help improve your memory on what you’re trying to learn. Just thought I would put that out there.... thank you for sharing your tips✌🏼
Thanks a lot. You have no idea how your videos help and motivate me throughout. I literally wasted my last session and I was so worried as this is the most important year of my life. I want to utilise it efficiently and this will certainly help me. My new session starts in April.
I like that when I write notes, I tend to write messy and if I have time at home or over the weekend I like to re-write my notes if they’re too messy and if there is a upcoming test it would be a good revision tip.
completely agree with you! rewriting notes and generally writing them instead of typing into the PC is soooo demanding, time consuming and contra-productive, it sucks all the energy and none is left for the actual memorizing of the information haha :-)
Oh my god thank you!!! This is super simple but I feel like it’ll be effective!! I’m not someone who can get all color crazy during the lecture while taking notes and I also have a hard time with paying attention.
Oh my goddddd you are so so so right about not rewriting notes! I watched so many vids telling to rewrite so i did but i do realized that i remembered the ugly jots i jotted in class rather than the pretty coloured rewrite notes. NOW IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE THANKKK YOU SOSOSOSOSO MUVH
Whenever I actually type my notes on my laptop it would take me an hour and a half to make 4 or 6 paragraphs😂 I prefer writing it unlike typing it bc I pretty much forget all of the materials and distract me a lot
you have to travel two hours? woah, talk about dedication. I'm finishing high school next year and I'll be doing European studies in Den Haag. I have to travel an hour and a half for that, rip me.
Hi! I have a question. How long do you usually 'have fun' in a day? (including taking a break from studies and watching netflix) Thanks for replying in advance! I LOVE your videos :)
Chelle hi, tbh I don't know, i don't keep track on that, especially because i multitask a lot ( for example facetiming with my boyfriend while sending emails or annotating notes)
I can't keep things simple. I've always either wrote a whole lot of useless things down, highlighted the whole page as important and at the end of the day I felt so tired but haven't learned anything at all. If I start highlighting, I'll pay more attention to the thing I'm doing instead of actually reading whatever I'm supposed to read. Also taking notes on a laptop during lectures is impossible for me. I'm an engineering student graphs, tables, diagrams are a part of every single class and are impossible to keep track of with a word document so hand written notes are the only way and it becomes overwhelming very quickly...
when I was in high school, I always have to rewrote my note because I wrote so fast in the class ...my handwriting look so bad, but u re right. I can't really remember what I wrote like when I did it in class because I only copy paste it in my book
I like to type my notes out in class because I find it difficult to write down everything I want to but I can do it faster and get down more by typing. But at the end of the day or during a free period I'll write out my notes in my copy. This way my notes are easier to read (because I find it difficult to read off a screen) plus I'm doing a bit or revision (studies show that students who even just reread their notes are more likely to remember things)
You should make an how to for taking notes on a computer in class! I suck at it and i loose so much time in class trying to make my notes clear and make them all well aligned :'( loved them video though 💗
If the professor talks really fast, I just write down as much as I can and then I make my notes look clear and well aligned after the lecture before I print them
for anyone who's trying to understand the different note taking methods out there, I recommend reading "A Mind for Numbers" by Barbara Oakley. I loved that book!
Hi! So I've been watching your channel for a while now and I admire the way you study I wish I could be like you! And I love your handwriting! Could you make a handwriting video, like how to make your kind of handwrite? thx ❤
Funny. I always summarize before the lecture so I know what I want to ask questions about before hand and I can focus on the the stuff I don’t get. But it might also be because my course specifically stated that everything in the book is important and they don’t talk about everything in the lectures. I guess it really depends on the type of course
WaysToStudy yeah! It’s so awesome to see all the different ways of studying. I also feel it heavily depends on the course you follow. I love your channel!
Yes it definitely does! It also depends on the type of exam you are getting and other factors but this method is just something that worked for me for the past 2,5 years in law school! xx
Can I have a question that why do you print in only one side of the paper but not both? I saw many people doing that but just can't understand because in my country, they usually print in both side in order to save up paper as much as they can.
SamusLovesMilk I think they meant when you go through and highlight and annotate notes in pen in can bleed to the other side, so if you have things printed there it can get messy and confusing
For me, personally, I sometimes get to my classes late and I don’t have time to grab my books, so I just write at the back. And it’s better than having to rewrite a word or something because you can easily cross reference it.
The problem with me is, I'm a fairly young viewer (13) and all my target grades are 7A's and above (target grades that Year 11's are barely even getting) and it's really difficult for me to absorb everything in because my teachers take everything at rocket speed. Because I'm trying to write down as much as I can (because writing is how I acknowledge information better) my handwriting looks awful and I can barely read it unless I re-do the notes in a neater handwriting at the end of the day. We're not allowed to bring laptops into school as... I'm not sure because it may be a British thing? But yeah. I'm really nervous because I don't particularly know whether to carry on in my normal method of note-taking or to try and find another way. (P.S. if you ask the teachers to slow down we get a detention for talking back)
Haterzgonnahate 01212882012 I would try not writing too much? Maybe ask the teacher about it, my History teacher actually checked if my notes were okay when I was having a hard time for the course :)
you really shouldnt be this stressed out about your grades when youre only 13 😂😂 try to take it bit easy while you still have the luxury to do so otherwise you will burn yourself out and when the time comes you will find yourself procrastinating with no energy to revise. Im speaking from experience as someone who thought i had to work hard every single day at school pretty much since i started year 9. Since I also went to school in Britain, I'd say you can get away with taking it easy from year 7 to year 10, then knuckle down and you can easily get your target grades. Also 100% chilllllllllllllllllll out the summer after your GCSE's are over bc A Levels will be the death of you. Good luck👍🏽
Hey!
Thank you for the great videos! Can you give some suggestion about how to make a paper for publishing in short time like one or two weeks?Im strangling in this and so stressful for making paper.
Im a freshman this year in college, and I have alot of problems studying what do you recommend? And what type of computer would you recommend for college?
I don't even know what I'm going to study next year (failed 1st year of filmschool and to much credits on the topic I failed to do it again...) but I'm watching this anyway haha
I'll be in the front of the class. Students still talk during lecture. I only fall asleep during the lecture, for the first week. Basic information; talk about something advanced that will keep me awake professor
Thanks for the advice! One challenge I have is why would you re read your notes if you've already been over them in class? Seems to me that if you've read them before class and experienced the content in class there is no need to read them again. Would it not be more effective to test yourself (either by retrieving the information from scratch afterwards or setting yourself some test questions)?
Story Time I know this is late but since u sleep on your bed already it messes up your coordination with your brain which makes u fall asleep and then also messes up your sleep at night. Som maybe u should invest in a desk or work on the floor if possible.
I disagree on what you said about summerizing when you’re doing the readings for the first time, prior to the lecture... yes, it is time consuming, but I feel like I’m paying so much more attention to the reading when I do it as opposed to when I don’t and just rush through it
recht en economie? Zit er sterk over na te denken die studie of iets soortgelijks ook te gaan studeren. Hoe bevalt de studie jou en op welke universiteit zit je en hoe bevalt die , als ik dat vragen mag :)
Mac is great but I only need it for note taking and doing research (and editing videos). The biggest pros are that the batteries last for a long time, it's fast and the macbook air that I have is really light. However it is super expensive and I think there are a lot of other laptops that are fast and light with long lasting batteries that aren't this expensive. Especially if you don't use a laptop that much (like my lil sister), it is not worth the investment
Mac is great I've been using it for 3 years now and it's still the best. However I would recommend the air instead of pro if you go to school cause its much lighter and cheaper, the pro is usually for people who need to use editing softwares etc. I would also recommend the iPad pro, you can write notes with the apple pen and theres also a complimentary keyboard which basically serves as a computerXD
I have the small Mac Air and I think for uni it's perfect. It is really light and quite easy to handle. I don't have much experience with the newer Microsoft systems, because I've been having my Mac Air for 3 years now, so I can't really compare it to them, but before that I had Laptops with Windows xp and 7, and I really liked them, but that was ages ago, really. I use my Mac Air every day, 365 days a year, sometimes for really long hours. And it still looks new, the battery power hasn't really decreased, it doesn't make any sounds, it doesn't get warm, there are no long updates whenever you start it, like I experienced it with Windows, it doesn't freeze often, the sound and light still work perfectly, the light of the display adjusts to your surroundings, etc. I think, for a student/for work it's really good, but if you want to install games (I tried Sims3 once), you should probably get a Mac Book Pro or another notebook with more power, because that didn't really work out. But for long-term using for university for example it's really worth the price. Hope that helped :)

Behesht Khoja hello fellow army
I completely understand what you were saying about not havibg that overview of the lecture once you re write your notes, but personally for me If I don't, i will never go back and look at my typed notes. The only time I actually studied and remembered was when i re wrote my notes neatly in a notebook or on flash cards. When I type notes im just mindlessly copying, but when i re write them at home i take the time to soak in the info. It honestly depends on what class for me
yay another video!!! I live for them. ❤️❤️❤️
♥️
I watch this video at the beginning of every semester, recommended to many friends. Very useful.
This video was very informative, but I don’t think it is a bad idea to rewrite your notes later on and it will not “destroy” the thought process you had when first taking the notes in class. Actually it can help you remember what you discussed in class and rewriting has been proven to help improve your memory on what you’re trying to learn. Just thought I would put that out there.... thank you for sharing your tips✌🏼
that quote was based on a research actually but if it is helpful to you, you should do it :)
I do that too
completely agree with you! rewriting notes and generally writing them instead of typing into the PC is soooo demanding, time consuming and contra-productive, it sucks all the energy and none is left for the actual memorizing of the information haha :-)
YOU ARE right ! same happens with me!
you have to travel two hours? woah, talk about dedication. I'm finishing high school next year and I'll be doing European studies in Den Haag. I have to travel an hour and a half for that, rip me.
how do u make up for so much time lost in travelling???
Hi! I have a question. How long do you usually 'have fun' in a day? (including taking a break from studies and watching netflix) Thanks for replying in advance! I LOVE your videos :)
Chelle hi, tbh I don't know, i don't keep track on that, especially because i multitask a lot ( for example facetiming with my boyfriend while sending emails or annotating notes)
rewriting my notes helps me remember and learn the topic better but i love the other tips in the video :)
Thus video was literally help full for me and thankyou for making such kinds of inspirational and helpful videos for students like us !!
I love both you and Marianas vids you guys have saved my grades thank you💖💖💖💖👑
you and mariana's study corner have the best study tips and I love both of you💜
when I was in high school, I always have to rewrote my note because I wrote so fast in the class ...my handwriting look so bad, but u re right. I can't really remember what I wrote like when I did it in class because I only copy paste it in my book
take a drink everytime she says lecture
Boom, alcohol poisoning
The hospitals will be full to capacity.
If the professor talks really fast, I just write down as much as I can and then I make my notes look clear and well aligned after the lecture before I print them
BULLETPOINTS
Another tip to not fall asleep during lectures - very minty mints or chewing gum to help clear your head.
omagod thanks for the collaboration I was waiting for itv
In order to not fall asleep you should sit at the front closer to your teacher. It works for me when I am sleepy at the end of the week ;)
for anyone who's trying to understand the different note taking methods out there, I recommend reading "A Mind for Numbers" by Barbara Oakley. I loved that book!
Je doet het zo fantastisch! Je kanaal zal nog zeer groot worden, België is trots op je! 😍
Hi! So I've been watching your channel for a while now and I admire the way you study I wish I could be like you! And I love your handwriting! Could you make a handwriting video, like how to make your kind of handwrite? thx ❤
Really enjoyed this video! I think you really hit hard what students need to do to really make the most out of their lecture!
Thank you :)
if u find notes also expensive buy a cheap file and set of a4 size paper set and use it to take notes
Funny. I always summarize before the lecture so I know what I want to ask questions about before hand and I can focus on the the stuff I don’t get. But it might also be because my course specifically stated that everything in the book is important and they don’t talk about everything in the lectures. I guess it really depends on the type of course
Yes it does. I was just sharing my experiences and if you use another technique: that's cool too. Do what works best for you
WaysToStudy yeah! It’s so awesome to see all the different ways of studying. I also feel it heavily depends on the course you follow. I love your channel!
Yes it definitely does! It also depends on the type of exam you are getting and other factors but this method is just something that worked for me for the past 2,5 years in law school! xx
Shout out from NZ, BCom/LLB student as well! :)
आप बहुत अच्छी video बनाती है।
Awesome advice, thanks as always :D Please keep up the wonderful work!
@3:20 You forgot caffeine :) I find drinking a tea or coffee before or during can help you stake awake in lecture.
I missed your videos
Lol I almost wanted to haha. I spent 4 hours on editing twice and my laptop just didn't save them. Glad it worked the third time ☺️
Woah, 4 hours! That's a lot! Thanks for your hard work :D Good luck on making new videos ;3
Rose love your video :) so much i think i live for them if you guys are big fan of ways to study like
i am really exicited for your new video
Can I have a question that why do you print in only one side of the paper but not both? I saw many people doing that but just can't understand because in my country, they usually print in both side in order to save up paper as much as they can.
maybe because ink may bleed and that can become messy and make the notes look rough
No, printing-paper doesn't bleed through on the other side. I also always print both sides to save paper and it looks fine.
SamusLovesMilk I think they meant when you go through and highlight and annotate notes in pen in can bleed to the other side, so if you have things printed there it can get messy and confusing
I understand, perhaps but I can imagine it would also depend a lot on which marker you have, some are stronger some are weaker ^^
For me, personally, I sometimes get to my classes late and I don’t have time to grab my books, so I just write at the back. And it’s better than having to rewrite a word or something because you can easily cross reference it.
Can you please make a video about how to stay motivated and how to concentrate when studying
Great video! I look forward to your weekly posts😊
I'm always amazed how fast people can make graphs so quickly on their laptops, like how?
My two favorite studyspos 😍😍
This seems really helpful... I am going to try this method out
Omg needed this thank you so much for uploading ❤❤❤
can you make a video on how to stay motivated? btw i love all of your video! 💕💕💕
very good video👍💞. thank you , you help me a lot!😘
This is the only person which has another writing lol otherwise lot of RUclipsr has the same writing
Dats such an awesome video!! Thanks, it helps a lot
Thank you... It was really worth it for watching....
The problem with me is,
I'm a fairly young viewer (13) and all my target grades are 7A's and above (target grades that Year 11's are barely even getting) and it's really difficult for me to absorb everything in because my teachers take everything at rocket speed.
Or you might want to buy Dragon Naturally Speaking by Nuance with the student discount and dictate everything
you really shouldnt be this stressed out about your grades when youre only 13 😂😂 try to take it bit easy while you still have the luxury to do so otherwise you will burn yourself out and when the time comes you will find yourself procrastinating with no energy to revise. Good luck👍🏽
Hey!
Your accent makes you sound like Sandy from Daria. Its so cool!
Omg you're the second one to tell me that haha. I love Daria, it's such an iconic show!!
Omg thank you you helped me so much
I found these tips very helpful, thank you!
I don't even know what I'm going to study next year (failed 1st year of filmschool and to much credits on the topic I failed to do it again...) but I'm watching this anyway haha
I'll be in the front of the class. Students still talk during lecture. I only fall asleep during the lecture, for the first week. Basic information; talk about something advanced that will keep me awake professor
thanks for the video really helps!
Johnny B Before you proceed to test yourself you have to study. I do that myself, though I believe it’s not the most effective way,
that was really great.
good luck!!
mariana is loveeee n you tooo!!!!
So off topic but... I LOVE your watch. :D Also, this video was extremely helpful!
i study on my bed not a desk (cause i don't have a drsk lol) is that ok...
cuz i fall asleep
Steven De' mayo try sitting on the ground
Story Time I know this is late but since u sleep on your bed already it messes up your coordination with your brain which makes u fall asleep and then also messes up your sleep at night. Som maybe u should invest in a desk or work on the floor if possible.
Try studying at your dining table
You're bed should be reserved for sleeping, or it could lead to sleeping and studying problems. I've made that mistake before.
Consider getting a stand-up desk that you could adjust. That way you could use it and avoid any sitting material that suggests sleep.
Can you do a video on how to prepare for a test? Please help me! FINALS is on my way! Your video was nice! And don't miss the STUDY VLOG love youu!
Already made one! Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/2B0Ceyn7MXA/видео.html
thanks!
This was so helpful, thank you!
I disagree on what you said about summerizing when you’re doing the readings for the first time, prior to the lecture... yes, it is time consuming, but I feel like I’m paying so much more attention to the reading when I do it as opposed to when I don’t and just rush through it
What font number, style, and margin number do you use? and computer program?
4:22 4th you can search easily
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!!!
recht en economie? Zit er sterk over na te denken die studie of iets soortgelijks ook te gaan studeren. Hoe bevalt de studie jou en op welke universiteit zit je en hoe bevalt die , als ik dat vragen mag :)
Leuke video weer! Waar heb jij je zebra mildliners gekocht?
i love your video's so much! i'm also Dutch by the way
Hi I was wondering if a Mac is actually a good laptop for students since I'm unsure whether to purchase one?
Mac is great but I only need it for note taking and doing research (and editing videos). The biggest pros are that the batteries last for a long time, it's fast and the macbook air that I have is really light. However it is super expensive and I think there are a lot of other laptops that are fast and light with long lasting batteries that aren't this expensive. Especially if you don't use a laptop that much (like my lil sister), it is not worth the investment
WaysToStudy Thank you :)
Emma Prince Thank you soo much!
:)
