You can add the 140mm fan on the Back Stack and add a 120mm fan on the front to lower the clearance for RAM, Noctura will send you the extra clips on proof purchase ..
Yea but it takes awhile to get the clips unless you rush the order and pay 13$ which is what i did instead but they sent me 2 pairs instead 1 pair which is even better.
@@Synthwave89that’s way too much imo. One of the reasons I am going with D15S vs say the U12A is the lack of rear fan. When using a U12A the rear fan is so close to the rear exhaust case fan that I think they might interfere with each other. You don’t want to put fans that close to each other axially. Since it is nearly impossible to sync their RPM’s, you will get buffeting/interference and it could be detrimental to cooling. If you need more cooling on the D12S while still keeping your RAM clearance, simply mount a front 120 mm; and forget about anything in the rear
i got a d15 on am4 board ye its close but no issue at all to insatll a gpu on first slot. only problem is to release it from the pci-e slot, you need to take the screwdriver that comes with it or some chopsticks or so tp fully press it down!
This video helped me pick the D15s for my Matx built last year, 12700k, Asus B660-G in the 011 Air Mini plus a Strix 3060 Ti, and good thing for that offset, the d15s almost sits on that gpu, I did add another fan, even before testing the temps, that 2nd fan barely clears the glass panel (sits on my fury beast ram), idle temps are 37c, just chrome with 30+ tabs, and I did use my cpu for Vray rendering, max temp I got was 76c.
Nice bro! Yeah I’ve seen there very little difference between one and two fans on this heatsink. Maybe a couple degrees in some testing I’ve seen. I’m also going for D12S, all the same features as D12 but that offset is huge for compatibility.
Thanks for showing these two units! Main difference between them I believe is the offset. D15S has more ram clearance simply because it doesn’t have a front fan mounted. The extra GPU clearance is nice too! I think it might help with thermals as well. Keeping the CPU out of the GPU’s exhaust a bit more, and also not heating up any M.2 drives you may have
If I’m using Corsair Vengeance RGB ram, have to go for 15S? Thinking to change from my Lian Li Galahad 360, coz recently keep on running 88-90.xx for my 5900x during gaming, I’m using 3090 ti, any advise?
Very nice visual comparison.. thank you for that. I would like to point that what was sad "This is to allow the GPU to be installed in first slot" . This comment is incorrect. This is true for small factor mother board aka mini ATX , I don't see this happening with full ATX. IMHO Using cooler on mini ATX board defeats the purpose of small factor build and I think most of the time GPUs being vertically installed for thouse. For regular build generally it's gives you different clearance option. I will be higher so in some situations it will allow installation of the heatsink / m2 SSD which N15 will flat out block. In my case I opted for D 15S .. the issue I got while having better access to M2 SSD slot, is that my clearance for top fans was barely enough to fit and also MB connections are very tight ... case I use is corsair 220t airflow with Aorus elite x570. Also it positioned the cooler slightly higher straight towards exhaust
Height is same eventho Noctua says there is 8mm difference between them. Weird
10 месяцев назад
That's because the fan close to the ram of the non "S" version is installed 8mm higher. So even if the cooler has the same height, the total required height is higher.
I have both of them just different from you. D15 as Chromax and D15s as the normal one. I did swapped brown to black fan and 1 more fan D15s. The temp is not really different at all as I remember ed.
In general thermal resistance increase with about 15% for a silver heatsink, compared to a black anodized one. I don't understand why Noctua released a heatsink that will be hotter. I think the silver heatsink with different coloured fans makes more sense if you want black. Yet, the same people will fill their cases with stupid lights flashing anyway
for those who don't know the NH D15S only comes with only 1 fan, the NH D15 comes with 2 fans. The cut outs have always been a thing, I installed my noctua NH D15 in 2015 and it does have the cutouts, it always did. The NH D14 didn't. So basically, The only difference is that one comes with 2 fans while the other one doesn't, apart from shaft moved a bit
this cooler can last you at least 10 years or more,i have been using it for 6 years already.Currently i am just waiting for the next gen nh d15 which will be release in 2023 but as you know noctua it might be delayed again =)
I've got an early version of the NH-D15 and the sides aren't blocked off like the lastest ones 7:15, which means air from the fans can escape from the sides, I don't know how much difference it makes for cooling. These aren't that good any more with ryzen 7000 and intel 12-13th gen due to turbo boost clocks and the higher TDP's you have to crank the fan speed up which increases the fan noise and then it still struggles. Ryzen 7600x @ 105watts over 93c with this cooler and both fans set to 1348rpm max rpm is 1500. If I use pbo and limit the power to 65watts it sits around 70c with slightly lower fan speed around 1050rpm. Hope this helps some people with cooler choices............🙂 ruclips.net/video/YF5Pl2sFixs/видео.html
I wouldn't use either of them, your better off with a corsair h150i/H170i or another brand of 360/420mm radiator in the top or front of your case. The NH-D15D and S will not cool a 7800x3d well enough!!!! and it will be noisy from the fans spinning up faster when the cpu increases clock speed during boost, my 7600x is in a custom loop with two 360mm rads but I also have my graphics card in the same loop, take care@@ZzzZzz-gk4bo
This cooler is overrated - Also the quality control is horrible - In the past every cooler I isntalled that came with my CPUs were clean at the bottom, and covered. The Noctua coolers are full of dust - if you look at the plate you will see dust particles, I have asked a few stores selling them and ALL noticed the same ALL come like that - now imagine if you were to use it directly, you would not get optimal contact - you would have to literally wipe clean the contact plate before use, it's pathetic - you pay hundreds of $ for a so called premium cooler but they cannot ship the bloody thing without dust particles on the most important part of the product that will actually make contact with the bloody CPU.

Noctua should discontinue the D15 & just sell the D15s with an optional 2nd fan instead
You can add the 140mm fan on the Back Stack and add a 120mm fan on the front to lower the clearance for RAM, Noctura will send you the extra clips on proof purchase ..
So a three fan setup? Thanks for the tip on the clips also. I might just run 2 fans, the last one doesn't add much I believe.
Yea but it takes awhile to get the clips unless you rush the order and pay 13$ which is what i did instead but they sent me 2 pairs instead 1 pair which is even better.

Where is the 2nd fan of the NH-D15 ??

How high is the clearance? The I/O block on my Gigabyte z790 is about 2 inches high and takes up 1/3 of the board.

My old NH-D15 is stuck against my RTX4090 but it still works well.
WOW very helpful

so can i use high profile ram with the NH-d15 ?

The heatsink can last a 100 years lol. Just replace the fans.
