Kinda funny how I'm both glad and slightly horrified that she's taking on One Piece.
Assuming she watches 2 episodes per week, she'd be done with the series around 2036. Maybe 2031 without the fillers.
But what a journey it'd be, eh?
Edit: Saw that she rolled out ep 3-4 recently. At this rate she'd probably finish the series before 2029. 😅

It doesn’t matter how many times Luffy says he’ll be king of the pirates, it hits just as hard everytime

That's the whole point. Coby is there to show how Luffy affects others through his actions. And how they then affect others too. Coby is written to be like that on purpose so you could see his personal growth better.

I must be one of the few people in the world that not only doesn't despite the filler episodes of a show, but defend them through hell and beyond... Yeah, the main plot doesn't advance, but the world the characters live on is more "alive", more interesting, something you cannot see in story plot episodes (for most animes, afterall One Piece is about the journey and the world so... that's an exception)

Love that you’re watching this! It’s my favorite anime, and the beauty of the worldbuilding is a huge part of that. Yes it’s quite slow but that also means you get to see more of the world, more of the smaller everyday details and more time to explore the emotions that the anime will definitely bring!

Just little things just so you know.
Really hope you enjoy this series, I wish you don't get spoiled of anything more than the video of the breathtaking world of One Piece (which for sure contains a lot of spoilers but hopefully you will forget them). Just to clarify, most of people confuse themselves with what Luffy says and don't read what he says properly. He is "going to be the king of the pirates", it is not his dream nor a goal, just a requirement for him to achieve his dream, when he gets the One Piece, he will be the freest man in the world, and with those 2 requirements, he will finally be able to achieve his dream, which hasn't textually be said, but most likely is saving the world and with it, everything on it. The people, the souls, the world, just everything and everyone all at once. Lot of people theorize his dream is some ridiculous thing, which is not, and even less whem there isn't even a hint of what they say is his dream. So just try to go in your own pace ajd enjoy everything you can, the first time sure is magical. I have watched it all until Wano 7 times.

The only anime I have done that for.
I also spent over $100 on One Piece hoodies.
For a long anime, it doesn't have many fillers. But the ones that we get are entertaining and informative unlike other anime
Always nice seeing someone go into this truly blind.
Just take things at your own pace. Trust me. Soon enough you'll be several hundred episodes in feeling like you just started.

I've seen a hundred anime attack on titan Naruto Bleach deathnote demon slayer...... But one piece is still my favorite I can't spoil it for you it took me a while before I understood just wait and enjoy you will be happy sad proud chock destroy.... One pièce It is a story with a narration and a relentless logic which is very similar to our world we see later Oda trying to send us a message also about our real world and the Cultures, religions and. The peoples by a few minorities thirsty for power or by a dogma I am not spoiling anything but you will love one piece

best advice i can give for new one piece fans, just enjoy the journey and the crazy antics of the main characters
It starts slow but it'll pick up the pace and it will make you want more and the next thing you know you're glued to your seat binge watching 5 to 15 episodes 😂
Luffy ate a devil fruit and it's called Gomu Gomu No Mi (roughly translates to Rubber Rubber Fruit / or if we're going with Viz & Funimation translation it's called Gum Gum Fruit)

Strap yourself in, you are in for a ride with this series. Do be aware that it is acceptable to refer to the Marines as Navy. It’s just some fans got used to calling them marines cause they got MARINE on their clothes n stuff, but the word they use in Japanese literally translates to “sea army” so either works.

As someone who watched one piece from start to the war 9 times, except for the fillers, which i only watched twice and then started to jump them too, i recommend that you watch and record at least the filler arc of the G-8, right after Skypiea, it is the BEST FILLER ARC OF ALL, it's funny as hell, it's the only one i simply cannot jump through, it's so good, it should be cannon!
