As similar as they may look, the piano and harp are very different instruments, for anyone wondering 😅

I love that you give explanations on how a harp is played and what can and can't be done instead of simply saying "that piece can't be played on the harp" and be done with it. You explain why it can't, and then adjust it in a way that it can be played. Thanks!!

    Depending on the context:
Petrushka can be translated as “Parsley”, or (more likely in that case) as someone, fulfilling a similar role to a jester

This is really helpful! I just took an orchestration class and while we briefly mentioned harp and how to notate music for harp, we didn't go too in depth with how to write idiomatically for it

  • @stephenino

It’s been a long time since I’ve hear that music played from that ballet. You were amazing at playing it. It was beautiful to hear it played on the harp. What would it sound like as a double lead with piano and harp playing simultaneously, and then add a clarinet for a third lead instrument? Make into a rock concert for classical music! …….. Okay I’ll I’ll leave the room now, sorry.

Thanks for this, the first RUclips short I ever learned something from! it's one of my favourite ever pieces of music so this was a fascinating insight, both into your instrument and into the music itself. Your "minor adjustments" sounded fantastic and I wish you hadn't said "that's as far as I'm gonna go" because I'd love to see your arrangement of the full piece in my Spotify Wrapped next year! Thanks for sharing
