I love that you give explanations on how a harp is played and what can and can't be done instead of simply saying "that piece can't be played on the harp" and be done with it. You explain why it can't, and then adjust it in a way that it can be played. Thanks!!
Hello, as Venezuelan, our traditional music includes a distinctive harp sound, every time I watch your videos something in my subconscious listens to our music, you are very beautiful and talented, thank you
Yo soy Mexicano y me recuerda a la música Jarocha (región de Veracruz) ya había escuchado que suena algo similar a la de Venezuela... Si no la conoces deberías escuchar algo de sones jarochos con arpa
I appreciate your videos. Because I play guitar thus your explanations of the strings help me rehearse better. Also, you are a musician, and you know what you are doing. Thanks.
This is really helpful! I just took an orchestration class and while we briefly mentioned harp and how to notate music for harp, we didn't go too in depth with how to write idiomatically for it
It’s been a long time since I’ve hear that music played from that ballet. You were amazing at playing it. It was beautiful to hear it played on the harp. What would it sound like as a double lead with piano and harp playing simultaneously, and then add a clarinet for a third lead instrument? Make into a rock concert for classical music! …….. Okay I’ll I’ll leave the room now, sorry.
Thanks for this, the first RUclips short I ever learned something from! it's one of my favourite ever pieces of music so this was a fascinating insight, both into your instrument and into the music itself. Your "minor adjustments" sounded fantastic and I wish you hadn't said "that's as far as I'm gonna go" because I'd love to see your arrangement of the full piece in my Spotify Wrapped next year! Thanks for sharing
I dont play the harp but its very interesting pearning how harpist play (i didnt know you didnt use pinkies). I play piano and since this sing is slow imo, could you possibly do cancer by my chemical romance? i love your covers and original work and i think it would be soud very rad
it also doesnt help that polytonality could possibly be involved, which means not only many notes, but also many notes in many keys... now im no harpist but *i think there might be a problem here-*
As similar as they may look, the piano and harp are very different instruments, for anyone wondering 😅
Also, auto captions spelled Petrushka wrong 🤦♀️
👍 I play harp, and I used to play piano, so I can say with firsthand experience that they are very different!
Pls do loser by duck
your channel has given me a whole new appreciation for the harp. Nice playing!
Can you do Graveyard Dancing by Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows?

As a composer this is useful to know
As a harpist, that music sheet is *horrifying*
I second this opinion
Agreed, I have no idea how I would even start to approach three staves lol or even danse russe for that matter
As a pianist, I second this
That transcription was lovely, as short as it was!
so lovely, sounds like a music box of Petrushka
Well, it still sounded amazing ❤

Depending on the context:
Petrushka can be translated as “Parsley”, or (more likely in that case) as someone, fulfilling a similar role to a jester
Hahaha... I saw that and was like.... Petrushka?! 😂 Nice love song about parsley
Yes, the ballet is about a clown puppet who comes to life.
The classic working class delinquent, petty criminal clown of Punch and Judy fame

Thank you fren.
Great job - both with explaining and playing!
As a mediocre guitar player with nerve damage, I love listening to harp music. This makes my day.
really enjoyed the harp version of the petrushka
Love this so much!

オーケストラの音がきこえたよ!
Thanks, very interesting explanation !
Nice one!
This is one of the many reasons piano is so much easier than the harp, and that is coming from a pianist
Both sounded amazing 😍
Great video
You're invited to be the principal harpist in heaven. Pack your bags!
Beautiful 😍👌🏼😍
And thanks for the explanation!! I used to think the two instruments were almost the exact same 😅
They actually had 6 fingers and 4 arms 🦔

Sounds common.
“Harpists don’t play with their pinkies”
NOT WITH THAT ATTITUDE THEY DONT
But a harp is REALLY a piano...
... in the nude!

No pinky action..good to know.
So play with your pinky.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Not everything transfers. I still can't play Eruption on my drums.
Why don’t harpists use their pinky’s?
Why can’t you play with your pinky?
This is because the pinky finger doesn't have enough strength to grab the string and is a short finger.
Why don’t harpists use their pinkies?
Because the little finger is short And there's not enough rebound power. Therefore, harpist players do not to play.
You did not just say the only movement used at the piano is up and down.
The black guy went inside because he was going inside anyway. The punk-*ss fight about to happen would be boring to him
I thought Petrushka was Russian for girl wearing tight blue jean shorts,,, Russian version of daisy dukes...
Нет пожалуйста
playing russian music when russia is destroying my country, is too inhumane...
The Russian people are okay, it’s the regime which is the problem.
Please do not play anything from Putinland.
The Russian people are okay, it’s the regime which is the problem.
Why not play with your pinkies? Sounds like a dumb tradition
Because the pinkies finger is short and does not have the strength to snap.
Therefore, harp players do not use the little finger to play.
@@SuperNaiyan skill issue
Could you record the different notes separately and layer the tracks....just for fun? 🎼🎶🎵🎶🎚🎛
Why cant harpists use there pinkies
Because the little finger is short And there's not enough rebound power. Therefore, harpist players do not to play.
So it's possible she lied.
