I’m soooo jealous that there are people who still get to watch this for the first time.
1st time or hundredth time has the same effect on me, I'm blown away everytime and it still gives me goosebumps and the occasional tear. That said the first time messed me up
But it gets better every single time! 😊
❤
Paul simon doesn't look so good....😂
This song still gives me chills like the first time I saw it.
I saw Conan interviewed about this performance. He stated that as the song progressed, by the second stanza everyone that was working backstage had come out to watch this performance. They could not believe what they were hearing. He stated he had never seen that happen before during his tenure as a late night host.
Just incredible.
That’s so awesome . Omg. Gives me chills all over again!🙏🏻❤️
Originals are always good to hear. But man sometimes covers are just done beautifully.
This song of course, but a folk/blues/soul artist I love is Shawn James. All his songs hit with me. But 2 of his covers you should check out are that's life and like a stone. His vocals, guitar skills and twist on the sound, rythym, beat, etc like what this song does is incredible.
wheres the interview?
@@mikehunt463Source : Trust me bro
I want to see videos of what was going on the day that this happened
I'm a 40 year old disabled combat veteran and I'm not ashamed to say the first time I heard/watched that video I cried my fucking eyes out.
Thank you for your service and dedication to this country and I pray that this country has and is treating you with the best care this country can offer. And trust me you ain’t the only one I balled my damn eyes out mid song it’s so powerful
I'll cry with you, my hero.
#metoo and I still do.
I think anyone who's ever been through hardship really feels this , deep down somewhere.
I just watched this vid and so probably about my 50th time hearing and seeing reactions to it.
Cried again.
So powerful
me too!!!
Me too, my man.
At the beginning he sings like an angel but in the end he's like an angel filled with righteous wrath. Best cover, ever!
A fallen angel is more like it.
The dark son 😏
That's a very accurate way to sum up David Draiman's voice!!
Easily the best cover of a song ever.... even surpasses SRV Little Wing cover.
Would've loved to hear him sing with Chester Bennington
I don't care how many times I listen to that version, THAT voice, I get chills and am amazed all over again. THAT is a gift to humanity right there !!!
Amen sis!!❤
ditto brings tears to my eyes still... wow just wow
Perfectly said 🤘
So much so that Paul Simon told David that it was "your song now". That cannot be any higher of praise than the orginal author of that classic
David did an amazing version.
Derek, beautifully done. No breaks, no interruptions, just let the song flow and let their facial expressions show their emotions without talking. Genius.
All the feels
Yes!!
"Derek, beautifully done. No breaks, no interruptions, just let the song flow and let their facial expressions show their emotions without talking. Genius." MY AS!
Totally agree, this is the best one Ive seen because we hear the song in its entirety and see the reaction of the others
touché! It’s such a powerful song! My mum introduced me to this song in my younger years… she heard Disturbed’s version two years ago while we were at the eagles.. I’m so glad I was blessed to share that experience with my parents that night while they visited us in Maine. ❤. They both passed this year my dad in Jun and mi Mum this this past November 💔. “Why do you like people screaming at you” is all I heard enjoying my genre of music way back when…she heard this version…. “ I like this song, they sound really good!😃”. I will forever hold onto that memory! Watching others reactions that truly hear/feel this song. It’s Soo powerful back then and even more nowadays.
You know a performance is magnificent when you watch it for the hundredth time and you still get goosebumps.
Wait yours went away
and Tears
I remember my grandma loved simon and Garfunkel and i told her how Disturbed covered it and she was surprised and curious so i showed her....ive seen that woman cried so hard and was so moved by performance and showmanship of her favorite song. It was a touching and heartfelt moment for both of us
I hear ya, my gma didnt believe that was a sim&gar song (it dint sound the same LOL), but after i convinced he she was like that is the most heart punching song ever, teaching my gma to headbang was awesome, she also rocked out to disturbeds land of confusion cover.
Imagine getting random tickets to see a late night show and end up hearing this mind shattering live performance. I personally have watched this particular performance easily over a hundred times on RUclips and will continue to watch it more, I love this version ❤️
imagine the energy and emotion in that studio...my god
By far the best version of this song I've ever heard. To hear it on a random night at a show anyone can go to if they like would be a true gift.
Now factor In the singer so sick with the flu he had to sit on a stoll to not fall over.
*stool.
Same.
When a song moves you to tears, that’s when you know its incredible.
As a long time Disturbed fan, this is so satisfying. Finally the world had caught up to the incredible talent David is and what this band can do !
I hear that! I’ve been a disturbed fan since their first album. They are the ones who got me into rock.
I’ve never seen this version and wow it’s amazing.
Agreed, I am from northwest Indiana and Chicago is like half an hour away, and I went with 2 friends to a bar called J.J.
Kelly's back in the day when they were coming up, and my one friend was already tight with David and the band and we got to drink and party with them afterwards and we just knew they were going to hit it big and they eventually did!!!!!
for real though
Truly underrated band
I'm 60 and I saw this on Conan..I literally cried like a baby...thus is the way I think it should be sang ...
The build up of his vocals are perfect. It starts in a calm very low register, then slowly builds to higher notes, then moves to a crescendo of a full out vocal assault, and then finally conclude in a soft timid voice. Love it.
One of the most amazing live preformances I have ever seen, ever. Hats off.
I know it isn't the same type of music but check out the Band of Gypsies doing Machine Gun
I agree. We've seen them a couple times and they/he never disappoints. 🔥
I never get tired of hearing this performance. The song is already amazing, and David Draiman (Disturbed) has the absolute perfect tone and range to sing it. When a performance gives you goose bumps, you know you’ve just heard perfection.
Simon and Garfunkel brought a beautiful and timeless track into the world....for years and years it has stood the test of time, many have performed cover versions....
Never has a version of this song been so well appreciated and applauded, the vocal talent, the power of the drum, the theatre, it has become the stand out version in my opinion....very rare does the original take second place but on this occasion, forgive me Paul and Art...♡♡
There’s a power behind this performance that’s one of the best I’ve ever heard.
It still doesn't, this doesn't sound better than the original. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@jc1251968 purely a matter of opinion Claude.
You can tell these people are having their lives changed. I'll never be able to hear this song for the first time again, but this is damned close to that feeling. Goosebumps everywhere.
I knew I wasn't the only one blown away by this!!! It's brings tears to my eyes everytime! 💯❤️😭
I'm 50 see and I grew up on this. This is the best cover yet. You have to consider this song. It was done on a time you don't know with true meaning. Here we are listening to it being performed better.
The way I see it, the original is sung like a warning, and the disturbed version is a condemnation that no one listened to the warning.
Thanks for featuring me, this song personally still gives me goosebumps, love everyone’s reactions and you’ve done a great job with this mashup. Keep it up all the best. 👍🏽
I am obsessed by this singer, his voice is amazing!
Haven't listened to this song/watched the video in years, and I just started crying within the first 30 seconds. People don't give enough respect to most vocalists, but especially vocalists like David Draiman. The man is known for Disturbed, but then goes and covers one of the most well known songs, and has the creators heap him with praise.
This is the best version of this song ever. No matter how many times I hear it makes me cry, and it gives me goose bumps. This man's voice is superb. Give us more and more.❤
A very good compilation of reactions to one of the most important performances in the past few decades, David really doesn't get enough credit for the haunting power of this performance.
I love this version of the Sound of Silence. The tone set really fits the lyrics and the vocals are amazing. In this version the lyrics really stand out imo. The lyrics "Silence like a cancer grows" and "but my words like silent raindrops fell" really hit me. The vocals at the line "and the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made" give me major goosebumps. I think the fact that the song just keeps building really draws me in to where I become invested. I just keep replaying it.
I resisted listening to Disturbed's version for the longest because, to me, S&G's was perfection. Now there are two perfect versions. 🥰
Simon was giving a warning, Disturbed was giving a war cry!
Derek, another stellar edit! I figure it takes hours to get the edit just right and I for one really appreciate your hard work! Keep it up!
This is a great cover. It really can bring you to your knees in tears. It’s message and warning are clear. Paul Simon is one of the best song writers on the planet, and David’s powerful voice drives the despair of the song right into your bones. And Disturbed’s musical arrangement is out of this world!
It’s beautiful!
It's incredible just how powerful the emotional reaction to good music can be.
...and it's universal
I think it’s probably the best cover of any song ever.
Masterclass!
Great job letting the reactions tell the story! This is a special cover. Disturbed (David Draiman) took a song that is so well known and made you feel like you heard it for the first time. So well done. A beautiful arrangement with insanely powerful vocals. "Speechless" is an understatement.
Whether or not you like Disturbed, you can't deny that David Draiman has a powerful voice. It's fascinating how he steadily goes from his synagogue cantor voice to his rock voice over time as the song goes on. Don't forget about Paul Simon's lyrics either!
Ironic the lyrics are way more impactful with the cover
I cried the first time I saw this rendition. I've seen it maybe 50 times since and still tear up.
Never judge a band by their genre because you might miss out on something so amazing and beautiful. This song touched my soul it is still echoing deep after hearing it for the first time. I wish that I could go back in time so it would be the first time again.
And the impressive part if this performance, he had a cold when this show aired, and his voice does Crack once. But, to be sick and still sung like this? Beyond impressive.
I guess you could say that he got down with the sickness
@@DominusCaedis
Lol 😆 nice comment 👌 👍
I think he actually had the flu?
@@DominusCaedis haha nice!
You know a song is on a whole different level when reactors just sit there in awe and forget to comment during the whole song :)! Excellent editing work!
He had the flu that night performing...still unbelievably soul touching!❤
He was down with the sickness
@@jeffgoble4761 Nice comment 💯 lmao 🤣
No not the flu he had a lesion that he needed to get an operation but put it off to go do the show.
I love this version much more than the original. He just puts so much emotion in it that it totally changes the song. Phenomenal.
S&G were begging people to listen to the message, Disturbed embodies the anger at people not heeding the warning of the message.
One of the very best live versions ever!
Of anything ever , ever
NOBODY WILL EVER TOP THIS VERSION . DONT EVEN TRY
💯%
Agreed 👍
I'd would give your comment an infinite number of thumbs 👍 up, as I totally get where you are coming from.
That was a perfect mash up video, no breaks, no fades, just perfect flow.
Well done 🤘🤘🤘🤘
It doesn't matter how many times I see this performance it still does to me what it does to the people in the video. I don't know if it is the incredible emotional vocal performance or the spine tingling strings and timpani arrangement, but this just has so much more than the beautiful original S&G arrangement.
This brings together metal, sinfonia, opera and folk in the same space at the same time. It just shouldn't work, yet it remains among the most moving music I've ever heard. Simply breathtaking.
I haven't listened to this for a while but for crying out loud it has the same effect as if it was the first time hearing it, incredible
Ok folks...THIS is one for the ages...Not very often do I sit in awe of something I'm hearing...This is definitely one of those times...Magical performance by a wonderful band
Just love how a new generation of people are appreciating the classics
He is such a talented down to earth man I am so happy he is being recognized love this man
So cool to see people from all walks of life. Brought together by their passion for this beautiful song. 🔥
The BEST live performance ever. This still gives me chills when I watch it. Love it
I've watched this performance dozens of times and always have tears rolling down my face. It hits me right in my soul. I love watching everyone experience this moment of perfection.
Everyone is speechless just as it ends. So beautifully done.
It doesn’t matter how many times I listen to this song, I get goosebumps and my allergies kick in every single time. He is just such an incredible artist.
How many thousands of tears 😢 have been shed listening 🎶 to this I'm one of them,David's voice the instruments the power the rage...perfection....
This was LIVE!!! WELL DONE, David!!!! Been a Disturbed fan for years, but this song BLOWS ME AWAY! Seen MANY reaction of vOcal coaches here on youtube and EVERYBODY I've heard LOVED this performance. EPIC!
I remember first listening to this. His voice touched my soul....and it wasn't silent. It touched every fiber of my being.
I wondered if there was anyone else hit as hard by this song as I was. Words can't describe. Makes tears flow every time.
Yes. we were. All of us with a soul.
He gives me chills!! I must have heard this a hundred times,I will hear him a hundred times more!!
No matter how many times I hear it..... full body goosebumps!! The power in his voice is amazing!!
I heard the original at 12 yrs, was totally hypnosis. This makes me weep with emotion at 63. Thank you for sharing your experience
I can't believe I have listened to this song hundreds of times and I still get chills. Every time.
This is the reason we are now really not only hear but are blessed with the visual of a song. They now own this song and have set the mark so high that it brings the viewer to an almost religious experience. Touching a person's soul! This what every artist should work towards. I dare say, I believe they now have the #1. best song ever!
David Draimans vocals are so pure, in the studio or live! The man can make you feel any emotion at any given time
When I heard this for the first time, I legitimately got goosebumps and fell in love with the song. I've been listening to Disturbed since The Sickness and loved them the whole way, but this one hit differently. I cried, got angry, and then hopeful. Truly a powerful song from an equally talented artist, David deserves to be Immortalized.
As much as I wish I could watch that performance for the first time again, it still hits every time
David Draiman and his band bring such emotion to the song! I don't recall getting chills when Simon and Garfunkel recorded the song.
Such a beautiful and haunting voice. This man is truly blessed with the most amazing and emotive, thought provoking voice. I get boose bumps every time I hear this song. 😅😢😂❤🎉 wowser the chills is an absolute understatement x
I've been a fan off this band forever and I still get goose bumps every time I hear this

Cover) Mr. Terrific Songs Sound Of Silence performed live by Disturbed at the Resch Center, Jan 23rd Coleton METALLICA “Enter Sandman” Live in Moscow - Reaction Mashup this week.
This is one of my all time favourite songs . It's so relaxing but when he goes up a notch I still get goosebumps up my arms .
I STILL get goosebumps every time I hear this!!!
When I first saw the video, exceptionally beautiful video, tears fell down my cheeks, and tears still flow whenever I see disturbed sing this. Reaches one's soul.
BRILLIANT COMPILATION that shows us all snippets of the few who've been so touched by David's rendition. Thank for this truly 🙏
The true magnificence of this video is not just in one of the most impactful presentations of this song, but it emphasizes that music transcends culture, color, gender, religions, ages etc. This video hit me due to watching the reactions of all the different people we have in away that truly tells their common impressions of the music. This song, the original and now even more so a heavy metal vocalist from Disturbed, touches the folks on the video. Faces can not lie. You see feelings. This was an awesome video. It gives me hope that through the turmoil the country and the world is in, we can be transcended and maybe, just maybe we can and will come together. Bravo for bringing this to us.
bawling!!! god the line "people talking without speaking" along with these reactions was just perfect. beautifully done.
His voice and this song touches the soul. Incredible!!!
It's the BEST cover ever! David Draiman's voice is unbelievable, and BIG hats off to Paul Simon for writing this masterpiece (and many, many, others) It's a song you feel. The passion David sings into it is so visceral. The desperation brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.
This version really does make you feeling. Disturbed did a GREAT re-make.
Love all the reactions vids shown right after another.
Goosebumps. Every. Single. Time.
If there was anything that was perfect, that was it. Simply beautiful and powerful
Dont no how many times i have seen/heard him sing this but still get goosebumps ❤
If what I read was correct, this man was so sick at the time that his ability to perform that night was questionable. His performance was simply amazing and if he was truly sick: truly unbelievable.
What you read is correct. He was quite ill. Anyone who's ever heard David sing live would be able to tell there was something off (in a "head cold" kind of way) with his voice in this performance. It's especially noticeable at the beginning of the song, when he's in his lower register. On top of that, the show insisted on putting some sort of aftereffect on the microphone, against his wishes. And yet, it's *still* this good.
I guess you could say that he is...
Down with the sickness...
You can actually see the light in each of the voice coaches' eyes when they realize they are going to hear greatness. The felt every single note. The love they have for the art is profound and I can only hope that each one of them has the chance to experience such a talent in their own work. Beautiful ❤
“The Sound of Silence” comes to a close with a warning, pointedly calling out the all-consuming consumerism
and using those already lost to it as an example of what’s to come if we continue to find solace in the silence.
A new generation has been introduced to the iconic song, but they also may have missed out on its meaning,
one that is just as important if not more so today then it was six decades ago.
"The sound of Silence" is and has been taking over everyday interactions in society. It's not often that we actually
speak to one another. We text, we email. we post on Social Media etc. etc. interactions become all the more
surface-level and indifference continues to grow.
~People talking without speaking
~People hearing without listening
~People writing songs that voices never share
~No one dared
~Disturb the sound of silence
I love his voice. He nailed it big time.
Paul Simon told him the song is his now.
Simon shared in an interview with Playboy
I used to go off in the bathroom, because the bathroom had tiles, so it was a slight echo chamber.
I’d turn on the faucet so that water would run - I like that sound, it’s very soothing to me -
and I’d play. In the dark.
Hello, darkness, my old friend / I’ve come to talk with you again
Simon pinned most of his songs in bathrooms.
This performance of this song gives me chills, no matter how many times I hear it. Well done! Huge fan!
He has such a beautiful voice. It’s such a powerful piece.
Thank you so much. I saw most of these in full but together they hit it on the head. This is one of the greatest live performances in history, right up the there with Queen at Live Aid.
I will always love when a singer is devoted to their song. He knows he’s doing a cover, but he cares about this song so he puts his passion into it.
First and foremost, this is the best reaction video ever because this is how they should be. You watch the whole video no loud bursts interrupting David From giving the best live cover in existence to an unprepared audience. Everyone being quiet till the end and then all reaction was so much better. Definitely subscribing.
I'm so glad to be alive so I can listen to this whenever and however many times I want!
Killed it again!! This is one of my wife's favorite songs. We just enjoyed that together!!! Keep up the good work Sir!!!
this is exactly what music is meant to do... touch your soul and make you think
Just saw it for the first time and was blown away 😂
The performance of course is nothing short of amazing. But more importantly we hear the profound words of a song written over fifty years ago giving us all a warning we probably didn't fully grasp at the time.
You think we “grasp it” now?
@@ivanalaff5346 Apparently not.
And to know this performance was given when he was sick and not live. These judges should watch the original version of this wonderful masterpiece from Simon and Garfunkel! It was absolutely incredible ❤
gonna say something controversial here, but I prefer this version. I love Simon and Garfunkel, but this version is way better. Hell even Paul Simon himself said it was better, so there is no argument
Just can't listen to this enough, it gives me goose bumps everytime. The original (S&G) version was brilliant but this is stunning.
It was perfection. The beauty of this rendition was beyond words. It reached people's soul.
I still get shivers up my spine when I hear this remake ...its perfection !
chills. literal chills hearing this. and this is not the first time I heard it.
Once again, perfect song choice for the perfect reactions with a perfect edit to show all of it. Outstanding work, Derek.
Seen this,oh,100 times or so. Love their reactions!! The vocal still gives me "spine shivers".
My depression has come back after 4 years.....this up-lifted me beyond words and it is like HOPE has re-appeared...Thank you for this video.......
Stay strong, my friend. Going through much of the same. It's better for me without using meds of any kind except a little alcojol at night to relax.
