  • Testing some new Parts Shop Max suspension bits and pieces as well as a different rear spring rate, track width and alignment. Didn't get very many laps around Balcony because the transmission was showing signs of worn dog rings and sliders, but the few laps I did get proved the changes were positive ones! Absolutely loving the Hankook RS3 tires I'm running this season. Plenty of consistant grip and very predictable.

    Dude I tip my hat to you. To compete competitively in Formula D with the sr against v8 and inline 6's is remarkable. I cant imagine how much money you have to put in it to do so but good job. I love the sr20det and with all the ls swaps and 2jz swaps going into s-chassis cars its refreshing to see someone still sticks to the engine that was meant to be used in that car.

      You do know Kawabata won a championship with a 600hp SR, this dude is a skid pad and ya'll Bustin nuts all over the place it's funny lol

      Jarom Pollister he uses a vvl head, makes so much more usable torque and power over a regular det head, hes also stroked to 2.4L

    900hp from an sr20... wtf is he running to get those numbers on an sr20, and is it not unreliable? i mean 900hp from a 4 cylinder is like extreme, i surprised it doesn't blow up after every run

      thats a 4g63 though, not many people go over 450 crank horsepower in sr20s

      ***** what is like to know is what turbo and how much boost? On my SR20vet im running a 6262 on 37psi making 660whp. Not sure how much it is at the crank probably close to 750. But 900 is achievable dwpending on turbo and boost. There is an S13 in Australia making 840whp with a 6766 on 37psi

      what do you have done internally to your motor? and how often do you find yourself changing parts?(gaskets, turbo parts, piston rings)

      Well honestly if you build anything it will hold whatever you build it for. This obviously is reliable by the way it drives. SR's are baller as fuck.

    Great video, was there any particular reason you deleted VVL? Im building mine now 2.2 and went with 184t cams paired with a 6870 should see the 1000hp mark. Just want to know if there is any difference to keeping vvl or not

  • @gaiustrollius9920
    @gaiustrollius9920 8 лет назад +4

    How reliable is this engine pulling such numbers? It's way past the safe hp standards (500+ hp up to 600 that is) for an sr engine.

    • @gaiustrollius9920
      @gaiustrollius9920 8 лет назад

      Is the vet header that much of a steroid to the engine?

    • @marcomenke2
      @marcomenke2 7 лет назад +3

      Pretty much, yes. The head flows much better. While good flow can be achieved with the DET head, the VE head needs less work here and also offers VVL, which brings gains both in high and low revs. The block itself needs a lot of extra work at over 600-700 hp. The head alone won't help here, just a piece of the puzzle.

    • @SR22VET-S15
      @SR22VET-S15 7 лет назад +1

      Gaius Trollius getting a 4 cylinder to make power requires flow and rpm. the det head has problems revving over 9000rpm even with massive amounts of work due to the rocker arms and them breaking. a standard vvl head out flows a race ported det head and also has the benefits of a different rocker arm design which in soke built engines are seeing 10500rpm with no problems. add the high flowing head with high rpm capability and a well built bottom end and you have yourself a big power 4 cylinder

    • @gaiustrollius9920
      @gaiustrollius9920 7 лет назад +1

      Or you can built a 470 - 480 hp bulletproof sr20 using a vet head and forged pistons. Nice. It almost seems like a pity Nissan didn't come out with a nismo version of the silvia that had the sr20vet from the factory.

    • @SR22VET-S15
      @SR22VET-S15 7 лет назад +1

      Gaius Trollius it is a pitty isnt it.
      there are alot of guys here in Australia making 480whp on stock bottom ends with e85, there is a common misconception that sr20s need to be built to make good power, but with e85 nowdays its not uncommon to see guys pushing 25 psi with fairly large turbos out of stock bottom end sr20s (obviously headwork cams/gears/springs/retainers,headstuds and headgasket). at 550whp most sr20s will start needing sleeved blocks, at 600whp most would benefit from billet main caps and billet girdles, but from my experience the stock bottom ends can handle 480whp (only on e85)

      +Alex Shafer Here in Brazil we do have 1000hp+ cars. They run with VW A.P. (which means High Power in Portuguese) 8v engines, 2.0 liter. We don't use them for Drift purposes, but it can reach that much power and average cost for sure. Other engine type that people around here use to gain and exceed that power: C20XE 2.0 liter, from Opel Calibra and Chevrolet Vectra. :)

      +Xadroot Dorien It's a famous track that's even featured on the Drift Bible. Keiichi Tsuchiya has driven on it quite a few times actually. Hot Version even did one of their episodes at Willow Springs with Tsuchiya and Orido. Ken Gushi was also there looking much younger and he brought his own AE86 that Tsuchiya test drove. If you follow KDF (Keep Drifting Fun) or Hertrech you would of seen it on social media since the All Star Bash event has been held there a couple of times.
