Stuck in the 80s: Some night shots cruising around Dallas in 1987

- Dallas was a cool place on Friday night in the summertime, even in the fall. Lot's of snazzy cars cruising around. What was even cooler, video cameras were a new thing back then and to me it was amazing that you could make your own short skits or films. I wish I would have taped more of Forest Lane which was a big cruise strip. There was no really good way to edit them back then but still to get it on tape was good enough. The cameras were smaller than a toaster and weighed only about 5 lbs, so that was a plus as well !!
My cars didn't mind being taped but my girlfriend sure didn't like it, I can tell you that!
Dude has it all, truck, bike, awesome Celica (I had a '76 and loved it), girl, and rockin' music and no social media. Takes me back😊
Wow, this takes me back! I grew up in Casa View and graduated from Bryan Adams in 1987.
Someone likes his Toyotas
1987 what a great year! I was in Houston. Slippery When Wet Tour - Bon Jovi/Cinderella was that year. I dated a guy who had a red Toyota convertible and another guy who drove a 2-toned Supra. Great video!
Dude dude dude!!! Loving this video man. A slice of nostalgia that instantly took me back to the 80s...my favorite decade.
I'm a huge fan of Robert Plant and Van Halen, also had a neighbor with Toyota much like yours too...so bonus points for all that.
It was a very cool time! Old school meets high tech.
I graduated in 86, i remember all of the girls had hair like that, good times.......
You’ve inspired me to start making videos like this to look back at in 20-40 years, so thanks a bunch! I wonder how different or similar things will be.
Glad you like them and are inspired. I have tons of footage from the 80s but I was such a silly nut I can't use much of it.
102.1 on the tuner😂 Wonder if it was Q102 at that time?? Good times 👍
Sure was! Texas best Rock.
Here in Richmond, VA, that is/was a popular station too.
Very cool, I was driving an 83 highly lifted white Toyota Hilux 4x4 and hit Forest Lane, California Crossing and also Galloway and the power plant in Mesq. Was that an Alpine system and a GPZ in the garage ?
Thanks for the cool memories !
I liked the 79-83 Toyota 4x4s the best... and owned an 80 a few years back. Yeah, I bought the Alpine head unit down in Dallas and I think I got the Yamaha EQ there too. The GPz was a 750 that I bought off a co worker.
In 1987 I rode a 1982 Harley Davidson XLH1000 up and down Forrest Lane. And I knew a guy with a GPz 750 that was pretty good at wheelies and he did them all the time on Forrest Lane.
At the end reminded me of the good ole ''porn crazy'' days..
There was something wrong with that green building... the lighting was sort of flakey. My GF was a bit paranoid about the cops because we had a few rum and cokes back at the house before we left, which probably wasn't a good idea. Also the timing of video to audio is off in this clip. The audio lags by a couple of seconds.
Probably just neon transformer problems. In 2015 they changed it to LED from neon, cause it was so expensive to maintain the glass tubes that spanned 900+ feet up there. Now it changes colors and has light shows based on sports events and holidays and all that.
thanks for uploading that awesome blast from the past! That was the soundtrack of our lives back then... so friggin' cool - I still like it - how much trouble to post with the copyright?
You're welcome, it was fun. It's not like I'm getting paid for any of this and they usually don't do anything. Sometimes they will block the audio... Beatles and Led Zep usually are blocked.
Mine's 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 and My brother's driving 69 Yenko Camero to racing with Toonerfriends in the summer 2006.
You had a gorgeous girlfriend, where is she today? I was 27 in 87, I miss white rock lake on Sundays
She live in Dayton. We tried to get together but she was stuck in Dayton I was planted elsewhere.
Hasn’t changed much honestly
I had one just like that @ 6:15 Threw a rod in it.
Ahh bummer! generally the the 22R were pretty good engines.
