- Local newscast from Dallas / Fort Worth: ABC affiliate WFAA-TV, Spirit of Texas Channel 8.
Anchors: Tracy Rowlett, John Criswell, Troy Dungan, and Dale Hansen. Commercials included.
being born and raised here in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, this brings back so many fond memories when I see old WFAA-TV newscasts. All of the news anchors have retired from WFAA and earlier this year, John Criswell passed away. Rest In Peace Mr. Criswell.
I was a teen of the 1980's and born in the late 60's. So i remember this all to well when i watched the news with my parents.
I loved Channel 8 and watched their news the entire time I lived in the metroplex (1981-1989).
It’s amazing how much more interesting these commercials are to watch!!
This is my childhood 😭 ... My PawPaw always watched the nightly news...I grew up with these names and faces!
❤
13:44 😂 That dude totally ate dirt after that landing, and they think they convincingly fooled us with that cut-away. 😂

🎵The Spirit of Texas on Eight!🎵
wow , I remember this
I wish we had this local show now!
This telecast is from March 25, 1985.
thanks
I just saw your post. I posted the same after looking up Arthur Nicholson & seeing he died March 24.

Oh too bad it didn't go on until the weather report! This was just a few months before I was born but I remember most of these folks on channel 8, they all look so young! Thank you for uploading this.
Hey! I know those guys!! I lived in Plano from 80 to 93.
It would seem to me that the news anchors, reporters, victims, villains and the ordinary people of the 1980s are unequivocally adorable.
Evening broadcast from Monday, March 25, 1985...
Damn those were the days
I mess them too. Wish I could turn back the clock and re-live them one more time.
When Troy Dungan had hair, and Dale Hansen had a thicker toupe. 😂😂😂
Born in 97' here, but I sure do wish I was born back in the day live was much more simple back then 😭 Am i the only one or was I born in the wrong decade 💀
Born in 1996
I guess Channel 8 intended to have news footage and somehow ended up with the desk instead at 0:22. Whoops!
idk why i'm here.. i'm from florida and i was born in '04..
The 80's were a cool time and Fort Worth is a nice place to live.
80s in Dallas were a cyberpunk blast from the past 80s feel. It was grimy- yet fun!

DALE HANSEN WINS !!!!!!!!!
Dale Hansen just retired in 2021.
And he's still not missed. 😅
Do you by chance have a way to get access to the Dallas Adoption series Thursdays Child from 1983,1984? I was on that show with my brothers as that was the last time I saw them.
That sounds sad. I am sorry.
The same issues from 1985 to the present day. Nothing has really changed in thirty five years. Change the names and the places, the hairstyles and you wouldn't know that this was a vintage news reel.
I love how they call it International House of Pancakes instead of IHOP.
KCCI-TV used that same news music as WFAA.

Oh my goodness, 8.8% APR financing for cars. Geeze.
News was so boring back then! They didn't even lead with the Oscar winners. I guess when you only had 3 choices to get your local news they could be more substantive and less fluff.
I have a new respect for Phil Graham after watching this.
You mean the guy who was partially responsible for the home mortgage crisis?
Hitler got the trains to run on time too, but that doesn't mean he wasn't one of the worst humans to ever live.
Just because a politician stands behind the occasional good policy doesn't mean he wasn't trash overall.
This was before the invasion of illegal allians. Wow you can see a big difference
shut up
How can you be this ignorant and stupid
Invasion!🤣Did the Nazis all get jobs as dishwashers and landscapers when they invaded France?
There were lots of illegal aliens at this time.
