as someone who was born in the most isolated state in australia, i spend so much time romanticising other parts of the world... europe... places with snow... especially in the festive months. i have begun to resent the sun, simply for the fact that it has become trivial... and yet i forget how lucky i am to see blue skies at this time of year when family is so important... this video reminded me to be grateful that i live in such a beautiful place, that may not be the most comforting in its harshness... but its home.
That's beautiful! We always romaticise what is out of reach but it can be reassuring to know we can find comfort in and gratitude for the familiar and mundane. Our lives are the dreams of others.
I am Australian but because I grew up in American I have never been *Australian*, to grow up under the sun is one thing that years of fairy bread on birthday mornings and strange colloquialism that my classmates don’t understand will ever be able to comprehend. I went for the first time in my memory a few summers ago, and I see it everywhere I go now.
even though i think about the other places in the world I could move to I think i'd always come back to australia... there's no where else like it and there never will be. the end of the year isn't the same without thirty-degree days and magpies and the bush smell. this is a really lovely video, i hope you have a nice festive season :)
This is so beautiful and touching in many ways! I dream to go to Australia one day ♥️♥️♥️ I am so fascinated by its beauty. This video captures a lot of emotions and feelings. Truly delightful beyond words. Your writing is mesmerizing. I thank you for this 🙏🏼
I want it to be warm again 😭 I am freezing over up here in Germany where I moved about eight years ago. This is the first winter I really started loathing the cold.
when you're out of the airport and the doors to the outside open and the heat hits you, it just revitalises you doesn't it. You just feel whole again, like a vampire that has feasted on the most pure of blood. Your eyes see again, gone is a the cloud of darkness and fog, the photons pelt you most vividly.
