lilascharm one may have wasted 80 years yet still have 20 years to live it for the Lord, but another who wasted 27 years may only have a day left. May the Lord grant us many more years to truly live for Him and to serve Him in every possible way, not wasting even a second :)

Absolutely profound insight and words of wisdom from Pastor John! Only God knows how much I love, respect and appreciate him. He has been a tremendous blessing and help to me for some time. I am 70 years old and have strived to serve the Lord over a span of nearly 40 years. I am frequently nearly overwhelmed with a sense of failure. But thanks be to God for His marvelous GRACE and for HIS wisdom imparted to John Piper for the encouragement of men like myself. And thank you John Piper for doing the hard work over a lifetime to make yourself such a fitting vessel of honor for our Master's use! To GOD BE THE GLORY!!!

I love this podcast. I deeply love what I have been given in this. I thank you. I thank you. Praise be to God in Christ for this prayer over this question and pain was answers and given with power and care.
I want to use this as encouragement to give myself strength to pursue godliness and growth in grace. I do not know how long I have to live, but I pray to use it to glorify God in more ways than my brother on the cross who God has loved I trust and know.
Thank you sir John. Thank you. And my God enrich and bless and correct the man in pain and regret to do His good works in Christ Jesus. Amen.

I feel this man,s pain. I feel the same way. I am 28. I have a two year degree in Liberal Arts. I have a four year degree in English. The only job offers I was able to get were for jobs that did not require a degree, that anyone with or without a highschool diploma can do, and that are not meaningful, challenging, or fulfilling. I have more education than my parents and 99% of my family. I did everything that American society ordered me to do. I did many hours of unpaid community service before and during college. When I began looking for work I had to stop because I got very sick so I put my job search on hold. I also had to stop because of the Covid19 pandemic and lockdown. I cannot afford to attend law school or medical school. I overcame learning disabalaties, Cerebralpalsy, ten strokes, brain damage, and coming from a low-income family. I am smart, driven, and hardworking. I have asked JESUS and GOD many questions about my situation.

I have been so lost and just destroyed most of my life and everything good just for comfort and pleasure and was drawn to the dark side through gangs , drugs and he had pulled me out and reviled so much to me and my heart was not right place and was decieved thinking God was going to restore me and my husband from drugs , prison but I have been bound to addiction and just feel trapped in it and no matter how much I try , I feel God has turn me over and I'm in such despair because I don't know how to make him my only source of comfort and when I had tried to let go of everything and cried out for him to let me feel his love and comfort to were I felt like my chest was caving in and having panic attack , I feel so rejected and just a waste of life that God doesn't even want and I just feel so tired and weak and lost I just want to die, but terrified that May not be a relief if God says he never knew me. Please pray . I'm so desperate and broken.

A tough life you’ve lived. I am a woman who was born again, obeyed God for about two months, then fell away and wasted all my time neglecting prayer, Bible, church and works for nearly two years. We are in the same boat. We can have peace if we choose to turn to Christ. He is the only one Way. It will all work out for the best. It always does.❤️

This was very important for me to hear today. I'm amazed how my circumstances and thoughts are so similar to Bruce's. I'm 65, had a failed relationship, a breakdown and now work as a gardener. It really tests our hearts. We learn to trust God in His providential dealings with us. I also recognize His providence in bringing this message to me today as I struggled with the same discouraging thoughts that Bruce spoke about. I've been helped by all this today.

Thank you very much❤. I've been struggling with university applications for a while now, and I've been really worried that I've dissapointed my parents. I thought that maybe it was over because of many missed opportunities. I have lived my life procrastinating and this has brought me great sadness. But with your words I believe its finally time I throw away my old self and improve. After this message I prayed for the first time in years, truly thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I had a good life, good friends, good opportunities. I am now completely lost. I’m drifting further and further away from a fulfilled life. Living with my mom and just earning a paycheck. No career future in front. I’ve been left behind by my friends. They ones around me are assholes who doesn’t want my success. I am now struggling to establish myself in someway. I feel like a failure. Not even able to hold my own weight. I am contemplating suicide. Cuz there isn’t much for me to look forward to anymore. Might as well end it and not cuz anymore trouble or pain.

Thank you pastor and Bruce. This message really lifted my spirits.
Especially the message about the repentant thief on the cross, who spent his life in sin without God.
Jesus told him "today you will be with me in paradise".
    This is so awesome!
I'm 54, and have spent much of my life in sin. I have repented and returned to Christ and Church.
But am often filled with regret, guilt and shame. Which sends me in to very deep depression, and thoughts of impending doom, and wanting to give up, and wishing for death.
When I sin, it sends me spinning in to despair. And when I say spinning, my head literally spins, I get so dizzy I can't see straight. I'm so perplexed when I sin, again and again. It's an addiction.
    Yes, a porn addiction.
I repent, and feel like I'm done with it. Then I go into autopilot, and can't resist, and do it again.
I pray and pray. To no avail.
It's a pathetic and ugly, and hopeless feeling.
Why won't Jesus heal me and redeem me of this "curse"?
I can live with the low income, loneliness, but this addiction is killing me. The resulting despair is unliveable. Anyone?
    This is insane!
I've literally entertained the, "better to enter heaven with one(or no) eye, than hell with two) or heaven with one hand than hell with two."
Yes, it's that bad and hopeless.
    Pray for me.

I'm 36 and only recently came to God and surrendered my life to Him. I was blessed enough to be born into a God loving family but I was influenced at a young age from external forces that I was not straight and began seeing the lgbtq identity as normal and pretty much was deceived and open rebellion against God for most of my life. I feel so... weak. Like a little kid scared of getting lost again.

It's not too late. I feel that way too though sometimes.
      So many ruined opportunities.
I'm 54, single, no kids. Have a job any 18 yr old can do, like Bruce.
Live in a place I do not like, SE Washington. And how I ended up here, a result, of trusting the wrong people, and a series of bad decisions, since I left Hawaii in 08. With my fortune, my life savings, my inheritance. Gave 1/2 away, and squandered the rest on rent, motorcycles, surfboards, travel and decadent foods and lifestyle.
Now I live paycheck to paycheck, have no friends or family. It's a very lonely, empty existence.
I do attend church regularly. That's about the only thing, my faith, that gives me reason to go on.
I carry an enormous cross daily, of regret, shame and feelings of missed opportunities.
But somehow keep going and have hope.
I'm a senior caregiver. Some of the people I've worked for, have been married, or remarried, in there 60's, even 70's.
      So there's hope yet.

brother. do not get caught up on physical works. U have a mind that still works.. yes? the body may be wasted but your mind is not?
well then u can have a pray life. U can pray for people. U can work on renewing your mind so can have a pray life. U can labour just as effectively for the lord in prayer as well as physical labour. . don't focus on what u can't do. but on what u can do. if u truly want to serve them pray to God. Lord here I am. U know my limitations... what can I do for u?
even pray for the right attitude change of heart. God will give u even this. and if truly want to serve watch out. God will open the doors. but Brother I caution u. if u are using this for a excuse not to labour or its your pity party. or the woe is me.... u are defeated before u start. God Almighty will give u the disire the need the ability he will give it all. are u willing to say Lord I wasted such and such this is all I have. but here I am. use me. and he will. just take that so small step in obiedance and watch him work. stand back and watch The Lord God in Heaven move mightly in u.

U could have died long ago before coming to christ. dead in sins in hell. U thanking God for this? thanking God u still have some time. we'll praise God..all of this is good works. I GOT SOMETHIN' The reason we don't drink from Jesus is that we don't know Jesus. 2 reasons. (1) I've never known Him (unsaved)
      (2) I'm thinking I'm saved while I've started focusing on the Golden calves in front of me (ie.) prayer, church, fasting, tithing, missions (all the pharisaical attributes). These make me believe I'm a strong holy Christian. Instead of these things coming out of me because I love Him, today they come because I'm promised (falsely) that I'll get much in return for the above deeds. So instead of drinking from Christ (being a chaste virgin for Christ), I start drinking from every spring I see (committing "adultery"). That's why I'll be surprised when the day comes & the Lord asks me "who am I?" I thought I was His child (because I did all the pharisaical things) but He'll say "He never knew me".
So one who is never saved will be the only person who'll not drink from Christ. Falling & getting up (with remorse & pain at having hurt my loving Savior), with the aid of the Holy Spirit within me, would be the clearest evidence of being born again. The more I drink the more my wickedness becomes evident & the more I begin to realize the enormity of the cost that was paid on Calvary

He was so condescending about whether this man is a Christian at the beginning. Why would a man of God be so conditional?

    • @shaunholley533
      @shaunholley533 2 года назад +1

Lynn he wasn't being condescending at all, in fact he said that he was going to assume the best, that the man was indeed a Christian. And the reason this is of the very utmost importance is because there is 1 and only 1 SURE way to truly totally waste your life and that is to live your entire life without accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. By failing to act and accept His substitutionary sacrifice for your sins. By refusing to do thus, you literally commit yourself voluntarily to hell as Jesus and His finished work is the one and only way possible to receive forgiveness for sins and eternal life.

I experienced the same thing as you for a while because I removed many sinful things from my life but I failed to replace those with good things (which left me feeling empty). Spend much time in prayer and in the word (prayer is more difficult, but the benefits it provides are greater). Seek to conform every aspect of your life to scripture. As you start to see how impossible it is in your own strength, you will see how important it is to ask for God's help. Also, don't just pray for your own needs, but pray for the needs of other people who attend the same church as you (I'm assuming that you're part of a local church). If you do that, you shouldn't feel so empty inside anymore. As Leonard Ravenhill once said, "no man is greater than his prayer life."

You work out your salvation and not for it. Faith without deeds is dead. Before you worked for your own glory now you are an employee from the Lord. You’ll still be in heaven but his works are important to bring from heaven to earth that brings him glory. We are the missing piece of the puzzle for we work under our master. That is why it’s called a “masterpiece”.

Ypu keep mentioning works in relation to the thief on the cross..Christs death and resurrection on the cross was the ultimate
Work that produced the grace needed for salvation. Without that sarcrificial work we will be judged by our works and recieve our just wage.
