- Another day as a used car dealer. Today a customer decided to take one of my cars (Jaguar XF) on the road without consent. He managed to get a couple of hundred yards down the road and he crashed into another car head on.

Back in the day I sold a Cavalier Sri to a mate, he wrapped it round a lamppost before paying me the full amount for it. I chased him for a while for the remaining money, until he died of an overdose... Bit of a shitter all round. Late '90's.

Not true these days. I have a 307 xsi. Over a decade ago, some idiot in a Carpark reverse hit Volvo v40 into my car on the passenger front side at full speed from 300m away. My pug was 2 years older than his. My car had 3k worth of repairs but his car car was a write off.
Either they planned to steal the car or he was going way to fast round corner and that how he ended up in wrong lane, probably combination of both him stealing car and driving off to fast.

You would think he would have stayed with the customer or had a sales rep stay with him. If you give your car keys to someone or even leave them in your car then most insurance companies will not cover you for theft. At least that's what it says in the small print on my insurance.

He was driving in the middle of the road so your logic was to swerve right into his lane to avoid him? Is that before or after you realised youd taken a car for a test drive without permission?
He was probably driving on the right side of the road because that's what he's used to doing in Poland or wherever he's from

I like this video.... I cannot understand why he drove off with your car, what a bloody crazy guy.... This video went down well with me because it details an eventful day for a car trader, no dragy times or similar, just a gritty insight into the going-ons in the trade.... brilliant stuff mate and glad you got payment and nobody got seriously hurt

This could have been catastrophic, good job there was no motorbike, cycle or pedestrian coming the other way. Well done getting the wireless card payment device quickly in your CS. You handled that really well, sometimes it's difficult to think on the spot!
Dude was trying to explain that the Merc came out of the bend in the middle of the road, he panicked and he pulled right to retreat on the side you do feel you are supposed to be on, as an European driver you do have that reflex and it is hard to overcome it, especially if you have more years driving on the right side of the road than you have driving on the left side.
So he was in the wrong in the UK....
Then don't drive in the UK if there's a risk you'll randomly swerve to the wrong side of the road lol
Calvin you should invite the Mercedes driver to come view some of your cars, maybe hook him up with something similar or better once he’s got his payout

Hopefully there is some independent witnesses or dash cam footage or the jag driver can claim it was merc drivers fault and ends up as 50/50 and its likely jag drivers insurance company would tell him to deny fault.Happened to me twice even after the other party admitted fault at the roadside.
@@andyhunt457 normally yeah, but looking at where both cars ended up, and the way they must if hit by the crash damage on the front, on that blind corner after stealing the car... I doubt anyone's beliving that yellow shirt guy.
@@DaftFader Trust me when I say that don't matter when it's one person's word against another.Some drove right into the side of me on a roundabout wrote my car off.They admitted it when they got out then changed their minds later on insurance advice as no independent witnesses.I would have had to change the laws of physics to drive my nearside in his front end. Still
made no difference.Police don't do any reports or allocate blame even when they attend and see the obvious like in this case.

He could make a direct claim with MIB (Motor Insurance Bureau) as the other driver was uninsured.
@@mda5003 Yep may well be a Motor insurers bureau claim. Especially with any injury.They will return to the last known insurer which will probably be the trade insurance.

I think he's saying that the Mercedes driver was in the middle of the road, and the Jaguar driver swerved to his right to avoid him, but the Mercedes driver also then quickly swerved to the same side.

I don’t know where I saw this but I saw a video of people buying a motorcycle and before they made the payment they started loading it onto the trailer and because it wasn’t balanced it fell straight off the edge.

Been behind a car that "forgot which side to drive on" was terrifying. Flashing the lights blasting the horn trying to get them back on the right side but before I could do anything they took a blind corner like this one and i had to back off and look on in fear. They ended up having a head on with a local, at low speed thankfully but still a shambles. Tourists from overseas and were too busy admiring the scenery.
I live in a rural area too with lots of farms so they were lucky it wasn't a tractor or something or the last thing that would go through their mind would be their windscreen

I think he was going to have it away with your car. Forgotten what country he lived in and in the panic of getting away he drove on wrong side of road. I feel sorry for the guy in the Mercedes. Hit by a uninsured driver. Now he has to claim off his own insurance. He insurance premium will double next year through no fault of his own.
If he wanted to just nick it then he wouldn’t hand left his mate and he wouldn’t have hung around to pay for the car after he’d crashed it.

Really difficult for the Mercedes driver, but fortunately in the UK we are lucky to have really good value insurance and his premium shouldn't double.
It may go up slightly, but equally, his renewal could still end up cheaper.

Best way to make sure that can’t happen again. Is to get the security gates on auto close, so they can only drive out once you open them. The fact that he took it without permission is a bit worrying. So maybe the accident happened to prevent him stealing it. Good thing the Merc driver appears to have minor injuries and I hope it stays that way. Much success to you and love the videos regardless of whether they are planned

The guy who nicked the jag forgot which country he is in! To be honest Calvin, you have done him a favour getting him to pay for it. The police could have done him for theft and driving without insurance etc if he hadn’t paid!

Calvin acted correctly in own intrest. Otherwise he would have been dragged to courts, would have to go to civil court to get his money for the Jag and repairs from the bloke, if at all.
I guess you won’t be giving people the keys to cars now then lol.
The sad thing is the merc driver will have to use his own insurance to make a claim as the guy at fault has no insurance to claim against. The police will charge him for driving with no insurance which will be a tiny fine… and this is the world we live in lol
Dont forget the 6points too but technically he should be done for TWOC because at the time of the accident it was a stolen vehicle too
Some policies allow you to drive other cars third party. He might get away with a fine for no road tax.
@@mnoovurvi even if he had drive other cars on his insurance to allow him to drive other vehicles third party the vehicle would have to have a main policy (trade insurance doesn’t count in that)

Calvin gave the key to the driver so was technically aiding and abetting the accident.

I thought the Jaguar’s guy story was clear. The Mercedes guy was supposedly driving in the middle of the road. So the Jaguar guy moved to the right (which was the wrong way) to avoid the Mercedes. But the Mercedes also moved to that same side to try and get back in lane colliding. There is definitely two sides. He needs a lawyer that can translate his story for him.
A Romanian guy test drove my £200 banger of a vw bora... When he turned right onto a empty road he was on the wrong side for about 30 seconds.. I knew the Road was empty but he didn't even realise.

I`m absolutely amazed he put his card in that machine and paid. Don`t get me wrong I applaud the man for doing so. But I`m guessing no insurance blah blah blah. He could`ve said he had permission, therefore still being your car. Then took punishment for no insurance etc and saved himself a lot of money. A very unusual situation I`m happy it worked out for you. My luck wouldn`t be so good lol.
Hey i just wanted to let you know that this guy is from a small town in the country of Macedonia. Basically we drive on the right side of the road and he forgot that, that's not how you drive in England. He may have hit the other guy cause of that and now hes trying to make the other guy guilty. The town he comes from is pretty small and everyone knows eachother. People have recognised him and he's already a meme.
