He couldn't cope with it and Ron Howard called in literal CIA agents who train people to deal with torture. Jim had to sit through the makeup procedure 100 times! Thankfully with tactics he learnt from the agents he was able to mentally survive. He speaks about it on an episode of The Graham Norton Show.

Your company pays for the makeup to be made, and then it's sold for more money so you make the profit back that you spent, but then the profit leftover from charging more then its made for is for you and whoever else, you can't sell stuff for how much its made, not manufactured goods atleast.
