This is not an uncommon problem and is endemic in a lot of ‘consumer’ electronics. Oftentimes this is due to the fact that there is no mechanical arrangement for fixing the USB socket in position and it is entirely reliant on the soldered connections to maintain in its position. Bad (and cheap) engineering as the repetitive inserting and withdrawal of the charging lead fatigues the soldered connections and compromises them from an electrical perspective (high resistance joints).
