I am a member of West African descent. I’ve been wondering for several years why our church doesn’t teach on this topic in depth, even though it is detailed in scripture and in the words of early prophets. Christians in other parts of the world often talk about how western Christians are spiritually asleep with regard to how spiritual influences are the root cause of many ailments, and behaviors. This topic definitely needs more attention, especially among bearers of the Priesthood after the order of the Son of God. Thank you for this❤

thank you for pointing this out! I was born into the church and remember as a child my mom specifically talking about what to do if we were to be approached by a spirit. We were told to test the spirit and that a spirit sent from God, (an angel) would never ask us to shake its hand. We were also told (and I am a firm believer of this and have used this countless times throughout life)to always call upon the name of Jesus Christ to cast it out. This has protected me many times!!
I wholeheartedly agree that the church needs to talk about this subject now more than ever because we are in the throes of spiritual warfare because we are at the final hour before the Lord comes! Satan is no longer hiding what he is or plans to do to mankind! And in order to defeat the enemy, we need to first be able to identify the enemy!!
Everyone at some point or another has been influenced or afflicted by evil spirits regardless of their righteousness. The New Testament is filled with stories of Christ dealing with them. Why else would we have a need for Jesus Christ if it wasn't for that exact purpose? To conquer the enemy!

Thank you for your insights. In Western societies, we have definitely fallen asleep in understanding the spiritual realm. A lot of that has to do with our scientific culture which benefits us a lot, but also closes our eyes to some very significant realities. And when we close our eyes to the realities of the spiritual realm, we become vulnerable to all kinds of deception and affliction.

Because we are a missionary church , only the basics such as faith, repentance, etc are taught to the general membership. Then, we are told to study on our own following prophets words and the many books, articles on advanced subjects. It's Like going from first grade to the second, we build on what we are taught/ learn.

@@latterdaypresentationsI’ve seen many RUclips testimonials from people who fell into new age deception and finally found Christ. Yoga, meditation (eastern meditation), law of attraction, etc. come under the guise of healing, positivity, exercise, etc. . The reality is that these are actually ancient occult practices. They open doors to the spiritual realm, leaving a person vulnerable to oppression. It’s basically witchcraft/sorcery repackaged in an innocent facade.

This has to be the most insightful thing I've ever heard in this area. For YEARS I've often said to others that we need to be questioning how many of our thoughts are our thoughts and how many are given to us by another spirit and it also coincides with my personal opinion that much of if not all mental health issues are spiritual in nature. Thank you so much for everything you do and I'm glad I've just discovered this channel. This is the first video I've seen from it.

Wow, this resonnated with me. (Mental Health TW) At the beginning of this year, I began to disbelieve in both the church and Jesus Christ. It was an incredibly difficult time for me and I spent a lot of time grieving.
A couple of things to note - I had a bout of depression the winter before that and had been in therapy for about 6-8 months when this happened.
During this period of grieving my lost faith, I began to have a voice in my head that said life wasn't worth it and maybe if I died, I would know for sure whether there was an afterlife or not. I tried to push these thoughts away and I knew logically that they were objectively untrue. Still, they did not stop until I cried out to God in the name of Jesus to heal me. It was an "I don't know if you're there" prayer, but God took that voice away and I slowly began to believe again.
Interestingly, in my first bout of depression a year before, I had no wish or thoughts of ending my life, even though it was much harder for me to get up in the morning and think positively about anything. There is something very real to the name of Jesus Christ and His healing.

Counting our blessings isn’t a trite saying, it is a way to mend our mental health as we recognize that even though we feel horrible now, there was a time we felt His love. We are all Worthy of feeling that love and it will come again, just as HE is coming again.

Wow! This is SO FASCINATING! Thank you for making this video! This confirms so many of my own personal beliefs that I have been forming for the past few months about how the spirit world works as well as how spirits can influence us and even influence our own personal health (both mental and physical).
I have had my own experiences lately with what I can only describe as a demon that was influencing me without my knowledge. I had been going though some financial struggles and I struggled feeling bitter and angry about it. I've also struggled with an addiction to p0rn my whole life and one day during my financial troubles I had an addiction relapse. Immediately afterwards, I began thinking about my problems and feeling so much more hopeless, and incredibly bitter and angry toward God. I was having a faith crisis and on the verge of giving up on my faith. However, it was time for my wife and I to read scriptures and pray as we had scheduled, but I didn't want read or to pray. I was feeling like it was worthless to pray because God was not answering my prayers as I wanted. My wife convinced me that we should just do it and get it over with as we scheduled. I agreed reluctantly and we read scriptures.
As we read I felt the Holy Spirit come strongly into my heart and my anger, bitterness, pain, and hurt just evaporated. I felt the most amazing sense of peace and motivation that I hadn't felt in a long time. All of a sudden I wanted to go to the temple, pray, read scriptures and do the things I knew I should. I did a complete 180 from total anger and despare to peace and happiness. I realized that my addiction relapse opened the door to me being influenced heavily by Satan. I am certain that one of his demons was wispering in my ear tempting me and made me feel those bitter, angry, and hopeless feelings.
I have struggled with depression and anxiety my entire life. After that experience I began feasting on the scriptures and General Conf talks like never before. I NEEDED to have more of that peace in my life. Since making it a habit of feasting on the scriptures instead of going through the motions, I have felt almost completely cured of my depression and anxiety. I have seen major improvements in my health and I've seen the power of God working through me, giving me answers to prayers that I haven't prayed about in a long time.
I now know that evil spirits and good spirits are very real influences in our lives, even after we are baptized. I think about these things a lot more often now. I've been listening to paranormal podcasts and I've learned a lot about how the spirit world is all around us and how it works based on people's experiences. This video confirmed a lot of those things that I've learned both through the stories I've heard and the teachings of the Holy Ghost to my soul.

I think it a very important thing to realize is that it wasn't you feeling depressed and addicted to porn it was the spirits making you feel that way by the thoughts that they continuously put in to your mind.
Not all thoughts are our own! Any negative thought about yourself or someone else is put there by an evil spirit! Any good thought about yourself or someone else is put there by a good spirit. We have to conquer them (the evil spirits) through Christ by calling them liars and doing the good despite the bad thoughts that these miserable spirits make us think are our own! Spiritual war is real 24-7, we suffer because if a lack of knowledge! These things are so goid to know as you can then realize the enemy is invisible but is very real and there! This knowledge has helped me see people who are suffering with physical and mental problems in an entirely new light!, they are bombarded by evil spirits! Schizophrenics are a perfect example if this, they are not hallucinations, they are hearing very real people!
Some of these spirits when they were on earth died in their sins and addictions and flock to who they can get their fix through! Alcoholics are plagued by earthbound spirit alcoholics. Addiction is caused by the relentless thought stream from these spirits. Next time you feel this desire to look at porn (because of them)because you definitely will, realize they are right there over your shoulder. Turn around and face them and say with a loud voice "in the name of Christ, I command you leave my home!". I promise if you do this with authority they will leave!
Thank you for sharing your experiences! This information has to be learned if we are to rise to the challenge and through Christ, all things are possible! God bless!

@latterdaypresentations I do podcasts from time to time about my experiences on both sides of the veil as I am prompted by Heavenly Father. My patriarchal blessing speaks about me testifying of the special experiences I've been given to strengthen others' testimonies. I am careful I don't like to come under condemnation by Father. One must not teach to far past what an individual has a foundation for, less that person will stop desiring to learn. On the other side, if Father asks you to testify and you do not testify, you will come under condemnation. We must all learn to hear the spirit to survive in these days.

In the final scene of that NDE I knelt and begged to return to my body so that I might bring faith, hope and courage to all that I meet. The only book I have written was about reconnecting with my wife and my ups and downs of reconnecting with heaven to find the peace I knew on the other side of the veil. I'm grateful you took time to go this presentation. Great information for those who are seeking to become one within themselves. Mind, body and spirit!
Elder Christofferson did this in his April 2023 talk, One in Christ
Becoming one in Christ happens one by one-we each begin with ourselves. We are dual beings of flesh and spirit and are sometimes at war within ourselves. As Paul expressed:
“For I delight in the law of God after the inward man; “But I see another law in [the] members [of my body], warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.”
Jesus was also a being of flesh and spirit. He was tested; He understands; He can help us achieve unity within."

@latterdaypresentations I was reading the history of George Albert Smith recently and he said this to a struggling missionary:
"If you discouragement at any time... go to a quiet place and kneel down and pray to the Lord to rebuke the evil spirit for you may always know that discouragement and despondency are the result of an evil influence. Some of the best men in the world have been attacked by it and only by persistent prayer and faith have they been able to rebuke it. A man cannot be unhappy while the Spirit of the Lord is burning in his bosom."
He experienced a whole bunch of health issues and depression and anxiety, even while serving as an Apostle. But he learned to trust the Lord and the Spirit to help him manage his ever anxious mind, thus helping his body handle his issues better.
You don't have to speculate too far that the adversary knows about the mind- body- spirit connection!

Thank you for taking the time to make this video! As a convert, my old religion used to talk about this type of thing all the time. I was very frustrated that in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we did not learn about such things, or people seemed to read any verse about the adversary and rush through it. It was as if talk of such things was seen as taboo or not allowed. It was very puzzling to me because I know the adversary does in fact put thoughts in our minds. He uses personal pronouns to make us believe those thoughts are our own thoughts too! I have a lot to say about such things and like you I believe with President Nelson stating the Lord's coming is soon that we will see a greater need to know these things. The adversary of our souls knows his time is up, and I am sure he did not like the Lord's prophet speaking this way last conference while declaring such things with his authoritative priesthood keys. I digress.
Thoughts from Satan are like: "I don't feel like praying, reading my scriptures, or going to the temple....I want to do (insert anything that keeps us from seeking and having the Spirit)….God doesn't love ME...Heavenly Father is not MY father...Why does Heavenly Father keep Heavenly Mother away from ME....I like (insert something that is contrary to the Gospel, The Family: A Proclamation to the World)….I am not or I am (anything related to the Gospel, the Savior, and the doctrine, like The Family: A Proclamation to the World)." These are just a few examples, as I am sure he has many different phrases at his disposal to use to keep us from seeking God.
He confuses people into thinking these thoughts are their own because of the use of these personal pronouns; I and ME. I don't ever hear anyone at Church say these things. This is an important lesson for the youth to know. How else can you fight your enemy if you don't know how he operates?
I have tried to teach my children such things, but it has been hard because of the culture of the Church to avoid such topics it is like I am coming out of left field and am being ridiculous, like a conspiracy theorist, well, how that word has become a pejorative in our American society. They refuse to see how him and his minions will put thoughts into people, and use all sorts of media to capture the hearts and minds of the youth. These things are a gateway to him either oppressing or outright possessing people. We know this from what we learn in the temple.
I appreciate you going over the family connection. I have always felt that there are spirits who attached themselves to families over generations. I felt these verses (see: Numbers 14:18, Exodus 34:7, and Deuteronomy 5:9) were key to this idea of these spirits following around a family and attacking them in ways. Such as a family who has a high instance of drug addiction, depression, suicides, or sexual perversions to name a few examples of what you see the world stating as a hereditary issue when I have always felt it was a spiritual one. I feel like this is a spiritual attack from the adversary to attack a family because of someone in the family was not able to overcome and cast out this particular spirit who's "calling" it is to push a family towards any particular tendency/sin.
I have heard somewhere how you can't cast out an evil spirit out of someone if they don't give you permission, but I think of the man in scripture who was cutting himself. HIs family asked the Lord to do it. Are there instances where this is OK? I am guessing his family was his parents. There has to be an OK for this type of thing if the parents, who have stewardship, can cast it out.
I wish you had reference the verses during the slide at the 2:00 mark. This would have been helpful to me. I hope in the next video you will reference the verses on how you came to find the categories to these types of spirits.

Thanks for the feedback. I think some of our reluctance to talk about these things in the church has to do with the fact that some people turn these kinds of concepts into really unhealthy gospel hobbies and they end up inviting evil into their lives. This one came on the heels of others that have been teaching me these concepts and how critical it is to fill our environment, our minds, our hearts, and our homes with truth and light. I was hoping that Alma 34:34 would have been mentioned; I don't remember the minute in the video where he talks about: that we will not automatically turn into a nice person or have our mortal vices automatically undone, but this verse teaches and validates that very principal which was mentioned. I have surrounded myself with the best books from the best lds authors and other religious leaders and I feel like I have in them the best minds and friends in the world. I also feast on the scriptures daily but there is something that happens to me every once in a while and I have never connected it with any one circumstance: In a split second I feel another entity, like I am two people. It really frightens me and is very uncomfortable. It is impossible to explain. It is like my spirit just split in two. It doesnt last more than a few seconds. Not to sound crazy or add anything that takes away from the overall message here. When i was on my mission as a 21year old, i experienced a few otherworldly experiences. One was me being possessed by an evil spirit. One was encountering an evil spirit (not seen, just in the form of a man), and feeling the heavy presence of evil spirits. The possession happened last. And upon reflection i can see because i didnt "cleanse" myself prior, it allowed this tag along spirit to get me. I dont tell people this. Ive only told my family. Because it sounds crazy, feels crazy to admit too. We encountered a man on whos door we knocked, door was open, we could see right down his hallway. When he came in sight and saw it was missionaries. He almost ran at us foaming at his mouth, swearing off his head and we could see when he got close his eyes were just black. No colour, just black. We felt urgently to leave. We did. Next was in an investigators home. He had alot of skull ornaments and loved really strange things that made me feel off. And lastly was one night after companionship study, i was feeling off. I couldnt put my finger on why. I started thinking i was going crazy because. I thought i was hearing a voice in my head. And i looked at my companion and told him somethings wrong. He straight away went to give me a blessing and my leg started shaking uncontrollably. I couldnt stop it. And 3 times he had command the spirit to leave me. The first 2 times it resisted and the shaking got worse. And the voice he said he could actually here now in his mindd swearing at him calling him all sorts of names. On the 3rd go my comp got very loud and forceful with "in the name of jesus christ." But as soon as that happened my leg stopped and i felt like someone had removed a weight from my chest and the next door neighbours dog started barking off its nut..... Spirits are absolutely real. But i dont share my experiences ever because even members seem to think your crazy wnd like its not real.

I have been learning more about this topic randomly over the past year. I feel like God keeps putting things in my path that keep teaching the same thing: Satan is real, his followers are real, the spirit world is real, and its all right here around and inside us. I do wish our leaders talked about this more. It would help us know/realize what we're up against. But i guess that is what they're doing by saying, "go to the temple as often as circumstances allow..." "Repent daily...". "Spend sacred time with God every day..." They're giving us the tools, and i feel like as I've learned about the reality of the spiritual war we're in, i want to heed their advice and take it WAY more seriously.
My question, if you do a follow up video:
What can we do to detatch these "others" that are in our minds? How do we locate them and get them out without therapy?
And how can I cast out an evil spirit without the priesthood as a woman?
Do all ailments and sicknesses come from evil spirit influences?
So many questions, those are just a few.

    • @latterdaypresentations
      @latterdaypresentations  2 месяца назад +1

Those are great questions. My own view (based on my experience- don't consider this doctrinal) is that evil influences are removed from us when we take the sacrament with a heart that is sincerely repentant. I have had countless experiences where I have come to the sacrament full of negativity and confusion, and then after taking the sacrament I have felt through the rest of the sabbath that my soul fills with light and all of the evil is dispelled.
I also strongly recommend learning how to fast. Fasting well is a really powerful discipline for dispelling evil from us.
And no, not all ailments and sicknesses come from evil. Most are just a reality of living in our fallen world.
I'm glad this presentation was helpful to you, and I hope you'll spend some time on some other presentations we have done.

First of all I have a friend who is not a member who talks to me about her parts who she has learned to live with.
Traumas are the result of this, her phscyologist told her. It is completely fascinating to me how she manages to live with all of these parts in her life and how they have become part of her. I’ve never been sure they are always a positive influence on her and a few of her parts are young children and teenagers. I understand it so much better after watching this. I will listen to this again. I need to understand it myself before I would be tempted to share it. I’m not sure how she would receive it but I would love for her to have a spiritual understanding. A few of her parts have told her, they like me. It’s strange that I always felt it was a good thing but I couldn’t explain why. This has explained so much to me and it resonates with me and how my friend tries to manage her life.
My husband and I also know someone who quite likes the darker side, shall I say but suffers from very low mood and depression and very much isolates herself. Lives in a house that’s on it’s own. I think she would call herself a goth. She loves petrifying scary movies. She loves the dark side. How? I have always felt this is not good for her or anyone for that matter. I watched Carrie years ago before I became a member. I was thirteen and I felt petrified and it scared me half to death. I figured out that my spirit didn’t like it without knowing why at the time.
I used to love programs that were wholesome and felt good without really understanding why.
When I was in the MTC I had an incredible experience with people’s spirits. I had the privilege of feeling people’s spirits on a higher level. I noticed very quickly that each spirit was very different. Some I felt, nothing at all. When I was lying in bed at night I knew that there were spirits all around me. They kept me awake at night. It was overwhelming. I am able to discern spirits to this day and I can feel a room change immediately in certain situations. I can have someone smiling at me and I know they don’t like me at all. It can often be a blessing but sometimes it can be a curse. It’s up to me to win those spirits. They won’t change by themselves. I need to exercise my agency in these situations, usually with service opportunities. Thank you again for a wonderful presentation.
I would recommend. The ‘Light of the perfect Day’ as a valuable talk to read!

I also believe that evil spirits can use past experiences that have caused slight traumas that a person had no idea were coming because of the wickedness of others and evil spirits can bring those back to our recollections in various ways. Without going into too many details about it , I have had to hear a lot things out of people and I have also witnessed a lot of bad things out of people over the years. That includes church members who have since been excommunicated and many non-members. In my area there were a lot of bad people in the schools, college, and in the job places. There were a lot of good people too, but many were just bad. Eventually, I wised up and kept to myself a lot, but I do believe I got some scars from some of the language I heard and some of the things I witnessed.
But having said that, I haven't witnessed what some combat soldiers have witnessed. I have been around a few of them and I heard a few of the stories. In fact, some people say that I remind them of a military person even though I knew not to go military. Any way, the scriptures say that the , “the field is white already to harvest” (D&C 4:4). I believe it also says that the laborers are few. For some reason, I thought of this scripture on this topic.

We know in our church that Satan wants all glory. When we entertain the idea that he is influencing us, we are bringing glory to him, because he wants us to know of his evil and his powers. When we focus on it then we are giving glory. We believe the Article of Faith "anything Virtuous, Lovely or of good report or praiseworthy we seek after these things. We know in "The Book of Mormon" Moroni 7:13
Everthing which inviteth and enticeth to do good, and to love God, and to serve him, is inspired of God. If that's true then all you have to do is be in the presence of good and darkness will prevail.

This is a good article. There is nothing new for me but everything you talked about I have had to learn from experience. When I was a child, occasionally the older folk would talk about devil and I would get the heebie-jeebies and every time, I would have the same nightmare where I would be running from someone who I could not see and I would be running as fast as I could, but it did not seem I could run fast enough, but then, fortunately, I would wake up and I would be fine. Then when I went on my mission to Chile, we started teaching a couple. The wife was a spiritualist and she would go into trances and she would paint and write revelations. At that point in time, I did not realize that it was demon possession. Anyway, the couple went to church with us, and in our next meeting the wife told about her experience in the meeting. I did not understand the language very well, so I did not understand what she was saying, so on the way home, my companion told me what she said. She told him about her spirit guide who would appear as an eye and when she would go into a trance, the eye would inhabit her body. She said that when they went to church, that the eye was circling around the ceiling of the meeting house. I got the heebie-jeebies so bad, I was very afraid. I told my companion about it and asked him for a blessing. After he gave me the blessing, I was never afraid of the devil again.
Over the years, I learned from experience how the devil uses our emotions against us, like fear to stop us from doing good things, and lust to get us to commit prohibited sexual acts and to steal, and anger and vengeance to get us to kill and destroy. I also learned by sad experience how the devil uses anger to possess us. When a person gets so angry that he loses control, the demons are there to take control. It's happened to me more than once in my life. Fortunately, as soon as a person takes back control the demons have to leave, but we have to bear the responsibility for the havoc they caused while they possess us, because we let them do it. I have since learned that whenever people lose control, for any of a variety of reasons, the demons can step in to take control. Substance addiction and most mental heath problems are symptoms of demon possession. Homosexuality and transgenderism are symptoms of demon possession caused by pedophilia.
I wish I had known all this when I was in my first marriage. My wife at the time, became very angry and got possessed of the devil. I had not yet learned how to discern evil spirits and I had never had the experience of casting out demons, so I did not realize she was demon possessed until after she had kicked me out of the house and we were separated. I was over visiting her one day, and she got very angry with me and I turned around and left the house. As I was walking away, she yelled out, "Don't you walk away from me." I turned around and I saw the devil himself standing in her laughing at me and he said to me, "I have got her now, and you cannot have her," If I had know then what I know now, I would have cast the devil out and I might have been able to save my marriage. It was not until years later that I learned to discern demon possession and the Lord told me it was time for me to start exercising the priesthood to cast out the demons. I have been casting out demons ever since.
There are rules governing spirits. One rule is that God does not force anybody into hell unless they have pacts with the devil and their sins are against God himself, like a religious leader who has a pact with the devil and his actions bring many people into bondage to the devil, like the false prophets who set up graven images. When a person sins, he is in captivity to the devil. When people die in their sins, the devil can drag those people down to hell, but he does not always exercise that option. Many of the dead, who have been in the devil's service in life, he allows to continue working for him among the wicked people who are in government and religious power. Because God cannot force anybody into hell, many people who have died in ignorance, continue to haunt the earth after they are dead, not knowing that if they listen to the angels, they can repent and go to a higher level of existence to wait for the resurrection.
When Jesus organized the angels during the three days his body was dead, the job of the angels was to give a choice to the dead spirits to repent or go to hell. Because of that, many people do not let the angels talk to them and they keep haunting the earth. Demon spirits, those spirits who followed Lucifer from before the foundation of the world, have no restrains. Because they have no physical sins to repent of they cannot be bound down to hell. They can be cast out of a person, but they can just go and look for another body to possess. You might find this interesting. People who have drug and alcohol addictions will be possessed by demons while they are getting high, but when they go to sleep, they demons leave and never feel the torment of withdrawal or the hangover the next day.
Anyway, since finding out all this information, it has become part of my ministry to cast out spirits wherever they belong. Every night, before going to sleep, by the authority of the priesthood, I tell dead spirits they cannot haunt anymore and to listen to the angels and repent or I will cast them down to hell. Then I wait a few minutes and cast the dead spirits who decide not to repent, down to hell. Then I cast the demon spirits that come into my jurisdiction into outer darkness, and let me tell you, I get rid of one batch and by the next evening there is a new batch to cast out and there is still a lot more spirits out there. I can see the change in the world. I started this before the pandemic, when it seemed like the demons were taking over the world, but since I started doing this, I have seen the tide change and the people are waking up and the demons and dead spirits do not have the same power they used to have. They are still there and it would be nice if other priesthood holders would do the same thing I do every night. The idea is to get the unrepentant and demon spirits off the earth so the missionaries can do their work with less opposition and so the earth will be prepared for the second coming. Jesus was born into a demon possessed world. He is not coming back until most of the demons are gone and the unrepentant are in hell.

This might sound like an odd question, but since we as Latter Day Saints know that the soul of man is body+spirit combined, how do medications affect these spirits? Has study and experience around the world suggested that pharmaceuticals help these spirits detach from us or to dive deeper to latch on harder?

    • @latterdaypresentations

That's a great question. There are good reasons to believe that some medications can affect the body/spirit bond, and even affect our ability to feel God's spirit. I had a personal experience with that years ago. In the book I referenced in the video, they said that spirits find openings to the psyche in situations where people are dividing the mind/body connection through drug use.

I have always found it interesting that they called alcohol "spirits" sometimes. I find often there is much truth in advertising even subtle words convey truths. Alcohol and drugs affect the person often in same ways. So, it makes you wonder if anything pushed by the world as a "'cure" is good. There are a lot of old quotes from Joseph Smith and Brigham Young about the use of doctors and their cures. How people should rely on the herbs the Lord gave us and then turn to the priesthood power for a blessing. I could say more, but I fear I may have said too much.

As far as scriptural knowledge about the spirit world is concerned, we do receive rest, for the righteous souls, even from evil spirits. We retain our personality, but it is not a place where Satan's followers have any further influence. However, if we have an unrighteous/unrepented desire , that DESIRE can remain until we are able to work that out- like swearing, for instance. But I cannot believe that Satan's emmisaries can still have influence over us after this life if we are in the Spirit World. There are veils between the two worlds, and they cannot pass. Spirit Prison? Well, that's a new subject allrogether. I firmly believe that they can in that place, as that is their jurisdiction.

  • @charinabottae
    @charinabottae 3 месяца назад +2

In the book "You Are Receiving Revelation", the author makes a well reasoned and scripturally supported argument that our spirit receives messages from the adversary (or his followers) in the same way and mode that we receive messages from the Holy Ghost. Same energy, same modality, just different messages. Ever wonder why we almost instantly begin to doubt a prompting? Spirits can hear spiritual messages, and quickly begin to counter the promptings of the HG.
IFS is very interesting, but loses me in practice when the therapist begins to speak to the various parts as if there are multiple separate personalities within the individual, rather than recognizing different facets of a single psyche.

General COnference is just that-general and is supposed to be that way. We are to ask, seek, and knock for ourselves, not be spoon fed. It is one of the most beautiful things I have learned-that I must deep dive at the banquet, and not expect others to feed me. As I search, ponder and ask, personal revelation reveals the truths deeply hidden within the scriptures and talks. Truly, nothing is hidden. Studying then becomes electrifying, exciting, and revelatory. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is beautiful and all encompassing!

The link between the mind/spirit and body health is a well documented one. Distress caused by a negative spirit could easily create disease in the body.

In the Journal of Discourses Brigham Young states that evil spirits cause all illness/disease. I didn't believe it for a long time and felt bad because I didn't believe a Prophet. But experience has changed my mind. The evil spirit disrupts the normal action of a body part. When a person receives a blessing for healing, and the person is healed, the evil spirit leaves taking the disruption with it. I've received instant healing from blessings in the past and all returns to normal instantly. Miracles.

One possibility floated by Richard Swartz, the instigator of IFS (who is, in the interest of full disclosure, neither a member of the Church of Jesus Christ nor even a believer in any sort of religion, so far as I know). He says that parts can "push on" existing physical weaknesses & vulnerabilities. They may not necessarily *create* the original illness (though I personally believe this could happen, Schwartz doesn't go that far), they can exacerbate it and make it worse. An example he gave is if he is nervous or stressed or afraid, his asthma sometimes will act up even if he isn't around a lot of dust. But also, even after having done parts work on himself, he will still get asthma in a dusty room. So he still has some asthma, but much less if he is managing his parts well.
More dramatically, in cases of multiple personality disorder, medically documented cases have shown individuals when one personality is manifested will have diabetes or nystigmatitus (lazy eye), whereas other personalities will not exhibit these very same symptoms.

Do you have any thoughts or content related to the difference between being physically afflicted versus spiritually afflicted after we die? It’s said that we will be afflicted by spirits who afflict us now but does that include physical ailments as well? All of us deal with physical affliction to some degree or another no matter how righteous we are. Brigham Young was also quoted as saying that All physical ailments are rooted in the power of the adversary. In other words, what kind of spirits will maintain control over a person even after they have passed away?

The adversary is a being of chaos, and fallenness is mainly just chaos. Illnesses are generally a product of that fallenness that characterizes our world, which Satan promotes as the ideal.

That's a really good question. I can't personally identify the difference, but I do know of people whose multiple personalities (dissociative identity disorder, or DID) has been healed through priesthood blessings.
But DID is not the same as schizophrenia. DID involves multiple parts/personalities that come to dominate the psyche, whereas schizophrenia is a "split" from basic reality. There are IFS practitioners who go so far as to say that multiple personalities is the norm, that DID is just a manifestation of parts. I suggest that is going too far, and that there should be a distinction made between ordinary parts that don't completely hijack a person's psyche, versus the DID situation where they do.

I wonder if we can, when we're free of our mortal bodies, visit the moon? We won't be encumbered by gravity or distance. On Earth we love our fast and beautiful cars and motorcycles. We keep them washed, polished and in good working condition, and we show them off every chance we get. We also choose friends and associates who encourage us in these hobbies.
Then we die. And suddenly we discover our earthly love interest in these vehicles were simply toys, and are no longer relevant. In fact, if we become so attached to our earthly possessions-our cars, guns, wealth, tablets, movies, communications-all those things can act as tethers that will distract us in the world to come.
In mortality, we were wealthy. We had these “things” that made us so. Now in the Spirit World, what do we have? Where's our stuff? Where are our clothes? Where do we stay? Are we as wealthy there as we were here? No wonder we fear death. We fear change. Get a new job? Change. Go through a divorce? Change. Now death? The ultimate change!
Then we discover we'll be judged. Wow. Three o'clock at the Hall of Justice for an intensive life review, where everything you experienced on Earth will be examined in the tiniest detail. And all those memories you went to therapy to forget now will be displayed in ultra-high 3D definition.

Self-seeking is the tool of psychotherapy. It is trying to find happiness and fulfillment by turning our attention inward to ourselves, analyzing ourselves, pleasing ourselves. I don't think your presentation does that directly, but what little I've read of IFS certainly does this. IFS therapists persuade their subjects to speak to these parts of ourselves. Given that these parts may actually be the "...devils, or the evil spirits that dwell in the hearts of the children of men," (Mosiah 3:6) it would be better to have Jesus cast them out than to speak to them and integrate them into our selves.

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me. 26 And now for a man to take up his cross, is to deny himself all ungodliness, and every worldly lust, and keep my commandments. 27 Break not my commandments for to save your lives; for whosoever will save his life in this world, shall lose it in the world to come. 28 And whosoever will lose his life in this world, for my sake, shall find it in the world to come. 29 Therefore, forsake the world, and save your souls; for what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? My 2 favorite statements in the Quran are to put oral agreements in writing (so wise), and I do love the description of the righteous and honest receiving "gardens with rivers flowing beneath," as described repeatedly in the Quran.

I like some of the points you are making here, but i don't believe we have to have a deep intellectual study (14:00) to believe in or understand the spirit world. In fact mingling the gospel with the philosophy of men will more than likely lead us away from it.
Stalwart and practiced faith are the prime requisite, not intellectualism.

I agree to some extent. My presentation is just an attempt to make sense of different sources of information and different things we observe.

That’s not what OP was saying - he was saying if you want to read the book he is using, that would require discipline and intellectual rigor.

@tvsnow. No. He was talking about the entire "subject". See my timestamp.
Nowhere in the scriptures do prophets require you to have a deep intellectual study to learn of these things.

@@fightingfortruth9806all that is really required is obedience. the rest comes naturally as we keep obeying and working towards becoming like Christ. I know more now than I ever did as a teenager. Obedience brings greater light and truth as we seek-search, ponder and pray. I will say that the greater the intelligence, the more capable a person might be and perhaps even more useful to the lord, but it is not necessary for our salvation. receiving and keeping our covenants-obedience-is necessary.

@@sandrahurst4123 I agree 100% about our salvation. Latter Day Presentations however is doing a righteous service for those of us who are having a real fight with evil spirits who are determined to remove us from our dedicated service to Jesus Christ. We're in the last of the last days and the war is real and it's been escalated. If you or anyone isn't yet afflicted by this evil, you are most blessed. But anyone who is having the problem, the information given in this Latter Day Presentation is MOST helpful and it hit my nail right on the head. It's been an answer to fasting and prayer. Now I just need to know how to apply it safely and effectively. But that answer will come with more fasting and prayer. I ask "fighting" and any others in doubt, "Have you prayed about it?"

Brigham definitely was mistaken on a number of things, but he was 100% correct on other things. I did a presentation on fallibility here: ruclips.net/video/DWulheYclbg/видео.html

That's a very narrow worldview that denies a massive amount of observable reality. At minimum, I recommend you read Craig Keener's book Miracles.
