I've just started the tedious process reorganizing my sewing supplies for the first time in ages. I've even been searching all over for inspiration on how best to go about it, I'm seeing this video just in time! What a coincidence!
Your storage looks so aesthetic! A while ago I donated some older fabrics that I wasn't going to use, because I was running out of space. Now a local school is using them as tablecloths and as craft material. Looking forward to the vintage pattern project!
excited to see all your fabric stash-bashing projects ! (also, don’t worry about videos like this being boring, I think cleaning/organizing videos are SO satisfying and this was exactly what I needed)
The rolled fabric technique is so nifty! I like organizing videos, sewing supply tour videos, and other things like them so this is a nice relaxing watch. And I'm very intrigued by your secret projects!
I just moved, and had to pack away all my crafting supplies! As laborious as it was, I look forward to reorganizing everything. I’m sure it will spark some inspiration in me as well, since I’ll be going through everything I’ve got.
I too thought it was interesting. I have the exact cubby, yet i use the grey dollar store bins to fold & store the fabric upright so I can see them. I do like the idea of rolling & pinning though, if I pull from the overstuffed bins it undoes everything... I do wonder if rolling takes up ever so slightly more space if they're in the bins... I have to contain the whole collection in the cubby, as it's covertly in a living area. the fabric that I have TOO much of, I fold them and use them as decorative table/top runners to protect surfaces until use.
I think this video is very exciting for ANY crafty person who wants to peek at your hoard of fabric, and take any notes on how you chose to store it. We all have a hoard of stuff haha
If you don't like that the closet is open, you can add a tension rod with some curtains to make a "door." Super cost effective and renter friendly way to spruce up the space!
It doesn’t bother me *too* much, but I just feel like, logically, there should be a door there? Maybe a slider? My house was originally a single family home that was (poorly) renovated into a duplex, and there are a lot of little oddities that I could go on and on about. It’s a true landlord special.
Another idea if you have an overwhelming amount of fabric. Donate your cottons/mostly cotton blends to your local quilt guild. Most do at least one charity project with donated fabric at any given time. If you want to go a step farther pre-wash and cut your fabric into standard square units. 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, etc.
I'm going to move in the next year and planning out having some more space for crafts and sewing so thank you for giving a lot of inspiration in this video!!! Also score at getting free fabric! I've just had a lovely woman donate her earring making supplies and I cried for hours when I saw how lovely and sweet it all was.
I always love watching your videos and get excited when you post! your projects are so unique and i love seeing what you come up with! Watching videos like this are also super entertaining to me, not only because organizing stuff is super satisfying to watch, but because it kinda gives a sneak peak on future projects in a way. (Btw i love that fluffy pink fabric on the bottom shelf, and the fact that you got that much denim is a steal) Hope you have a good day, and im happy that you were able to get so much good fabric for free! :•)
I've acquired a lot of fabric during a short amount of time, really too much, but what I've done is that I've stacked the majority of it in a cardboard box and I used a cardboard square as a template so that I can fold all of the fabric into almost the exact same size w/o thinking too much. I've also done a similar thing with my smaller fabric scraps, only I've put them in a shoe box. I put a bunch of sachets filled with lavender so that bugs don't start hanging out there.
This is so inspirational! Def gonna start rolling my fabric, can't believe it never occured to me seeing how I roll my clothes when I pack a suitcase. Also love the smart little boxes for supplies, mine are soooo messy
I recently went through my massive fabric (and craft) stash too, so this was super relatable! I love the idea of rolling fabric to store it as well. The final reveal was so perfectly organized and beautiful ✨
Oof, I feel guilty about how much I have now lol.. I have a giant bin each of just minky (I make weighted plushies on commission) and just cotton prints (dice bags mostly, but I have a small problem with buying a yard of ones I can't resist...), a third of fabrics I got especially to make clothes for myself, then... Like.... 5/6 printer paper boxes of fabric that was given to me when my grandma in law cleared her own stash. Oh, and a cabbage/tiny prints box for baking doll clothes. And several tiny hat boxes of trims... I REALLY need to go through it all. 😅 Unfortunately I haven't been able to sew properly in over a year... I have fibromyalgia and on top of that pain developed carpal tunnel syndrome in BOTH wrists as well as ulnar nerve issues. I had surgery on my right hand in May and now that it's pretty much healed I need to get the left done. 😭 Cross your fingers for me that I'll be able to work again soon!! Also I have a pattern collection, with a lot that are vintage, because I like preserving them and looking at the art. Almost 600! I keep them in acid free comic storage so that the jackets don't further destroy the pattern paper itself.
This kind of video makes me feel motivated, without the usual ADHD hiperactive-ness that it usually conveys to, but relaxing me instead, since it allows me to see someone else's progress and little everyday-life achievements, thank you for this! I wished they did that thing of the "free" little scraps of clothing here, mom said they usually used to do it, but now they simply are so greedy thay they start to charge for them is small fabric stores😢 I will have to travel to bigger ones and see if they didn't started to apply those arbitrary greedy rules, so i could get some cute scraps for my own projects too, because all i am lacking is that, not the ideas or space of what to do with them.
omg i never knew you went to school for costuming too :0 i can’t remember if i started watching your videos before or after i started majoring in costumes but here we are! both dreaming about and dreading the inevitable vastness that my sewing stash will eventually reach 😭
My sewing supplies are currently stored in a set of drawers and my fabrics are stored in cloth bags. This means I have no idea how much fabric I actually have, I just know it's way too many bags and I need to stop thrifting more of it... 😅
For me my fabric stash is full of cottons and a few knits, but I swear it takes up all the space to the point I don’t know where to put it all. I have a cubby full and a large tote, plus some more on top. 😅 but I don’t use it all because I need trims and lace so it’s just waiting till I can sew them up!

Good luck ^-^
Morgan Donner is another youtuber who has a couple really nice organization video

Just started the video, LOVE the combination of the sports bear dress + that collar
I actually wasn’t sure about how well they went together at first!

Thank you for the rolling tip! Now I have some space on my fabric shelf!
Rolling the fabric looks and sounds like a good idea!!!! I’m going to have to try that when I organize my stash!
I LOVE storage vidoes! It helps me figure out ways to store my stash!

It looks so neat now
I clicked this notification so fast. I love organizing videos. I am so using the roll and pin method for my fabric later.
I will literally never go back to any other fabric storage method

this was def inspiring for me in sorting my craft supplies and fabric - thank you for sharing!

that was really calming. thank you. 😇
can't wait to see what u make with all the new fabric!!
I use the rolled method too, except instead of safety pins I just tie it up with strips of scrap knit fabric.
I'm nosey I love seeing stashes 😂 also RUclips hasn't shown me your videos in months now I have a few to catch up on
I love Secrets ✨💕🥺
love a good organizing vid
Hey sister you have done a way better job of organization than I have. I have a whole separate room for my separate stuff.
I have the same pop screen (and microphone) and I feel your struggle so much! 😒
Where did you get/how did u make that collar ur wearing? Its SO cute
I just used a collar from one of my patterns and added a neckband ^-^
woah i thought my fabric scraps/stash is a problem already
me watching this as if my yarn, fabric, and other supplies aren't tangled betwixt 3 bags
