I requested a tool organizer on wheels for my birthday 5 years ago. My husband didn’t understand why and I explained it. Craft storage was expensive and wasn’t big enough. I had a small tackle box, but needed more room. I received the requested trolly with three compartments and bought a fourth. It carries my travel sewing machine on the bottom, small projects and such in the next one, mid size accessories in the next, the top had two trays that hold my cutters, 6” ruler, and such and 8 smaller trays that hold pins, blades, needles, and such. I received many compliments from fellow sewists and amazement at my idea. I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one to see the practicality of toolboxes. I also use the little cabinets with the little drawers for my hardware and such. I also have two Billy bookcases in my closet that holds fabrics and projects, love them.
I have two different large tool chests. One rolling one with a wood top that I use for my cutting table and storing resin supplies (glitter in the top drawer, resin in the tall drawer, molds in the thin drawers, and stuff like picture frames/add ins in the deeper but not huge drawers). The other is a top box I got on a good deal when my local big box home improvement store was clearing out the previous years models to make room for the new years ones (actually got two one for me in the craft room one for my husband in the garage) and I have it on a table top. Since the top opens up I have my 3D printer on it and my Sillhouette cameo then all the vinyl is stored in the drawers, HTV on one side PSV on the other. My sublimation printer is on a rolling cart I got from walmart on black friday and I use the large photo storage boxes that have the smaller boxes inside for grouping sewing items like zippers, tassels, and such by color on the bottom shelves. My heat presses are on a baker's rack from amazon which gives me storage for cups/mugs below and a small shelf on top for random less needed items. I've been keeping an eye out for a deal on a bottom box to put the top one on since that space is kinda wasted right now anyway but it's not a top priority at the moment.
I am a cookie decorator and use the tackle box to store my many cookie decorating tips. Used a label maker to label the sizes in the mini drawers. The top holder for the couplers and scissors for cutting the decorating bags.
Very good ideas! Makes me want to go antiquing and to the 2nd hand places(like I need a excuse!) I have found some really nice cabinets with the old heavy glass that just needed alittle cleaning up..and bookcases too! If you have some free time go walk around a antique or 2nd hand shop its so relaxing and you will find treasures! Oh and make sure you know someone that has a truck cuz its probably not gonna fit in you car! Keep those videos coming!❤ them! Thanks!
New here! But, one thing I love is rolling carts! I have one just like yours, and, I bought one that is, I think, called 'baker's rack'. On that one, the four posts just stick up a bit (the way I put the shelves on). I cut a piece of plywood and on three of the corners just took my jigsaw and cut the corners out in a semi circle to fit around the posts. On the fourth post, I put the hole all the way so the post is surrounded by the plywood. Then I put batting around it, then Insulbright (the stuff you put in the center of potholders), then a layer of flannel, all stapled around it, and voila! My rolling ironing board. (The flannel has gotten somewhat dirty, and I can't find my old boiled wool jackets - so I may try wool if I can find something at the Salvation Army, but the flannel works fine). I can also take the board off and put it next to the sewing machine. On the other two shelves I have plastic rectangular buckets and other organizational things. My iron sits upright in one with the cord in the same bucket. Spray starch, etc., also get rolled around with it. I'm a quilter, so lots of pressing! Also, my husband is a diesel mechanic and is in the process of retiring. I happened to mention a woman who had a regular (but smaller than his big Mac tool box) like Harbor Freight toolbox in her sewing room and that I thought it was a cool idea. Well, he had one that he was going to give away! I cleaned it up, and am going to unscrew the doo-dads that make it so the lid has to be open to open the drawers. That safety feature is a pain. Thanks for the great video - I love your style!
I have a kitchen cart that I use for my heat press and then another, wider one that I use for the xTool S1 laser! SO NICE. I really wish I could just line the walls with bookshelves sometimes though.
@@fiercekittenz I know, right? I'm one of those who live hours from an Ikea, but, I have a whole array of tools. My 'medium' is plywood and 2 x 4's, LOL!
Especially nowadays that makeup and influencers are so elaborate, I'm finding a LOT of nifty storage intended to hold a large volume of skin care products.. I've got a rotating clear round open caddy for smaller bottles of media (embossing powders, etc), plus a bougie art deco looking one that is the best I've found for my larger and kind of unhomed mixed media supplies. I've got a learning disability where unless my items are a bit categorised and orderly it's a lot of work to have to engage with tools, sounds pretty normal I guess, but it's been a lifelong struggle and I finally learnt A5 six-ring binders clear everything up for me. After getting a lot of practice working within the constraints of that size, I've found that is the packet size I wind up producing for myself now. I've tried other standard sizes of binders for organisation over the years, and nothing works for my neurodivergent brain quite like the A5.
I’ve been wanting the large chests ( about 5ft) for mechanics and woodworkers, my husband bought him self one, and I drooled over it. He has the tall ones with plugins and usb ports. Unfortunately my sewing room is not big enough. It has multiple large drawers and the top opens up for more storage, and the plugins etc.
I know right!! I room is in the basement...I will not move something like that down there. I'll wait until I move. Large tool boxes and an industrial embroidery machine....I settled for an Elna 970 that I could carry down. the struggle is real!
I make a LOT of different things! I have hyper focus ADHD so you may see me fixate on something for a bit in my content - like lasers. I’ve been learning more and more about lasers and loving it enhancing my handmade product offerings. I also machine embroider and sew handbags and doll clothes!
I bought the Husky adjustable height work bench from Home Depot for my cutting table. Love it. It has casters so I can move it around and work on different sides. There are 2 large drawers, one I use for my rulers.
great ideas! I also have one of those plastic crafter's tool chests i think i got it from Michaels years ago. it's full of jewelry crap i don't use anymore so this is a good reminder for me to declutter and reorganize! I have two Ikea Kallax bookshelves. i like the shelves but they don't have the backing that the Billy bookcase does.
A lot of great ideas! January is organization month, so you can guess what I will be doing! lol! I think the crafter's tackle box would be a great idea for organizing zipper pulls as well! Thanks for another great video! :)
What about your smaller spools of thread? Over Christmas I completely unloaded my workroom to repaint and I really do not want to put the racks of thread holders back on the wall (wooden dowel racks). I'd like to put some art that refreshes creativity, not work, lol. Any creative ways to store my threads where I can see them to choose colors but NOT see them every time I enter my workroom? (not to mention they are dust collectors) I enjoyed your video very much! I'll have to hit up my local IKEA!
I like and want a tool chest as it appeals to my organisation, but I also really like my stuff out as organised decor…. so I guess I’ll stick with all my pretty pegboards on the wall…. Also, tool chests are too expensive in NZ… wish we had cheaper shops 😶 But I loved the video! TFS!
I have three in my room. One is HUGE and pricey but it's for my PC and work laptop. That's an Uplift desk (8ft wide! ~$1200). The one I'm using for the cutting table is a 55" wide Steelcase (~$700). My sewing machines are sitting on a less sturdy, but reliable Flexispot (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B74WTNQX/ ~$250). ALTERNATIVELY you could look at the ones that crank and don't have motorized lift/lower. Lots of people use the Husky workbenches from Home Depot/Lowes.
I have shelving from Home Depot in a corner off-camera. I just stack it there. I USED to have it set on the bottommost shelf of an IKEA Billy bookcase - set up like books.
So I'm in the house my parents' left me for another 18 months until I can sell. And then... I shall have a craft room that isn't all ticky tackied together. I just shot the Dream Box/sew station over the my guy. And said....I WILL have this. I won't buy now because it simply won't fit here...nothing that's actually useful fits here lol...and I'm currently using basement space. I won't move it down and the back up....just have it delivered to the new place. IKEA....every year we attend a trade show and drive the expressway....right....past....IKEA. I ride by with my nosed pressed against the glass. Its two plus hours away and IKEA doesn't deliver. I shall walk the hallowed aisles of IKEA someday! Thank for the ideas....I get to dream of the new room in another 18 months. It shall be.
Love the Billy bookcases. Have several. Don't know if it's true, but I read that, because the Billy design has been around so long, Ikea has, essentially, perfected it. Their quality control may have improved over the years, but I tend to stay away from new models from IKEA.
In general, I agree. I don't go for the new stuff. We had a lot more Billy bookcases before moving from TX to NC, but I only kept the white ones. The others were the birch finish. I try to get all white furniture for my crafting room so the light bounces around better.
It came in that color! Kobolt also carries a mini tool chest that comes in more colors but it is VERY small. Almost useless IMHO but would be cute next to sewing machines to hold some basic tools. I just use mugs for that though.
It's a strong double-sided tape that is mostly used for leatherwork. It won't wash out, so don't use it for garments, but it's GREAT for holding down vinyl and tough pieces you can't exactly chuck a pin through.
I use tool boxes and vintage jewelry boxes to store my jewelry making supplies 👍🏽

I love the tool chest idea! Great organization.
It’s so basic but oh so useful once you put the plastic trays inside!
Your hair looks amazing!
Had to stop right at the beginning for the video and figure out what your shirt meant. You are so funny…. ;)

LOVE this! It's very FUNctional and practical. HAPPY almost New Year! 🙂
I am living for this thumbnail. Happy new year Fierce x
I have tool boxes like men have in there shops love them but I have a very large sewing room
Oh HECK yeah! In my workshop (the one where I keep the other lasers and my industrial Ricoma Marquee) I have 2 big workbenches by Husky.
Best time to get organizational tools is either in January or in March for Spring Cleaning. That is when the best sales are.

In regards to your fabric storage, I purchased large clear totes from the dollar store and folded the fabric so I could quickly see what I had.
That's what I put my overflow fabric in!
Thank you
I was just looking at adjustable tables today for a cutting table! What type do you have and how do you like it olease?

Harbor Freight is a good place for craft storage supplies
Hi - I know this is an organization video but I’ve spotted your heat press. Could you provide a link to that? I may need that…
Yes! It's the HTVRont Auto Heat Press: www.amazon.com/HTVRONT-Auto-Press-Machine-Shirts/dp/B0B6GTVZFH/ (not affiliate)

You mentioned leather tape. What is that please?
It's a strong double-sided tape that is mostly used for leatherwork. It won't wash out, so don't use it for garments, but it's GREAT for holding down vinyl and tough pieces you can't exactly chuck a pin through.
