Hi Roger - you’ve really hit it out of the park with this video!! Your commentary is in the one hand so well thought out and articulate; and on the other, so emotive and inspiring. The cinematography and editing are off the charts. You’re in league with Chris Harris! In the States, there is a schism within the Porsche community between those who enjoy their cars by way of driving them and those who enjoy their cars by way of their pristine low mileage. As the caretaker of a 196,000 mile, modified track worthy 964, I’m happy to hear you promote driving Porsches assiduously rather keeping them as concours queens or investment instruments. Final thought - please consider doing a video comparing the driving experience of your 992 GT3 with a 996 GT3. I’d love to hear / see your thoughts on how they’re different and excel in their own ways.
Thanks David, your idea about a 993 GT3 is worth thinking about, I featured a 996 GT3RS some time ago which I recall feeling less forgiving & more analogue.
@@RogerBaileyOnCars Roger - I think the 996 GT3 is still under appreciated (and under valued). A good friend of mine has a ‘78 911 and a 2004 996 GT3. He has been seduced away from the driving experience of the 911 by the GT3. I would value your analysis of the 2 in a way I would value that of Chris Harris. You and Chris have a unique ability to be both very real, thoughtful and very articulate all at the same time.
Just seeing your GT3 at Oulton Park was extremely exciting. I tried to imagine what it would be like to drive? Thanks to your wonderful video I now know. Glad you are enjoying your amazing GT3. An absolutely stupendous sports car. Fantastic!
Just catching up - great filming - vey pro-fesh-nil - such a wow car. I drove the 992 C4S pdk on track and road - and that was amazing. Golf GTI one miniute, racer the next. I love a manual. But the PDK is so annoyingly sensationally good, it doesn’t even need manual changes - it just knows what gear. It’s uncanny. Thanks for sharing.
So pleased you got one of these Roger. The only problem is now every future Porsche will be, great but I miss my GT3! Hope you manage to keep it for many years ahead! Keep up the great content sir!
Awesome car. The engineering that goes into allowing a big 4.0 lt rev to 9,000 rpm reliably and durably, is testimony to the excellence of Porsche. I wonder what the piston speed at 9k is. Congratulations on your purchase and its good that you are enjoying it.
This is an excellent point ... It's curious that I never hear anyone talk about the fact that the GT3 being a 6 cylinder that revs to 9000 rpm is more impressive and difficult than making a 12 or 8 cylinder of the same size rev to 9000. The difference being the cylinder size of course. The 6 cylinder has bigger cylinders at the same engine size so it has a longer stroke. A longer stroke means that the piston speed is higher in the 6 cylinder. For example the 3.9 liter V12 in the upcoming Murray T50 has a redline of 12,000 rpm. This is impressive also an it will no doubt be a brilliant engine but the GT3 surely has an even higher piston speed because the stroke is so much longer. Kudos to Porsche for keeping the brilliant traditional 6 cylinder 911 engine and making rev all the way to 9000!!
A great video thank you Roger. It’s a pleasure to see you really enjoying your car. I look forward to seeing more of your 992 being used as Porsche intended.

Great review. Very well spoken Roger. I had a GT3 RS in 2011 and never learned to appreciate it properly. The high reviving engine is certainly a delight. I have had a GT4 for 6 years and, while at a very different price point, it also keeps giving to the driver, and wants to be driven.

This is a naturally aspirated six? So what’s the difference between this 4.0L and the new Boxster GTS 4.0L engine?
4.0 GTS engine is modified from the 3.0 Carrera engine - turbos removed. GT3 engine is a different engine, its the Cup race car engine with titanium internals dry sump etc. they feel quite different from each other.
Love to hear your thoughts on driving the GT3 vs the Spyder.
GT3 is a weapon particularly on track, Spyder more civilised on B roads. GT3 needs to rev, Spyder pulls hard from low revs.
Wish there was a full UK sized reg plate on the front, would look so much more uniform (not complaining)
its just one telling off from pc plod away.
@@RogerBaileyOnCars Didn't mean from a legal perspective, just cosmetic :)
Worth the additional $$ over the 718 spyder??
a different experience - yes I'd say so
you are a lucky man to be able to afford this car
this is true
can you pop in to a Porsche dealership, show your configuration and order it do you think?
the first two parts of your question you certainly can, not so simple ordering one.
@@RogerBaileyOnCars what do you mean by ' not so simple'
@@RogerBaileyOnCars so someone can not just pop in show the configuration and order one
@@abrahimleawal9502 no not this model, dealers are allocated two or three per year and have 100 or more people wanting to buy them meaning that the manager has to choose who can have one, you have to have previously bought several cars from them to be considered.
@@RogerBaileyOnCars is that how you also acquired this beautiful car?
I just think it’s best to keep the original DVLA assigned numberplate rather than put a rubbish 992 plate on it yourself …. Nice car though
