    You nailed it, John. The good, the bad and the ugly about this tank. Also the massive mystery as to how this kit made it to retail sales with such an obvious design flaw.
    I like the built in lights as a gimmick but I’ve never used any of them other than to initially try them out. They only seem to be good for short term atmospheric viewing and nothing long term. I’ll stick with indirect sunlight and grow lamps for that.
    With minimal modifications, this tank could be re-released, renamed and repackaged into a decent product. Sadly, it either won’t happen or it will take so long I’ll be long dead and buried.
    Thanks for the shout out as well. I’m always happy to help support your endeavors where I can.
    Like you, I’m curious to read other people’s opinions on this tank. Is it worth reconfiguring and re-releasing or just scrap it and move on.
    Another great video. - Tod
    PS: I can always tell when you’ve mastered a new video-editing technique. The large “GIVEAWAY” text coming in behind you was a nice touch.

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  Год назад +13

      Thanks Tod! A few people have mentioned that they think this may have been a modified and repurposed mould, because those horizontal lines down the bottom may represent liquid fill lines. I’m still not sure what their function is 😅
      Glad you enjoyed the video though, and I’m super impressed you noticed the new editing technique! It took me a good half hour to learn how to do that, and it’s still not quite right 😂 I’ll get better at it with time.
      Thanks again for helping me get my hands on this tank to review for the channel. Feels good to have another one ticked off - now on to the next 📹

    • @khills
      @khills Год назад +2

      I think this would have some benefit if it was refitted to allow a small heater and air line thru the lid, rather than the double lid and light. Or build the lights around the hole (which should be wide enough for both lines needed for heat and air). Modify the lights a little so that you can have a light show OR grow lights? You could have a really nifty all-in-one unit for someone who what’s to do it right.

That searchlight is also an awesome addition that I've noticed a lot of tanks don't have. I know in my future I plan on creating a huge sea monkey colony that has a cat themed tank.

    No but, the first thing I have to say is WHY ARE THE SEA MONKEYS SO CUTEEE!! Those cute little eyes and feathery fins are soo pretty to look at!! And about the whole adventure tank, compared to the smaller ones , I love the large size of the container and it seems more safe to me to handle. Plus I personally love those magnified blobs on the body because it is real fun to watch the sea monkeys from that view. Also I like that air pumper for dissolving the salts rather than just stirring it viciously. But above all, this whole adventure tank is so pretty and beautiful, the colours, the sea monkeys, the design everything! And I loved your video on how you explained every detail, loved every bit of it, also I came to know a lot ! Thanks a lot!! Keep it up!

    I haven't owned sea monkeys before but I've been very interested in them lately as I had to leave my fish tank with my family when I moved, so I feel like it's a unique way to experience a similar thing with a bit more convenience than you'd have with a massive fish tank. I definitely agree that I think the light feature would be cooler if you could pick a light, or maybe even modify the light so it could help the algae growth instead of just being aesthetically nice. I think this tank is interesting because I could see maybe growing the sea monkeys in this sort of nursery set up and then getting them a bigger tank I could decorate on my own and promote more algae growth with more stuff. I'd love to see this tank with things like in the Japanese castle tanks, where there's molded plastic designs that algae can grow on!

Would love to see more on the different regional availabilities of tanks 😊

    I LOVE the Ocean Adventure Tank! All other issues aside I just want a bigger tank and I do like the look of it as a jar. Its pretty cute. I wonder if there is some way to modify the lids so that it could accommodate a line in for the air??? If they re-released it do you think they would add that into the lid design? They never seem very keen to make lids that would allow us to keep our sea monkeys for a long time. Still my favorite tank design of them all though.

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  Год назад +1

      It could be modified yeah, though the easiest way to do it would be cutting away at some of those air vents to make them a little larger to get the accessories through the hole. Tbh if this does get a reissue I doubt they’ll take accessories into consideration, they’ve never made those accommodations in the past but we can always keep our fingers crossed 🤞

    I actually really like the design of the Ocean Adventure tank, I feel like the cylindrical design would be nice to add in a feature (maybe a tall rock or some driftwood) for the artemia to swim round and play with. Totally agree with the light, I feel like if it strobed through the colours it'd be a lot more pleasing but the on-off is just a little distracting and could get annoying quickly (for both you and the sea monkeys!).

I also had the same issue with algae growth at first and I believe this is because there’s nothing for it to grab onto. I added a little mountain range with a few attached synthetic plants to mine and that seemed to be the solution! I think to make this tank even better if they do re-release it would be to add the iconic volcanic mountain range to the base, make the light with both battery or plug in options and give the light some different, customizable settings!

    Nice tank. I wish big tanks like this were more common, even if they require more salt.
    I've recently got a decent sized one from the "KOSMOS Saltwater Creatures" kit they sell here in Europe (not sure if its available elsewhere). It comes with a salt package much bigger than typical sea monkey envelopes and a lot of eggs (enough eggs for you to try hatching several different times.. I have used ~1/4 of the packet I think and it was enough to get my tank full of little baby artemia).

One thing I want to thank you for on your videos is having the captions on. I really appreciate being able to see the captions since I sometimes struggle with deciding what people are saying, so it's always great whenever I have the option for captions. Ta!

    Great thank. I always thought they needed to release a big one with 2 packets of eggs. A shame it’s cylindrical and not something more fun though. I think it needs a textured floor to help support algae though.
    Love to see the inclusion of a light on this tank.

    Only thing I can think of for the two sets of plastic lines at the bottom of the tank is that maybe it was designed to later clip into something bigger, or those were guidelines for where to put a decal? Otherwise maybe to catch the light from the lid and scatter it in a different way? 🤔

    I like the idea of the Ocean Adventure tank, but I feel terrible for any kids who couldn't get their kits started properly on that first go around.
    I agree about the light. It would be more practical and soothing to have a constantly on light that shifts colour (maybe dimming slightly?).
    I think an ocean adventure tank in the future could have something in the middle of the tank creating visual interest, like the Mars or Robo Diver tanks! Perhaps a coral structure, or some kind of 'plant'? Something to make it feel more adventurous.

    The Ocean Adventure tank has it's advantages just like you said! I love the volume. The lines on the bottom make no sense at all (I also don't like the distortion when viewing my monkey's ;) ). The double lids are redundant so I'd probably just use one or the other but only after my babies grew up as well as I also use the heating pads and low-set air-bubbler thanks to your tutorials and affiliate page! I've actually learned a TON from your channel so thank you so very much! This is my new favorite hobby. I've even made my first "sea monkey" video (comedy)! They are not easy to film for sure! I would definitely use the tank though! 🤗

      Larger pouches for bigger tanks is such a great idea! I know that years ago there used to be a jumbo sized Plasma III packet, though as far as I'm aware that's the only one they've ever made that was larger than the conventional packets.

I love its big size since I like to give my pets a lot of room to swim and the double wind design is pretty cool. I like the fact that it's bigger. But I don't like those lines you mentioned on the bottom of the tank. Also would be nice to have some more space to fit an airline and heater in through the lid. And having more control over the light. I think with some slight revisions it could be an excellent tank.

    Hi John,
    I am by no means an expert in aquatic life care, but I do understand that water chemistry is delicate and can be more difficult to maintain in smaller tanks. I wonder if moving to a larger tank design had this delicate balance in mind- but wasn’t cognisant of all the variables. I‘m still learning myself! Didn’t realise how important water chemistry can be!
    It sure is a very cool idea though, and I‘d love to see more larger (but better planned out) sea monkey habitats in the future!

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  Год назад +1

      Yeah larger tanks definitely have more stable water parameters, though water quality isn''t quite as important with brine shrimp as it is with fish, because brine shrimp have a really high tolerance to toxicity. I definitely think larger tanks are still a better way to go though 👍

    I think that it is definitely an interesting idea for a tank. Having a light, although not optimal, does seem like a nice addition. The shape of the tank is a cool look in my opinion, as it would fit with a lot of the vases and jars on my shelves. I think hiding the battery pack and switch is a good call, as it may not look as nice if it was always all hanging out.

After watching your videos for a while now they see so neat and I understand more about them. • @anie6142
    @anie6142 Год назад +1

    I missed the chance to get it last November from Wards and when I went to look for it online it was gone 😂. That's what I get for being indecisive. The two-lid system seems a bit unnecessary since the lid with the light has slits to allow for air circulation as well. Plus leaving the top lid could lead to condensation above the battery pack and that's a disaster waiting to happen. Overall I think it's a neat tank but it could certainly do with some sort of molded substrate on the bottom to allow for algae growth easier plus it is a bit plain, maybe the company will eventually sell micro accessories to decorate the tanks like mini plants or even furniture. If I get the chance to get this tank at some point I might put aquarium sand or thin gravel on the bottom plus fake plants to give it a livelier look. Great video and hope you have a great day 💜!
