@@rizzie8066 Yes!! 🎂
Thank you so much
You are cool😉
When my Seamonkeys turned two weeks old. I put a Goldfish in the bowl So they could play together. Didn't turn out to be fun for the monkeys. Goldfish had a blast.
Oh no!! Poor Sea Monkeys... at least you got a chance to witness the circle of life, lol!
Straight violence 😂
..
put a lion near a mouse and about the same thing will happen
Yikes😂😢
I had sea-monkeys as a kid. I am now in my 60’s, and I want to buy a sea- monkey kit!!!! Some things don’t change I guess! I find them fun and fascinating.
They haven't changed a bit, very nostalgic! Thanks for watching our video Maria!
Go for it. They're super fun to watch :)
Definitely buy them! They are so fascinating.
Waahh. I had got this as a christmas present when I was around 7. I was so excited because the pictures showed this whole sea monkey kingdom where there was a family and it evem showed them doing sports!! So i thought i was going to het this cool new family hahaha. Plus, i thought they would grow to be life size and i remember i was worried because the container was too small.
They grew for about 10 days when my mom accidently knocked them over my math book 😂 i cried so hard, and I remember that there were dead sea monkeys all over my book
That’s awful! RIP Sea Monkeys (and your math book!) 📖
HAD to buy the official aquarium, light, necklace ball to carry them around and the banana snack..😂
My mum also accidentally spilt mine :( can't believe you can actually see the eyes on day 30 here!!!!
My poor little Sea Monkeys never made it past day 8. My little sis overfed them when I wasn’t looking. Those poor little guys will always, *always* have a place in my heart....
Aww, that's a bummer Laura :( You could always try again!
Thanks for the heart! 4 months and still active on a video. Impressive!
Oh nu I hope they are in a better place now
Or u can feed her to the shrimps just saying
Fun fact, the eggs are actually in the first packet and the egg packet just has dye. The 24 hours is to let some hatch
Partially true. The second packet does contain more eggs. I used just that packet to refill the tank. Pack one just has some eggs yeah
Interesting! Thanks for enlightening us. We were wondering why it produced a bluish color when we poured in the egg packet. Weird.
No the second pack has more eggs the eggs in the first pack is to make it seem like they hatch instantly
@Brian Nicely it is true, just look at the patent.
Dude how big are the eggs because I went ahead and decided to smash the bigger bits of the “purifier” and now I’m like,, concerned lol did I accidentally kill some ?
Biggest con in childhood history. I was like 5 or 6 when I got these as a gift. I totally thought they were going to wear suits and tie while driving a Chevy to work. So disappointing.
LOL!! I thought they were going to do tricks! Looking back, those old magazine ads were hilarious, but definitely not accurate!
Nah. Biggest con had to be “X-Ray” glasses you could buy out of comic books :). But Sea Monkeys came in a close second.
@@KnoxParanormal 100% agreed! I fell for that aswell! They were not xray at all! :/
Nah! The BIGGEST con was the "money making machine!" The ads never said it was just a gag and you have to pre-load it with money first!
@@elteescat lol. I remember that.
I remember seeing Sea Monkey coupons in my comic books back when I was a lil kid in the mid 70's
Holy cow. I always read/heard about them but never saw it in person. Crazy to me that eggs sitting on a shelf in a little packet could turn into living creatures! Awesome video!
Isn't it amazing?! As I was watching the videos of the Sea Monkeys (actually brine shrimp) growing, I couldn't help but think of the wonder of God's awesome creation. Your kids might really enjoy Sea Monkeys too! Thanks for watching Bob :)
I’m 37 years old, I always wanted sea monkeys when I was a kid but my mum wouldn’t buy them for me, 2 days ago I saw them in the shop and immediately bought them 😅 they have hatched and still so tiny but my kids are enjoying watching them grow
That's wonderful!! We hope you enjoy your new little pets! Thanks for watching our video. Here's a link to our most recent Sea Monkey video, if you're interested: ruclips.net/video/Sm5rmqej70s/видео.html
I have had mine for 6yrs now, they die out but keep coming back to life, getting some more to re-plenise them, at moment have 3, ps, I am 60, you are never to old :)
Wow, that’s great!!
Apparently, the water purifier packet has more eggs in it than the actual egg packet 😂😂😂
They learned "tricks", how to play dead
LOL!! That's about it.
When you get an entire vial filled w just eggs, you can keep a longer cycle going. Had mine for a year or more as a kid
I loved these when I was a kid in the 70s! I'm 54 now and I just ordered some! I bought a 2 gallon light up tank with filter, the water conditioner, a tube of brine shrimp eggs and the brine shrimp food! So excited to have these again! God bless all!
Awesome! Good luck with your tiny new pets! 😊
@@Our80sLife Thank you for the inspiration!
i remember my cousin brought me a souvenir from the US almost 8 years back, which were sea monkeys. though i’m still a teenager, i still remember how fascinating it was. seriously!! i’ve never seen stuff like this in my whole life. i wish they’d sell it here in east asia!
xd
Toys R Us sometimes have them!
just go in your backyard and get some
I loved in the pictures how they had the sea monkeys dressed up with crowns and accessories 😂😂😂 awesome video I just relived my childhood 💕
Thanks for watching!! We love the old artwork as well, so fun! 😂
This product should be called killing sea monkeys, lol. I killed mine in like a week. Looks like yours are not just surviving, they are thriving!
Yes, we agree it's maybe not the best practice to market these as "pets" for children as they often aren't successful. Fortunately, this batch seems to be doing great!

This was marketing at its finest they used to depict a cool looking little colony of family sea monkeys and as a kid I would think this was going to be the coolest thing ever I was going to have a little family in my room and I could talk to them and everything. Needless to say I was greatly disappointed. That was my first lesson in marketing 101.
Same here!! I thought they were supposed to do tricks, sigh. Thanks for watching our video David!

Love the 80s synth wave intro plus the beautiful piano piece at the end of the video, I come back here often just to listen to the music.
Thank you! We’re glad you like our video (and the music!) 🎶
I used to get mine from the little coupon on the back of comic books. It was $1.50 and you had to fill out and mail the coupon in. One packet of Sea Monkeys came with nothing else and they little gritty looking things just floated around in the jar (some sank) and I just ended up pouring them out. Kept doing this a few more times before I gave up on them. Still love them, though, now I have found out they are brine shrimp and should have come with food and instructions. I think water conditioner too.
I remember these. I bought all I could from this bank, and then I got the rest from this guy named Ralph in an alley.
Don't forget to aerate the tank, blow bubbles in it using a long pipette or turkey baster multiple times a day
They die much quicker if you don't aerate and they ran out of oxygen
Thanks for the tip!
Stir gently
Him :- doing it hard as he can 🤣🤣
Yes! I always thought they were going to start looking like the picture and play volleyball at the 🏖!😆but they never did☹️
No volleyball here, but our Sea Monkeys are still alive and thriving after 8 months, so that’s something! 😊
That's actually pretty cool, they grew fairly quickly.
Sea monkeys were my first experience with expectations from marketing not being in line with reality. Thank you Sea monkeys. The lesson I learned was worth millions more then the few $ I spent on the kit
That's a positive spin if I've ever heard one. Nice silver lining!
I haven’t seen or used this since I was hella young. Now, at 20, I’m tempted to give it another go. 😂
Love the video!
Go for it! They’re pretty fun, and ours are still alive after 4 months!!

I had them when I was little but my Nanny threw them away she thought it was just dirty water.🤣🤣🤣
Oh no!! Poor Sea Monkeys :(
😱😱😱..Oh No..lol
Thank you for posting this video and the one from a year later, too. 🙂
Hey guys! Interesting fact about Sea Monkeys: The day 1 "purifier" is actually salt, since they are BRINE shrimp, and this package actually contains the eggs. They will hatch within that first 24-48 hours, so when you add package 2, the baby shrimp are already hatched and there, and that blue dye will make them more visible. This is why they say that they're instant.
I always got these when I was a kid, too!
Interesting! They are quite miraculous little creatures. Our original batch (seen in this video) is now almost 1.5 years old and still doing great! They're the most low-maintenance pets ever... you can go one a week-long cruise, and they don't even need a pet sitter, lol!
Just got some last month... it took at least 3 weeks to even see tiny babies. I was so worried before i started seeing them but now after a full month they are big and visible, but it appears theres only around 6-7 in the tank. Still really fun though!
Thanks for watching our video Chloe! Enjoy your Sea Monkeys. They're fun and interesting to watch!
awwh so cutee i used to have these they were like my childhood pets idk wat happened to them but they grew quite big tho tysm for making this vid it made my day!
That's awesome!! Thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your memories!
If you use bottled water or distilled water you can put packet 1 and 2 in use a pipet to airate the water also using a mini usb heater and a usb mini airpump will help
Great tips, thanks Rebecca! 😊
I had sea monkey and they are still alive to this day and I was 3 years old when I had them and I am 11 years old and they are alive ❤
Wow!! That's amazing!
I came here because a streamer mentioned sea monkeys as a childhood. Sea monkeys is just one of those childhood stuff I knew existed but never really cared (had no internet so no way of bothering to know). Now that I'm an adult and somehow stumbled upon this video I'm quite mind blown that "sea monkeys" are actually real living creatures.

They're super cute! They always look like they're smiling :)
Look at the vid that shows them under a microscope
So cute
I had them before they came with the container. How long did these ones live? Mine didn't grow that big.
This tank lasted about 3 years with very little maintenance. We think the secret is getting good algae growth - placement of your tank is key. We recommend placing near a window with good indirect sunlight.
@@Our80sLife I was wondering about temperature. My brother took his Betta fish on a trip with him to the coast. He made the mistake of setting him by the window "so he could see the ocean". When he came back from his day the beach the sun had already got to where fishy was and he was dead.
Yes I do remember that
I bought ones again recently its not the original sea monkeys tho its from this shop from china its called my prehistoric pets and they are exactly same but the process is different but good thing is they hatched and i hatched almost 100 sea monkeys in one pack im really excited i bought them for $2
Interesting! That was a great deal! We're glad to hear your "prehistoric pets" are doing well. All the best :)
I'm watching this video because I was gonna buy this set!
How long should you wait before airenate the water after they first hatch? They have just hatched today also whats the best way to keep a eye on the temperature thanks
I saw another vlog where he had an air stone set with low pressure so not too much - temperature wise you should be able to use a thermometer for an aquarium
We actually didn't aerate our tank, just followed the instructions that came with it. Best of luck!!
This is cool i never had any but would be fun to try out.
I got some with my aunt at Tractors Supply!, I’m still waiting for the water to purify! I love sea monkeys
Awesome! Good luck with your babies :)
OMG SO FANTASTIC..you have no idea why...its because i wanted them as a kid..but mom said no...i had no way to get them unless she helped me..so now through you i get to see was it wort it!!!!! hmmm...they don't live very long?? maybe my dream of having them wasn't worh it after all..LMAO guess i'll find out through you guys!! ok i watch till the end like i always do..they are so sm,all but you can see them and they looked amazing!! i loved them!! i want some now!!! where did you get yours?
they are supposed to live up to 2 years if you take proper care of them, not overfeeding, growing algae, maybe put some plants for oxygen, aerating, some light, keeping warm but not too hot etc. They may even last forever because females can fertilise eggs asexually and hatch a lot at once. Hope you manage to get some and they'll live long :)
Nice!!! My daughters had some when they were little! Me and my brother did too. I always hated how they didn’t look like the weird Neptune-ish family in the ad! I hope your little sea monkeys are doing ok!
Right?! The ads for Sea Monkeys definitely did not align with reality, lol! They've been fun though and so mesmerizing to watch. Our little pets are still doing great!
You guys are goddamn delightful. My sea monkeys just hatched and I’m sooooo excited for them to get thicc 😍

I started my sea monkeys 4 weeks ago. They’re fascinating to watch.
Aren’t they?!
Lol I saw a post online that mentioned these sea monkeys, I had to look up what they were. Never in my life would I have guessed that it included growing something live… interesting!
They're super cool! You should get some "instant pets!"
My son got some with his microscope. Really looking forward to doing this.
Neat! Good luck, and have fun!
I just bought myself a kit today. Im 47 btw. Mine cost like $19. Anyway, I bought these myself at around age 7 1/2, with my own money that i had earned selling greeting cards. Let me correct that, I bought them with points. Depending on how many points you got from selling cards, you then select your winnings. I knew what i wanted! Well! We had moved to a new state. But, I was still determined. I had dreams of those little alien underwater people coming to life and having parties! Boy was i disappointed! But! They still were cool. The females carried eggsacks on their backs. Despite the disappointment, i had had a fascination. Then in years to come, I then volunteered at a sea aquarium. Low and behold, one of my jobs was to feed the jelly fish. Their food was brine shrimp. (Sea monkeys) Anyway, i bought these today to remind me of a time when I felt independent and excited to be working. Im also working towards an employment goal. I just hope that, at this point in life, it wont be another let down. Hell, if it is, maybe it will at least be as fascinating as sea monkeys!
Thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your Sea Monkey memories! We wish you success in your endeavors, both in raising your new Sea Monkeys and also your employment goal.
😊 Thanks!!! @@Our80sLife
Thank you for revealing the true owner of Sea Monkeys. There are so many fakes out there.
Edit: Don't read if you don't want to get the fun spoiled.
The sad thing about these "sea monkeys" are that: 1. theyre just artemia. kind of similar to tiny shrimp.2. The "water purifier" actually contains eggs too. the eggs already hatch by the time you open and pour in the 2nd packet. The second packet not only contains more eggs, but also contains blue dye which creates the illusion of the sea monkeys coming to life right then and there when in fact they were already hatched, just very hard to see.
you have just spoilt it for me :(
Oh, so sorry. But don't be sad. There really are magical creatures out in ocean waters. I'll make sure to edit my comment.
@@mochimonster3880 its ok, I know what you mean :)
Now THAT was interesting!
But they aren't supposed to hatch just then and there. It says it can take up to a week for them to hatch. So idk how what you're saying could be possible.
What do I do when I run out of sea monkey food?
The food lasts a really long time because you only need to feed them a tiny bit, once weekly. Our little packet has lasted us over 9 months. If you do run out, you can purchase more.
Where and what type of food
@@someguest426 hm i searched on Amazon amazon and just buy it
bruh my sea monkeys hacked yesterday and they where little and now ion even see them are they sleeping 😭😭
RIP my friend 💀💔
@@R4m4. that was so straight forward LMAO
I REMEMBER THOSE IN COMIC BOOKS...MY PARENTS WOULDN'T LET ME HAVE THEM
Why? How sad!
My friend just bought sea monkeys. His are defective (probably because he's doing it wrong) but they took a full week to hatch and they're bright orange instead of the normal clear/white colour. I think he has mutant sea monkeys.
Hmm... weird! At least they hatched though.
Same my sea monkeys took 15 days to hatch and they came out bright orange they are doing fine though they are orange but managed to make it to adult
Update: only two them have survived to adulthood. But my friends has vowed to look after his two mutants and get more to do a second tank, we're hoping the second group act more like sea monkeys and we will keep out little mutant shrimp buddies separate lol
Sea Monkeys are just brine shrimp. If you google brine shrimp or put it into RUclips... you will see that normally you can get millions of brine shrimp eggs for @ $10. Reason being most people use brine shrimp as a first food for fish fry and they are very easy to hatch by the thousands at a time.
@@pixiesouter9419 Sounds like a plan!
When I had sea monkeys as a kid I always followed the directions closely, but I think the directions caused me to overfeed. Any tricks on not overfeeding?
We only feed our Sea Monkeys once per week, and just use the tiny scoop provided with the kit. That's literally it! Also, once your tank has been going for a few weeks, you'll notice some green algae forming at the bottom. The Sea Monkeys also use that as a food source so they're very self-sufficient if they survive the critical first phase. Hope this helps!
@@Our80sLife I will try this, thank you so much!
Put a shrimp on the barbie!.... used to see the advert when i was kid but never got around to ordering. Thanks for satisfying my curiosity

There brine shrimp
And they were made in 1954
when the bag of food is finished what do you put in them?
The Sea Monkey food will last a LONG time because you only feed them a very tiny bit each week. If you do run out, you can order more from the Sea Monkeys website (or wherever you bought your tank.)
I remember Sea Monkey's I was mislead. They never did grow up to be how they looked on the box. I also wonder if this is how life began. We probably came out of a packet under observation in a petri dish.
Except the owners of the sea monkeys were aliens then they boot us out
I've grown mine for over a year now!
Wow!! Impressive!
Back in the late 90s,, I went to a family re union in Salt Lake UT. We went to the Great Salt Lake to swim around and have fun. I did not swim around , I did not want salty briny water all over me, so I stayed on shore,, and looked around, I saw little critters in the waters edge, scooped them up and took them back home with me to Albuq. NM. They were sea monkeys, live sea monkeys they live in the Great Salt lake in UTAH, so if you live near there, you can go get some live ones :)
Oh my goodness!! That's really interesting that you were able to move the sea monkeys from their natural habitat, and they survived. I don't blame you about the swimming though... don't think I'd want to swim with thousands of tiny shrimp either, lol! Thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your memories Paul!

Sea monkeys are known as Artemia and it is a good source of protein for guppies.
Hello, how do you change the water in the tank? These fish are so little, you cannot use a net to fish them out and place in another tank to clean their tank.
Thanks
You don’t need to change the water. Occasionally, when the water level goes down, you just add fresh water. Sea Monkey tanks are self-sustaining and don’t need to be cleaned. They will grow algae at the bottom over time, but it needs to remain as it’s a food source for them. Hope this helps!

Omg! I remember those sea monkies.
Hey, I bought sea monkeys on Monday after randomly remembering them from my childhood. (They didn’t last long when I was a kid!) I live in the UK and I looked at shipping for spare food and water purifier and it’s $20 just for shipping. In the UK you can only buy the kits.. What can I do for my sea monkeys when they grow big should I run out of food or I feel I’ve added a lot of water back into the tank?
Hmm... well, fortunately the food in the package lasts a REALLY long time, like probably a year or more, since you only have to feed them a tiny little scoop every 5-7 days. The water purifier is only used once, prior to adding the Sea Monkey eggs. You should have plenty of supplies to sustain your new pets, but if you get desperate for more food, you could just buy a new kit (or look for a retailer that sells the food separately.) Best of luck!!
@@Our80sLife so I shouldn’t need to add more water purifier? I was just thinking the more I topped up the water the weaker the first packet I put in that’s in the water would get?

Yep, they're an actual thing. And even better, our Sea Monkeys are still alive and doing well! Here's our 6-month update video, in case you missed it: ruclips.net/video/SAuA0GrlCuI/видео.html Thanks for watching!
What do you feed them when you run out of sea monkey food?
Sea Monkeys come with a packet of powdered food. You only have to feed them a tiny amount every 5-7 days, so there’s plenty of food provided. But if you need more, you can always buy another packet of food.
I read that after the initial packet of food, you won’t need anymore! if you’ve done everything correctly up until this point, they feed off the algae that grows in their tank and won’t need anything else
@@tamagotchi7989 We hadn’t heard that, but we still feed our Sea Monkeys a tiny scoop of food each week, and they’re doing great!
@@Our80sLife that’s good then! I read it on the packet kit so I’m not 100% sure its correct, but if they said it then I’m sure eithers fine!
@@Our80sLife also u can buy new life spectrum grow its a baby fish food and it's powder you get some of their tank water and miss it with a tiny tiny amount of the food then put it in there, or u can dab the powder with the tip of your finger and put finger in tank
