Waahh. I had got this as a christmas present when I was around 7. I was so excited because the pictures showed this whole sea monkey kingdom where there was a family and it evem showed them doing sports!! So i thought i was going to het this cool new family hahaha. Plus, i thought they would grow to be life size and i remember i was worried because the container was too small.
They grew for about 10 days when my mom accidently knocked them over my math book 😂 i cried so hard, and I remember that there were dead sea monkeys all over my book

I used to get mine from the little coupon on the back of comic books. It was $1.50 and you had to fill out and mail the coupon in. One packet of Sea Monkeys came with nothing else and they little gritty looking things just floated around in the jar (some sank) and I just ended up pouring them out. Kept doing this a few more times before I gave up on them. Still love them, though, now I have found out they are brine shrimp and should have come with food and instructions. I think water conditioner too.

Hey guys! Interesting fact about Sea Monkeys: The day 1 "purifier" is actually salt, since they are BRINE shrimp, and this package actually contains the eggs. They will hatch within that first 24-48 hours, so when you add package 2, the baby shrimp are already hatched and there, and that blue dye will make them more visible. This is why they say that they're instant.
I always got these when I was a kid, too!

they are supposed to live up to 2 years if you take proper care of them, not overfeeding, growing algae, maybe put some plants for oxygen, aerating, some light, keeping warm but not too hot etc. They may even last forever because females can fertilise eggs asexually and hatch a lot at once. Hope you manage to get some and they'll live long :)

I just bought myself a kit today. Im 47 btw. Mine cost like $19. Anyway, I bought these myself at around age 7 1/2, with my own money that i had earned selling greeting cards. Let me correct that, I bought them with points. Depending on how many points you got from selling cards, you then select your winnings. I knew what i wanted! Well! We had moved to a new state. But, I was still determined. I had dreams of those little alien underwater people coming to life and having parties! Boy was i disappointed! But! They still were cool. The females carried eggsacks on their backs. Despite the disappointment, i had had a fascination. Then in years to come, I then volunteered at a sea aquarium. Low and behold, one of my jobs was to feed the jelly fish. Their food was brine shrimp. (Sea monkeys) Anyway, i bought these today to remind me of a time when I felt independent and excited to be working. Im also working towards an employment goal. I just hope that, at this point in life, it wont be another let down. Hell, if it is, maybe it will at least be as fascinating as sea monkeys!

Edit: Don't read if you don't want to get the fun spoiled.
The sad thing about these "sea monkeys" are that: 1. theyre just artemia. kind of similar to tiny shrimp.2. The "water purifier" actually contains eggs too. the eggs already hatch by the time you open and pour in the 2nd packet. The second packet not only contains more eggs, but also contains blue dye which creates the illusion of the sea monkeys coming to life right then and there when in fact they were already hatched, just very hard to see.

You don’t need to change the water. Occasionally, when the water level goes down, you just add fresh water. Sea Monkey tanks are self-sustaining and don’t need to be cleaned. They will grow algae at the bottom over time, but it needs to remain as it’s a food source for them. Hope this helps!

Hey, I bought sea monkeys on Monday after randomly remembering them from my childhood. (They didn’t last long when I was a kid!) I live in the UK and I looked at shipping for spare food and water purifier and it’s $20 just for shipping. In the UK you can only buy the kits.. • @Our80sLife

Hmm... well, fortunately the food in the package lasts a REALLY long time, like probably a year or more, since you only have to feed them a tiny little scoop every 5-7 days. The water purifier is only used once, prior to adding the Sea Monkey eggs. You should have plenty of supplies to sustain your new pets, but if you get desperate for more food, you could just buy a new kit (or look for a retailer that sells the food separately.) Best of luck!!

Sea Monkeys come with a packet of powdered food. You only have to feed them a tiny amount every 5-7 days, so there’s plenty of food provided. But if you need more, you can always buy another packet of food.

I read that after the initial packet of food, you won’t need anymore! if you’ve done everything correctly up until this point, they feed off the algae that grows in their tank and won’t need anything else

@@tamagotchi7989 We hadn’t heard that, but we still feed our Sea Monkeys a tiny scoop of food each week, and they’re doing great!
