This is amazing! Tic Tac will see a surge in sales LOL. But seriously, this is my favorite video! Love the microscope photos too! Did you pipe air into the tic tac container, or did the algae provide the oxygen?

It would be super interesting to put some Sea-Monkeys directly into the algae culture though. Actually I think I might try it later today :)

@@pico-cosmos Thus far, they get other companies to do it, and the tanks are always crappy remakes of the original version they put out decades ago. No innovation at all. And worse, their egg content is very very low in their packets 1 and 2. I can do better just in a frikin fish supplement without even trying.
One more question. I just made my own 1 gallon tank for my monkeys and used instant ocean in the water. I followed the portions said on the back. If the water is already at the right salt level, what would you do about putting packet 1 in the water? Will it make it too salty for the monkey's? Was I supposed account for this and put less instant ocean in?
Hey man. I've got a question for you. I know you've done your fair share of research on this stuff, probably for both work and for fun. I'm a mechanic, so excuse me if I'm asking a dumb question lol. In a lot of your videos, you talk about the importance of microalgae. I also know the kind of tank used effects algae growth, like how the explor-a-sub didn't grow any microalgae in part because of a lack of a textured substrate. In cases like that, would it be possible to add something to help algae grow? Not in the F/2 food kinda way, but like how most regular sized aquariums have sand or rocks at the bottom. Would that help algae grow? Or do you think things like that could pose a threat to the sea-monkeys?
Yeah adding a substrate can definitely help! I have a large DIY tank that has a fine gravel/sand substrate combo, and it helps a lot with algae growth. Small aquarium rock ornaments help too 👌
I've now added the giant Tic-Tac box to my Wishlist, whether or not I turn it into a novelty aquarium or to grow algae is still in debate. I haven't eaten Tic-Tacs in years, I'm sure I'll have to give many of the mini boxes inside away to family and friends but they might think I'm telling them their breath is bad since Tic-Tacs are sort of like mints. There is absolutely no way I'll manage to eat 420 tic-tacs on my own. Also, frankly, had I not found out about what that episode of South Park was about I would have never gotten the reference and "that" detail! That's the only Easter egg I found on this vid so if you put more I've either already forgotten about it or completely missed it xD. I actually have a lot of empty Tic-Tac containers, a few regular sized ones and the bigger ones that I've only seen in Walmart, reason why is because I like buying mixed bags of seed beads and these make great containers for them after I've sorted them. I just need some aquarium sand and cute décor and I'll definitely have my own mini aquarium for them! Plus I think they would be a good alternative for transporting them other places if one doesn't own the keychains and pens where you can put the sea-monkeys in. And regarding my growing Sea-Monkeys tank collection I think I'm gonna buy a few more Ocean Zoos in different colors and probably stop until a new fun tank shows up and catches my attention, I am definitely still hoping to find a Sunken Treasure tank but for the time being it's going to be impossible xD. I've yet to grow my own algae but after this week I'm hoping I can and that it'll help my Sea-Monkeys thrive. Thank you so much for making these videos and educating us more on these awesome little creatures. Hope you have a great day!

Do I add packet number 2 and do nothing else or dump out the water and try again I really hope you see this because I’m really trying to get another colony again.
I believe packet #1 actually has more eggs than packet #2. That being said I’d probably just recommend pouring the tank water out and starting again. Don’t clean the tank though, the algae in there should survive for the next batch :)

I've been wondering how to make my sea monkeys portable without buying the 100+ dollar watch or locket. This is perfect!
😂 I’d only recommend doing this short term 👌
@@pico-cosmos Oh definitely. I'd only keep them in there 8 hours maximum. And I'd make sure they were well oxygenated.
A very fun watch!
Amazing video as always! the shooting and attention to detail is beautiful .The South Park reference and figures “mating” cracked me up 😂
It’s always a highlight of my day to see you’ve posted
Thank you :) and I’m glad you enjoying my stupid sense of humour 😂 will have more videos coming to the channel soon 👍
Isso e incrível parabéns pelo vídeo 👏
I've always wanted minty fresh Sea Monkeys
😂
The dolls 😂😂7:53
Hello, so my colony has passed away and I wanted to add more sea monkeys in there, but the water is full and there’s a great amount of microalgae.
Hey thank you very much for responding! I will do that and make sure to keep as much algae in there as possible love your videos by the way keep up the good work!
This is so cool! I got recommended this video and I figured why not, and I’m glad I clicked on it. I’ve been binging your videos, and they’re always so well made. I’m seriously considering getting some sea monkeys of my own in the next year because of you and all your excellent videos. Cheers!
Glad to hear you’ve been enjoying the content :) thanks for supporting the channel and feel free to reach out if you ever have any questions about raising Sea-Monkeys
This is sooo cute i really like this 🙂
Cheers Mohamad :)
I've actually never seen these creatures before. How long do they live in good conditions? Will they keep on reproducing until the tank is full of them? 😅
Each individual lives around 4 months, but a colony can be sustained indefinitely because they have babies
Super interesting experiment, glad to see it went well!
I did a similar experiment like 6 months ago growing 2 Sea-Monkeys in a 5ml “aquarium”, still cant believe that worked 😅
Amazing video John! So fun haha
Thanks :D glad you enjoyed it
I havent been able to watch your videos in a while, happy to see youve been doing well
This is beautiful!!! wow! I love how creative you are and I learn so much about sea monkeys thanks to your channel. keep up the awesome work!!
Thanks Lisa! It was a fun video to make :) will have more videos coming soon 👍
Absolutely loved this one , so creative and small but you made it work well, also placing spongebob and Patrick in the container in the beginning took me out. 🤣 Well done friend keep up the great work as always.
There was an official Spongebob brine shrimp kit back in the day called “plenty-o-plankton” - I managed to get a kit recently so I’ll be reviewing it later this year :) it had Spongebob & Patrick in there too!
@@pico-cosmos that's epic! I can't wait to see that video later on, I'll definitely be waiting. Keep up the great work mate.
Your videos inspired me to go out and buy some myself aha
Lol nice! Have you set up the tank yet?
@@pico-cosmos yup quite a few babies hatched already keeping them under purple light for 16 hours, kept them near a heat source at 26 degrees, basically following everything from all your videos so hopefully they’ll have a good run
Hey! Nice microscope!! How do you like it? I haven't had a chance to get one yet.
Tbh I know very little about microscopy, this is the only one I’ve ever used. As far as I’m aware I’ve pretty much maxed out the quality I can get from it. It’s far from perfect, but my results are good enough for these videos, for now 😅
1:31 i just realized Eric Cartman is on the cover 😭
do u have a vid abt how to grow microalgae?
great video for new veiwers
Yeah this one is aimed at a wider audience. Back to regular scheduled programming again for the next video lol, will be doing an unboxing & review of the Sea-Monkeys Aqua Maze 👍
@@pico-cosmos i think it’s great your spreading sea monkeys to more people definitely something good to see
Haha I really though he was building up to put something else in there 😱
🤣 what gave it away??
Great video, such a creative idea
Thanks! This was a lot of fun to make
This is super adorable 😍 I miss sea monkeys
When did you last have them?
@@pico-cosmos size or so years ago back in highschool lol 😂 didn't go very well unfortunately but I plan to eventually get some and try again
@@stoneydoe420 don’t feel too bad, I think most people fail with them the first few times (me included). Hopefully you have better luck with your next batch 🤞
I might need to use one of these as a tank for the baby sea monkeys
Is it ok to put a bit of sand in a normal sea monkey tank ???
Yup! Just make sure to rinse the sand well first
Thanks
This guy is so underrated..he makes very cool vids👌
🙏
Somehow you always amaze me with amaaaaazing videos
Thanks!! 😊
Love it mate
It was SO COOL!
Great video like always!
Thank you! Glad to hear you enjoyed it :)
@@pico-cosmos is your giveaway from last video still happening?
Yup! Will be announcing the winner from the “Magic Castle” giveaway soon, and then the Explor-A-Sub video winner will be announced in a few weeks from now
@@pico-cosmos thank you for responding! I’m excited to see who won :)
So close too 100k I’ve been with you the whole time
🙌 thanks for being an OG subscriber :) hopefully the channel reaches 100k in the next week or two 🤞
@@pico-cosmos Subscribed! I watched some of your older videos and saw how you have progressed in quality. Keep up the good work! More mini tanks creations would be cool.
Very cool.
This is great, and I love that ur not abusing any animals in this :)
you are a marketing genius. i've been watching you since a long time and seeing you expand your viewer base by introducing Sea Monkeys at the start of the video adds a very nice touch. well done mate, only up from here :)
Thanks mate! Really appreciate that :) hoping to see the Sea-Monkey hobby grow more this year 🤞🤞
Great video as always
Wow! I thought I would see some mad fish abuse when I saw the thumbnail but you didn’t! What a great video good job 🎉
OK. When I get back from my much deserved holiday I'm starting some seamonkey pets!!
🙌 enjoy your break
Your aquarium is so cute
I know if you have gravel the sea monkeys could harm themself
I do wanna decorate my little set up some would black sand be fine for a longer period of time?
Yup black sand is a great option. Remember to rinse it well first so it’s nice and clean
amazing video
Omg the sea people and me cover 😂 btw I love Southpark so huge respect to you
Where do you get one of those small plants from
