Really appreciate this long form video since we really get to hear your thought process as you go through your collection. You've really opened my eyes in terms of considering how "complete" games are in my collection, especially ones that I played a while ago and may have since had several updates/rereleases. Thanks!
I have to know, what did you think about Astros Playroom ? I love that game there were so many references to old characters and the gameplay was amazing, very nostalgic
Really interesting concept that I never really thought of. My collection is just growing bigger and bigger. The few times I sell games is when I don't see myself playing them and they're worth a bit. Then I can sell to get more expensive games that I'll really treasure. This gives me a bit to think about. Thanks and keep up the awesome work!
Glad to hear you found this video helpful! I like the idea of trimming out some of the bloat so that those funds can be used towards something that carries more meaning too :)
Hi Emily! This video came at the perfect time! I'm now fully unpacked and comfortable in my new space, and I realized I should downsize my switch collection. I'm going to go through my games just like you did and hopefully free up some space for some new favorite games! I hope you have a lovely week! 😄
It's such a hard process to decide what to keep, FOMO comes in a lot and there's games you wouldn't typically buy but you don't want to miss out on the cheapest it'll ever be. I tossed some of my cardboard boxes when I moved, kept my Fire Emblem (and I hope Xenoblade, I have the collector's edition for all of them) but as you said in the video, it's hard to justify the shelf space for cardboard. Congrats on the PS5! I LOVED Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on it, really great platformer. For FF7 Remake I highly recommend going with the PS5 version, the framerate isn't bad on PS4 but the image is much better plus a consistent 60 rather than inconsistent 30s-20s. Plus the Intergrade DLC is only on PS5, so if you do want to play that you need the PS5 version (and it comes with the DLC I think).
This does inspire me to go through a similar process of my own, but I've got that fear you mentioned at the end, where I'm going to regret selling something. That sort of regret was basically the impetus for me to start collecting in the first place, so it's a big hurdle to get over. Long-term, though, my goal is to have more of a curated library than just a MASSIVE PILE OF EVERY JRPG EVER, so I know I need to get started. Wish me luck!😅
RUclips recommended your video so I checked it out. You have have a cool collection and those statues are awesome looking. I’m a year late, but hopefully you had good luck selling or upgrading some of those games you wanted.
I’m currently going through this with my Wii, Wii U, DS, 3DS and PSP collections. It’s definitely a lot easier to acquire games that it is to get rid of them, but so far I’ve weeded out over 200 titles that I don’t really see any point in keeping. I have trouble letting go stuff from my favorite genres too. I haven’t even breached my Switch games yet, but I recently organized everything by genre to help me get a better handle on what I have and what could potentially be weeded out. I enjoyed watching your video. Speaking from personal experience, Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom was one of my first Switch games and is one of my favorites. It had such gorgeous artwork, an amazing soundtrack, and solid gameplay. I upgraded to the collectors edition and gave the other copy to my friend. Monster Boy as I understand it is a spiritual successor to the Wonderboy games. Since you mentioned being on the fence, I would suggest giving Monster Boy a go first. That way, if you really like it you will have a more solid foundation in exploring its roots in those earlier games. I bought them all to play - the remaster of Dragon’s Trap is beautiful and you can switch between pixel art and hand drawn artwork on the fly (same with original and arranged OSTs). The mechanics are the same regardless and the only issue might be that it might feel a bit dated. Don’t want to twist your arm one way or another but if you really like Monster Boy, it might inspire you to delve through the others!
Good Topic... Its like HappyConsoleGamer always says "collect games you want to play" I just sold 30+ switch games I bought on impulse and never finished.
That is quite the collection! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us along with your thought process on how you evaluate each and every game in your collection. I know all too well the struggle associated with tracking down select North American switch releases and the inflated price tags associated with them when they become scarce. Being a collector on a tight budget, I buy games regardless of their region to avoid paying more than I'm comfortable with. As my collection grew, my OCD kicked in after noticing how the games on my shelves didn't have a clean, seamless look, which inevitably led me to feelings of buyers remorse for not sticking to NA titles. So I searched online for a cost effective way to replace the cover art for all of my non-NA switch games instead of reselling them to repurchase those games in my preferred region. My search led me to a handful of shops on Etsy offering the service to custom print art covers for switch games for as little as $6, to as high as $12 (which is contingent on whether you want art on the inside of the cover as well). Since finding the shop I use on Etsy, I have replaced 32 covers (with another 5 on the way); now the collection on my shelves have a much cleaner, seamless look. All this to say that if you're looking to do the same at a fraction of the cost, this is a pretty neat way to do it 🙂
Another great video, I really need to re-evaluate my collection too. I've got sooo many games due to fomo but once I have it they just sit on my shelf until I find the time to play!
This longer video was such a pleasant surprise! I split it up over 2 nights and found it both very relaxing and informative. I literally bought the digital for Mercenaries Saga Chronicles the following morning as it was a great price and bc I needed a strat jrpg that was beginner friendly and simple as I’m new to them. Anyways tysm for taking the time to share, Emily; it was wonderful as always!
Really good point about actually taking them off the shelf and physically holding/looking at them as opposed to just scrolling past them on the shelf and you’re liable to skip over some you really should get rid off. More work yet more thorough. - Any game I want to get rid of I will go ahead and wait at least a day or so and then re-examine my stack of what I’m going to get rid of - usually I’m right, but sometimes you get overzealous in getting rid of stuff. 😊
It's refreshing to hear a game collector talk about downsizing and getting rid of some games. It seems like most collectors on RUclips just talk about having the biggest number of games possible and I'm not downing people who do that ( I have a large collection myself) but, it's cool to hear a topic that isn't represented or talked about much.
You have a fantastic collection! Its very conscientious of you to go through everything. Its not something I do for my various collections but I must admit having a large house helps with not doing that. I have a whole library room full of books, DVDs and games (my 4000 CDs are spread through the whole house). My library even survived my recently importing my mother's collection of hard-back novels from Australia to the UK on a huge new book case (around 100 more books). But I might have to rethink soon... or buy a bigger house.
What a great (and relevant) video! I've started looking through my collection and considering pruning some parts of it. I love your approach and will try to adapt it to my own needs. Thanks!
Nice Vita collection! My favourite thing about the Vita is the PSTV. Such a cool accessory that is perfect for travelling. I often have to stay in hotels for several weeks at a time, so I pack my Vita, PSTV, and a Dualshock 4.
I can remember a few years ago I really streamlined my PS2 collection and some of the games that I let go at the time were big heavy hitters (Suikoden IV is probably one of the bigger ones) but I also recall that I played and did not like it. The Ty Tasmanian Tiger Trilogy was another one that I let go for very cheap but ultimately I had never really played them and had had them in my collection for years. In some instances, I think if I own a game for 10 years and don't play it, it's time for it to go. I have kind of winced at the price I let them go for now, but I don't regret because I never played them and honestly struggle to remember some of the games I really did get rid of.
Amazing Video, I've just started doing the same in the past year trimming the fat of my collection your process is the same as me its great to see. Just sold pikmin 1 and 2 on gamecube as the switch port is coming in September no point having them on both.
Hearing that dungeon song from Tokyo Xanadu in the background was a pleasant surprise. Lol can’t believe they made a dungeon song that’s so happy and relaxing
Great and inspiring content as always! ❤ I've always been thinking about re-evaluating my collection! But the hardest and probably the most important part is actually PLAY them. Most of the time I feel not motivated enough or just simply not sure which one to play from my HUGE backlog~ I think I need to develop an organised plan or schedule to play more games but on the other hand part of me is warning myself that kind of play style might take the fun out of enjoying a game... So I'm really interested in how you organise your time to play more games while still get most fun out of them without feel like doing homework~
I haven't finished watching it yet, but just wanted to say - great video! I really enjoy your channel. I love that you act like a normal person and not hyperactive like most youtubers.
Great video! This is something that I need to do too as I keep buying games that I just don't play or have played but did not like. I have seen a bunch of your videos and I like your style. You have a calm voice that makes it easy to watch your videos. You got yourself a new subscriber! :)
I really like the process you do to evaluate your collection, I really need to implement this or a similar process to purge mine. Having all generations of Nintendo and PlayStation have been bothersome with the volume especially with how huge ps4 and switch is. So I’ll probably be doing something about it in the near future to free up some space. Great video!
Gamer and Collector 😮 it’s unique for RUclips channel, have not seen content creators or channels like that at least so far in video gamer community . Great video, great channel.
Emily this is such a good topic!!! I'm in a similar position, I have had games in boxes since moving into our house four years ago 😅 We are in such a good position now, almost most of the important games have been ported to new consoles now anyway 😊
Great video and interesting subject..i have a tonne of retrogames and consoles.. but these days i only buy games i intend to actually play.. there's only so much plastic we need in our lives... The compulsive buying of video games thankfully is a phase that is over for me..keep up the good work..
I do this process myself 1-2 times a year. But I also decide after I beat a game if it should go back to the shelf or the selling pile. I am a Nintendo and Playstation collector and have games that starts on the Snes to current gen and I have only around 350 games. I really like your setup, Its clean, organized and have a purpose. Like my own.
I just did this over the weekend. I went through every game I had and asked myself two questions: Will I ever play this? Does this hold any sort of sentimental value? If the answer to both is no, then I pulled it from the collection. I've wanted to shrink down what I have for some time now, as I've gotten older, I just don't have the time to play as much as I do. I end up buying so many games and never playing them because of it.
I do a similar exercise as you do with curating a collection. The core difference is I try to determine if a game is worth buying way before purchasing. This way I don't have buyers remorse or waste any time on a title that will not be considered a classic some day. Quality over Quantity mindset.
I’m watching…it may take a couple of days for me to finish. But I'll be enjoying every minute of it. So far it is an impressive collection. You've put in so much effort. Thank you for sharing it with us #mytop3
Didn't see any PS3 games your really missing out on Tales of Xillia 1 & 2, Tales of Grace, along with lots of Atelier games, Eternal Sonata, Resonance of Fate, Time & Eternity, Star Ocean The Last Hope. There are also a lot of other great games. Always find your videos very informative.
I enjoy listening to you talk about your game library! I had an idea for another style of video you could make: Tier lists. Maybe you could take a series or a genre with a lot of entries you're familiar with and rate them. It could be an opportunity to talk about what you like or dislike about each one and compare them. Stuff like that. Just an idea. I know I would watch :)
Finally just got done watching the whole video! Very extensive, exhaustive, and extended look at your collection hehe! Love it! I just have a couple of things I wanted to say: 1. In my opinion, I don't think you should get rid of games (like Tales of the Abyss) if they do get an upgrade/enhanced version. I think the first/older versions of the games have their unique charm and quality that might not be there on the newer versions of the game. And honestly, given the state of gaming nowadays, there's always a chance that the new version might be not be as good or even worse than the original lol. 2. If you are gonna replace a game (like PS4 to PS5), I do have a question, are you gonna be able to play them? Because, I noticed, a good chunk of the games that you said you were gonna do this thing, you haven't even had played them yet. I think, (and this will relate to my 3rd point as well) you should try playing those games, and see if these are games that you can sink your teeth into, and it will be worth continuing the experience on the newer hardware. 3. You had a decent amount of games that you were clearly on the fence on whether to keep or to sell. I would suggest, and this could be a series of videos you can do moving forward, is to try out said games, see what they really are, and, ultimately, make the decision from there. I think, it's good to have that knowledge of having a greater idea of what the game is, and you can make a better choice on what to do with it. Keep up the great work as always, Emily! :D
There are so many games here I would likely never have come across otherwise - thanks for going through each one! Also, I need to pick up the PS2 version of SSX Tricky, that game defined so much of my childhood. Companies need to produce more shiny/reflective covers 😊
I really appreciate the amount of effort that clearly went into this video! Great stuff as always! Really enjoyed hearing your thought process to curation. I feel like I’m getting a lot of collection bloat from the part of my collection that’s devoted to videogame console history and curiosities 😂 when I get an unusual old console, I always get one game so that I can test and demo the hardware, but then any time I’m at a show or con I’ll buy more just because it’s rare to have the opportunity to buy them. Fast forward and I suddenly have 20 games for an obscure console from the early 90s that I’m never going to play other than flipping it on to show to people occasionally. 😂 those probably needs to be the first things to prune.
Thank you, I greatly appreciate it :) Haha, the console history/curiosities sounds like an interesting side collection! One that you may want to consider trimming if it's become larger than you first envisioned, but cool to have some of those things nevertheless.
@@orbalology Funnily enough, I've always been really enthusiastic about gaming history, particularly handhelds, so "videogaming through the ages" was actually the main collection rather than a subcollection. It was actually the "my nostalgia games" and "games I've loved recently" collections that were the subcollection until recently when they overtook the historical stuff in volume😅
I always loved your topic ideas for your videos and the concepts within themselves were always so well done, nuanced and helpful! This video is definitely one of them and a superb watch Emily! A wonderful collection you have curated and cutting back where you can, to having - i guess a purpose to collect, not solely just to amass a huge collection for the sake of it is the way to go! Obviously people can collect how they want, but i digress lol, as always, stellar video Emily! The video was so enjoyable, it genuinely didn't feel like an hour at all! :)
Great video! Thanks for sharing your collection and thinking with us. I have a lot of the same games as you on the DS, 3DS, and switch, and it’s great to hear about games you’ve got and enjoyed. I do something similar to you where I’ll remove the games I’m thinking of getting rid of from the shelf, and after some time has passed and I haven’t missed them, then I’m ok with selling them. And if there’s ones I want to upgrade I’ll wait for a sale or other promotion (or reprint) to buy the upgraded copy.
While I have not downsized my collection, I have definitely cut back on the number of games I've been getting over the past 2 years. When I started game collecting, I was cycling through 5 local game stores, ordering stuff on different websites, and getting into ebay auctions basically every week. Now at most I pick up 2-3 games every other month. I've done the same thing when it comes for genres I'm most interested in, I primarily collect JRPGS, visual novels and rhythm games plus Nintendo first party exclusives I care about, and a small handful of greatest hits in genres that I tend to play less but still enjoy on each platform. At some point, I get to the point where I feel like that collection is "complete", a good sampling of the types of games and franchises I enjoy on a given platform and more or less stop collecting for it. This usually doesn't happen until after the console is no longer in production and releasing games so at this point I'm really just focusing on the Switch. Also, glad to see the entire collection, happy game hunting!
I like the concept of "organic collection". I'm on the same boat. I have games that i like and some that i will think I will like and play some day. If a game that I already had lost interest on me or is a game that i don't like after playing it i sell it or trade it. Simple as that. And as for the double dip. I always prefer to have only one version, the one that run better. For example, I have YS VIII and IX on PS5 because on Switch, if it's a good thing to play portable, they don't run well at all. I always prioritize Switch but as long as the game run without issues. Imo hoarding games that you don't really goes with your tastes is like having a souless collection and also fooling yourself.
It's interesting, but hard for me to do so. Even if I have a great time in one game, it's not that I ever replay my finished games. So, I don't really understand how I'm going to evaluate my collection, but I do enjoy collecting games 😅 Thank you for sharing your thought, Emily 😊
Great video and it really makes me reconsider my own collection priorities. If you ever get around to it, I can really recommend you give Wonderboy: the Dragon’s Trap a try. I’m pretty biased as I grew up with this series, but it has so much character, great artwork and music and it’s not a particularly long game.
Great video! I completely agree with double dipping on Switch and PS5 games. I'm thinking of doing it with Octopath Traveler 2, since there are added particle effects on the PS5 version.
Awesome vid! I try to be minimalistic with my collection (my focus is VNs / JRPGs too), feels great selling off stuff so the collection is all killer no filler :)
A few years ago i decided to only keep games that i have beaten or intend te beat. If i try one and don't like it i put it off for a while and then give it another shot. Then i'll either keep it to beat or sell it. That really helped me to focus on the games i actually like instead of games i'll never play that will just take space. And now i actually have space for figures and various collectors edition stuff.
I really need to do this process too. Thanks for the inspiration! I have too many games like your copy of Assassin's Creed where I got a really good deal, but I know I don't need to keep it.
Wow you have Muramasa nice , I have the wii version. I’ve been a fan of your videos for a while I really like your style of talking about games and figures. We have the same Ryza figure and I’m super jealous of your Pyra figure!
I don't really have too many games comparitively, but this sounds like a good idea since I have a few games I know I'll never play considering I have the PS4 version of Overwatch. Though there are a few childhood games that I haven't had for a long while. I was stupid as a kid, so a lot of my childhood games ended up going to GameStop, such as all of my NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, and Gameboy games. Unfortunately I have no clue if I'll ever see my childhood copies of the three Kingdom Hearts PS2 games as they were borrowed many years ago, and show no signs of being returned. I'll definitely be trying this out, and the bit at the end about the regret of selling games and those belonging in your collection was fairly reassuring.
I recently started purging my collection just like like you did in this video. Feels good but some of these games are hard to resell. Even with the demanded or popular ones. And I tend to sell below the market prices. I’ll be moving soon so it is much needed.
Thank you for the video :). It’s interesting to see your process of curating your collection. I’ve been planning to condense my collection. I was curious about the sell/trade pile, do you have a preferred method/location to trade and sell those items?
Omg you have the OG Jak & Dexter! I really wish I hadn't sold my best PS2 games back in the day to get a PS3; felt like a good move at the time though... Great video as always, loving the move to long form content!
The PSP edition of Final Fantasy 3 is quite nice. It takes the DS version (which was the original 3D Remake, and also quite nice) and pretties up the graphics quite well. It also gives the option to swap between the arranged and the new ost.
I'm loving that PS2 collection!! I know it's built on a lot of nostalgia, but that copy of SSX Tricky came out of nowhere lol But honestly, I'm sure we all have at least one game in all our collection people would wonder where that came from. Mainline Monster Hunter games can be very difficult to get into. I tried 3 on the Wii and World on the PS4, before getting to Rise and absolutely falling in love with it. If you do plan on giving in another shot would recommend checking out some guides and tutorial vids. Just picking the right starting weapon can make all the difference honestly.
Great video! Watched all the way to the end and I've been thinking about applying this more to my own collecting (which i'm already good at, but will need to downsize again at some point). Also regarding Norn9, it's Switch rerelease has an improved translation. That's the version to play as the Vita TL was heavily criticised back in the day.
Really like hearing your thoughts about your collection. You made some good points about your process. Have a lovely week Emily! Btw i enjoyed owl boy but its not a need to play game. Music is very nice tho in it :)
For Castlevania, the Switch has two collections. One collection has all the classic Castlevanias, from 1 up to Super Castlevania, as well as the Gameboy games as well as Bloodlines and a Japan exclusive game Kid Dracula. Then the second collection has all 3 GBA games as well as Dracula X. These collections are EXCELLENT! They have great filters and emulation, as well as a ton of extras like different soundtracks and manuals, with versions in English and Japanese. I highly recommend them both.
my main criteria on what games to let go or not is if I ever have intention of replaying it in the future, even if I realistically can't replay all the games I like, if I feel that I want to revisit it at some point then I'm keeping it I do have some outliers where I enjoyed the game but probably won't replay it anytime soon, but those are only a handful of games
Excellent video, Emily! I really like the idea of taking everything off the shelf and evaluating each game one by one. I've been thinking about downsizing my game collection a bit so I might need to do this exercise soon as well. I'd definitely recommend completing the Lord of the Rings set on PS2, you can't go wrong with Two Towers and Return of the King (Third Age is also a pretty great turn-based RPG)! :)
Thanks Rusty! Oh if you document something similar about downsizing your collection I would love to see it! But haha, you may have inspired me wanting to make a LOTR side collection on the PS2 :)
"An unnecessary purchase I didn't need to make." This happens to me more often than I care to admit. I've gotten better at avoiding this over time, but it still happens every now and then. xD
Great video I'm also in the middle of getting rid of things /trading in/donating some games and duplicates. It's great to see how someone else does it. With Uncharted 4 you can pay $10 and get the upgrade to the Legacy Collection on PS5. You just need the disc inserted. I think that's a good way to 29:19 play them. That's what I did. With Yakuza LAD you can just get the PS5 upgrade with your PS4 disc, just a suggestion.
Aye great collection again from me 😂. I’ve said that so many times at this point but it’s really motivating to achieve a collection like yours. I’m glad your not getting rid of Digimon survive, there some quirks I don’t like but good story.
Thank you! And haha, I knew having Digimon Survive in the thumbnail may be a bit contentious. I still need to play it but I think I'll end up enjoying it's darker story.
Wow, that's quite a little collection you got there. It's easy for a backlog to accumulate when you know what kind of games you like, but it really isn't fair when it comes to collectors editions. I personally don't buy a new game until I beat the last one I bought, so the fomo for desired collectors editions is very real for me. I'm glad your channel explores alternative game memorabilia options opposed to the traditional collector editions and Funko Pop figurines. Also, has that new Zelda 1TB MicroSD card caught your eye yet? lol
Nice video! Whenever i play a game that i dont vibe with i add it to a pile of things to sell/trade. I also find myself favouring switch over ps4, even if the ps4 version performs better so i have a couple ps4 games in my "sell pile" that were released on switch after. My dilemna is when games such as trails of cold steel release the first 2 on ps4 and the last 2 on switch because ideally i would like the entire series on the same console. Anyway i currently have a stack of ps4 and switch games that i will probably list on poshmark at some point.
Awesome Video Emily. I noticed you mentioned Wonder Boy 3 The Dragon's trap remake. That's an excellent game. They added 3 difficulty modes to it. You don't have to get up to pause on the Sega Master system to go use or equip your items. The most important thing in this that they did compared to the original is that you don't need charm stones anymore to buy certain armor, shields & swords. They made the process of farming your money a whole lot better that you don't lose what you gained should you game over or turn off your system. Also I would recommend if you have this game to play Alex Kidd in Miracle World remake.
I don't know if you care for 3D, but I absolutely love the 3D on the 3DS, I actually bought a New 3DS specifically because of the head tracking for the 3D. I only say this because maybe depending on your interest in 3D and if the 3D is actually good, to keep your copy of One Piece and Conception on the 3DS instead of getting them on the Vita. I also want to say even though you didn't mention anything negative about it, there's a lot of negative feedback about Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate. Make sure you atleast play it before you decide to get rid of it. It's not like traditional Castlevania, it's like a 2.5D version of the console Lords of Shadow games. Additionally, while the game has low framerate, it's at least consistent framerate. You won't have framerate spikes/drops, it's consistent throughout the game. Then finally, Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate is an absolutely amazing 3D showcase, the 3D effect is absolutely jaw dropping how beautiful it looks in every instance. 1/3 of the way into the game with the mirror in the background, that entire room looks amazing, but they even made the front of the room(off screen) viewable in the mirror, so the entire room is in 3D and then in the Mirror it looks like everything goes even further back. You just want to make sure to turn the 3D off when you go underwater because the way they did it underwater it is very straining on the eyes(I mean painful straining and it only has this issue underwater.
This is a great topic! I just downsized myself, there were just some stuff that was gathering dust and i haven’t touched for more than a year. I even forgot i had them haha that was probably a sign 😂
The original Theatrythm requires you to use a stylus. The sequel (Curtain Call) lets you decide which you want to use. You can even use both on one song if you want. The Switch game uses the controller with no touch screen option.
I don't care about Final Fantasy 3, but I didn't know the PSP version plays in English. I own the US DS version, might pick up the PSP version since it is my favorite portable.
Favourite RUclipsr by far! You always seem so authentic❤️
Wow, thank you! :)
Agreed!
She is lovely and definitely my favourite one as well.
@@orbalologyshe’s actually one that I love, specifically because of her voice.
@@orbalologydid you see the new Samba de Amigo? And can you dance?
Thanks for this video, always a great reminder that collections should have a purpose. Keep doing what you are doing, I wish you tons of success.
Glad to hear that! And thank you :)
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who picks up pretty much anything NIS or Falcom releases! Love their games!
All this to say that if you're looking to do the same at a fraction of the cost, this is a pretty neat way to do it 🙂
You have so many wonderful games I wasn't even aware of that I had to pause this video and check them out for myself :) Excellent video as always
I have been reducing my collection, I guess that means more curated now! Have sold off about $100K worth of games so far and it feels great.
Another great video, I really need to re-evaluate my collection too. I've got sooo many games due to fomo but once I have it they just sit on my shelf until I find the time to play!
Thanks! I find this process very therapeutic, so I hope you find it useful as well (& help create some funds for games you enjoy more 😊)
This longer video was such a pleasant surprise!

Any game I want to get rid of I will go ahead and wait at least a day or so and then re-examine my stack of what I’m going to get rid of - usually I’m right, but sometimes you get overzealous in getting rid of stuff.
But I might have to rethink soon... or buy a bigger house.
legit just did this with my own collection! Love hearing others mindset around downsizing
what a fantastic video! extremely entertaining to watch along. I love doing this with my collection too!
I really appreciate you describing how long your backlog is. Mine is the same if not worse.
Really nice to watch this all the way through, and I think it'll be useful for me to think about as I collect more things. Thanks.
Great and inspiring content as always! ❤
I've always been thinking about re-evaluating my collection! But the hardest and probably the most important part is actually PLAY them. Most of the time I feel not motivated enough or just simply not sure which one to play from my HUGE backlog~
I think I need to develop an organised plan or schedule to play more games but on the other hand part of me is warning myself that kind of play style might take the fun out of enjoying a game...
How I downsize my collection “Keep, Keep, Keep, Keep…” 🤣
Gamer and Collector 😮 it’s unique for RUclips channel, have not seen content creators or channels like that at least so far in video gamer community . Great video, great channel.
OMG that copy of Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate 😮 GORGEOUS!! I highly recommend the Castlevania series, there's a lot of fun to be had there!
Emily this is such a good topic!!!
I'm in a similar position, I have had games in boxes since moving into our house four years ago 😅
We are in such a good position now, almost most of the important games have been ported to new consoles now anyway 😊
Great video and interesting subject..i have a tonne of retrogames and consoles.. but these days i only buy games i intend to actually play.. there's only so much plastic we need in our lives... The compulsive buying of video games thankfully is a phase that is over for me..keep up the good work..
I really love these longer collection videos, always in the background when im achievement hunting on Xbox
I just found this channel and this video is very helpful! 😄I definitely need to do this with my collection
I’m watching…it may take a couple of days for me to finish. But I'll be enjoying every minute of it. So far it is an impressive collection. You've put in so much effort. Thank you for sharing it with us
#mytop3
Such a fun and interesting idea for a video! I’m gonna do this with my own collection.
Love it! I just have a couple of things I wanted to say:
Thank you, I greatly appreciate it :)
Haha, the console history/curiosities sounds like an interesting side collection!
Thank you! Glad to hear you implement something similar to help re-focus your collection too :)
Emily, great work on this video!! I love how down to earth and real you are in your work, keep up the great job, your passion shines bright :D
Thank you so much!! 😊
So, I don't really understand how I'm going to evaluate my collection, but I do enjoy collecting games 😅
Thank you for sharing your thought, Emily 😊
Awesome upload massive inspiration to us smaller gaming content creators 👍👍
Thanks! And agreed it's always nice to sell off some things to help fund pieces that carry more meaning :)
That's a good way to go about it! I've been trying to implement something similar but I've been rather slow at getting through my games recently 😅
I love long videos! Gives me something to listen to when cleaning.
I'm so glad! :)
I didn't know Bustafellows was getting a sequel!! I'm so excited thanks for mentioning it , great video ! :)
Im Absolutely in Love with your collection, Youre a great collector Emily!😊
Thank you so much! 😊
I recently started purging my collection just like like you did in this video.
Feels good but some of these games are hard to resell. Even with the demanded or popular ones. And I tend to sell below the market prices.
I’ll be moving soon so it is much needed.
Finding the complete Spyro version was really tough. Basically had to hope eBay sellers had clear pictures of the disc so you could get the right one
Ah yeah, I have a feeling it'll be difficult but something I should start my search for 😂
Thank you for the video :).
Thanks! I'm surprised most of the PS2 games my brother & I had survived the gamestop trade-ins. Our Nintendo stuff sadly didn't 🥲
You will love Cris Tales, even on switch I didn’t notice major issues. Maybe because I am never in a rush to finish a game.
I have been going through the same process before watching your video and it's cool.
I always intend on getting rid of a load of things. Then it ends up "Hmm....keep, keep, keep, keep, keep....keep...."
Thanks Milla! Oh and thanks for the info about the Switch release. Looks like I'll be looking into getting that one instead :)
I really wish the second collection had a physical version as well.
my main criteria on what games to let go or not is if I ever have intention of replaying it in the future, even if I realistically can't replay all the games I like, if I feel that I want to revisit it at some point then I'm keeping it
I do have some outliers where I enjoyed the game but probably won't replay it anytime soon, but those are only a handful of games
It's a good way to center your collection! :)
@@orbalology totally, it helps keep things more minimal so that I know what I have is what I want to have
Excellent video, Emily!
I've gotten better at avoiding this over time, but it still happens every now and then. xD
I try to avoid them too, but these things can get even the best of us 😅
It's hard letting go of games but at the same time it is sort of liberating, especially if you had something you never played for years.
I gave up on the Rune Factory 5 patch and just went back and finished it. The performance issues didn’t bother me as much as I thought they would.
Really cool IKE statue behind you!! :)
Cool, I heard of the Alex Kidd remake but I'll look more into it.
@@orbalology ok cool.
The show 19 got absolutely disrespected. lol love your videos!!
You just want to make sure to turn the 3D off when you go underwater because the way they did it underwater it is very straining on the eyes(I mean painful straining and it only has this issue underwater.
a very healthy thing to do. wish more people did it
This is a great topic! I just downsized myself, there were just some stuff that was gathering dust and i haven’t touched for more than a year. I even forgot i had them haha that was probably a sign 😂
AWESOME VIDEO EMILY LOVE YOUR CHANNEL.
Thanks so much!! :)
14:16 some advice, Persona Q has an issue with the cartridge decaying. You might want to see if it works.
Another GREAT video! Stay blessed gorgeous 💯
The original Theatrythm requires you to use a stylus. The sequel (Curtain Call) lets you decide which you want to use. You can even use both on one song if you want. The Switch game uses the controller with no touch screen option.
Ah ok, good to know. Thanks!
Now I have to do this to my videos games, and a disgusting amount of graded / sealed Pokémon cards
I don't care about Final Fantasy 3, but I didn't know the PSP version plays in English. I own the US DS version, might pick up the PSP version since it is my favorite portable.
Shelves look great! My house in tears of the kingdom has some great swords and shields but it needs a video game collection shelf tbh
A video game shelf in TotK would be awesome 😂
