The worst part is not knowing why? Why did he do this when it seemed they had a good relatiobship. There was a case of another boy doing this. Playing games and talking to strangers and killing his family and showing them pictures. Maybe someone is pushing or coercing them to do it. They get so involved in the fantasy online. Being sent to prison fibally brings them back to reality.

He was full of jealousy over the baby sister, and felt left out and forgotten.
His mom started a “new” family with a man that wasn’t his dad and the beautiful baby was now center stage. He knew what he was doing.
He waited for his stepdad to be out of town.
He couldn’t contain his rage and no doubt he had been planning to kill her.
He was never actually going to kill himself.
This was a possessive jealous boy with blind rage. So sad & cruel.

Maybe mom WAS leaving him out or making him feel left v out. Some moms get so wrapped up in some men that they neglect the fact that their children STILL need their mom;they need their love and attention. His mom may have been too busy giving it all to her new man.

I really believe he felt jealous of sharing his mother with a new sibling on top of a new “dad” and he killed his mother because she was “willing” to have a new family. He of course already had mental issues and this new life triggered his psychopath tendencies. My most sincere condolences to the family and especially his mother’s spouse
That's a possibility...I had a run of nearly 8 years before my parents had my brother and I was jealous, but what I didn't know until I got older was that my mom miscarried two girls (still birth). My heart goes out to this kid and to his family.

I agree. Parents often don’t realise the impact it has on children, when they firstly divorce. Then the mother moves on to a new relationship and has a baby. So she has a whole new family. Who knows what this boys relationship was like, with his dad, and stepdad. Obviously, to get to this point of hating his mother so much, there is a lot of hurt going on. Nobody would do such an act, without very deep resentment and hatred building up. It’s sad.
Yes, I had that thought as well-jealousy over the attention the mother was giving the new baby and a step father in the picture. It’s completely normal for people to try and make sense of these types of tragedies. To the virtue signalers on here: go pound sand. No one is making a medical diagnosis!

Oh, hoping “the father has a good family and lots of support” reminded me! The father allegedly had people come stay at his house, apparently someone from that area was sharing gossip in the comments that he moved his mistress from Cuba (hmm, how was that alleged affair working for him? Lol ) and his kids in, and was therefore guilty. I don’t know why people like to jump to the worst conclusions. I thought if some woman and kids moved in, they probably came to help him with the little baby and be there for support! Maybe it was his kids’ mother, maybe it was his sister, aunt, cousin…. But I do think he has good support.

He is most likely housed alone so the juvenile system does not get sued for wrongful death, doesn't seem to have a single scratch on him and had a haircut probably by the jail he is in!! I worked in my local jails for 20 years, only once did an inmate continue to tell of what he did after he was given his Miranda Warning. I liked how the detective coached him through every sentence in the Miranda warning Prior to questioning him!!! Usually I would arrest the inmate for the law breaking and read him his Miranda warning, at that point the inmate would ask for counsel and my interview would stop, an easy report!! I would forward my report to the county attorney's office for review and never did they come back saying I violated any law concerning the interview!!

When his parents divorced he probably saw himself as the "man of the house" -- he had a role in the family which was meaningful to him. When his mother remarried he lost her full attention and his role was usurped by the step-father. Then Mom becomes pregnant and all the excitement is about the new baby -- once again, he is on the sidelines. Stabbing 40 times is overkill rage. He was very angry that he had lost his mother's love (in his eyes). Playing video games for years also contributed -- he probably killed thousands of times in the games, with no real consequences, so he became desensitized to violence. His affect is flat. He feels numb or empty inside at this point. He knows his life is over, and he doesn't care that it is.

@HazyEmpathy it's all about ideas..those games desensitize to the idea of killing..ideas become actions (possibly very quickly) in a desensitized impressionable youth full of ideas of rage(which is actually misunderstanding aka immaturity) 100% those types of games lead to mistakes within our youth.
Stabbing 40 times is overkill (for want of a better word), especially when he said in his interview that he cut the carotid artery. What else was happening in the home to trigger this? He's guilty but I feel very uncomfortable about minors being interviewed without adult or legal representation.

We have 2 possibilities that could be motivators from what we know so far. 1. The new baby could have made him jealous angry at his mother. 2. There was some sort of coaxing from this friend online. Kinda weird he send pictures after. There is definitely more to this and most likely this child had mental illness far before this on top of issuses. Also saying he comes from a loving and happy family is not known so far and if there is a step father he grew up in the middle of a divorce or with parents that were never together. Psychological issues are a lot more common in children with divorced parents. He’s not super smart if he confessed everything and asked for a lawyer after that. There was some reason he didn’t want to explain why he did it. From embarrassment, not being able to handle it, or something else seems far more likely. He wasn’t insane. No signs of psychosis and is fully aware of what he did when texting friends about what he did and confession on 911 call.

You say he's very calm. His affect is completely flat. It's clearly depression. He was going to shoot himself with the stepdad's gun. He was suicidal. The fact that he comes up with two different reasons to not admit the "why," when he is so transparent about everything else, could suggest the "why" is something too horrible for him to talk about. There are so many possibilities. Maybe someone made him do it. Maybe he was being made to do other things he can't process at his age. Maybe he is afraid to admit the reason because of what it might say about someone else, or even his mom. Maybe he is just a horrible person. Who knows? We really need to wait for a trial and not speculate.

I don't want to disrespect the dead so I'm being very careful with what I say but in particular I would like to learn more about the sons relationship with the mother and if there was any inappropriate behavior going on there.

Yes, it is said that a neighbor declared she saw two people coming to the apt a couple of hours bfr the crime, also that there was blood on the stairs. Next hearing will be on Jan 15.

I’m curious why psychopathy never comes up in criminal court cases - on either the defence side or the prosecution side. I wonder if they avoid it because then they have to get into the whole debate about whether that makes them criminally responsible.
