The attention to detail is quite amazing for a farm sim game. I'd love to see it's combat for testing on how it feels when it comes out or the dev show that later on.

I'm hoping that these are just placeholders while the game is in development, and will eventually be swapped out for more original artwork before release. Otherwise, it'll be hard to distinguish itself from just being a Stardew Valley clone.

No hate to the devs but it feels they’re banking on people confusing this for Stardew and buying it instead of Stardew, especially with how 1:1 nearly everything is in terms of the style. Media that is made to grift off something already popular don’t tend to be all that good. Know Concerned Ape has worked with a few people before but to general audiences they’ll see “ex-Stardew Dev” and just assume it’s Concerned Ape as many assume it was a one man team.
I read online that for the most part, Concered Ape was a solo developer in the creation of SV, but throughout the project, he sometimes had others who helped with the workload/development
Many assets are basically carbon copies of SV assets. They redrew it for the new size but the entire thing looks like 100% SV style. So people are going to be confused who made the game and if it is art theft. I personally will need to see a statement from CA before purchasing. I wish they put their own spin on the art style instead of just being lazy and reusing what they knew from working on Stardew.
yeah I don't understand how people say palworld is too simliar to pokemon but they have no problem supporting something like this. this is more than just inspired by stardew, literally half of the assets are identical lol. so disappointing and hypocritical
My problem is, anyone who told the developer on social media that the graphics look too similar to Stardew--he instantly blocked them. It's fine for developers and artist to be inspired by another's work, but I think whenever you get upset over anyone having feedback over the similarities, it becomes an issue

Plagiarize someone work and marketing it on his social media looks bad specially he put CA in his bio. He doesn't even follow him. My concerned is, did he warned this to the dev that this is going to happened? If he didn't then we can see the clear picture between the relationship with those two. Seems little oof CA is making updates to SDV while one of his ex dev is making a clone 🙄. If I was him, I would have keep my job with CA for insurance purposes not quit. That's silly to cut off his main income specially he's living in America. America economy is bad. This dev is making bad moves
I get the feeling CA is probably going to have to step in on this one. Some of the assets just look too similar to SV. I'm not even one of those people who cry "it's a Stardew clone!", but parts of this one are near identical (except with slightly higher res).
What worries me is people will see this and think its related to SDV and that its intentional. I would love for CA to say something, anything, that is positive towards this game so I don't feel horrible for buying it. It clearly wouldn't exist in the way it does without the guy having worked on SDV, I don't like the idea of him capitalizing off of that.
We will never know whether the similarities are intentional or not. We can't read the guy's mind. What we do know is that the dev of Sunkissed just blocks people who bring this point up rather than making a public statement and addressing it. He's not being transparent, which probably means that he either feels guilty or has something to hide.
If this was drawn by the same artist that's fine but if this is a different artist copying the style of Stardew then they really should have tried harder to be a bit different.

wow, im super excited for this! i love the city setting and all the customization! i really enjoyed the complexities of rune factory's crafting system, so im wondering if the dev is going to try and implement somethinglike that too. changing up the layout of your home is something ive never seen in another farming sim. im not usually big on home decorating but being able to add or change rooms is intriguing. and i was so surprised to see you can have a day job! the larger character portraits are wonderful as well. the scale of the dialogue box isn't too large either. i really see the earthbound inspiration in the dev's style and i think this footage does PLENTY to distinguish it from stardew. i actually feel like it's a disservice to new farming sims to constantly compare them to stardew, even when there's no trace of similarity. here i understand, because it's someone that did work on stardew, but it's irksome to see that comparison being made to games that don't share a setting, similar story, or even the same mechanics with stardew just because theyre both pixel art farming sims. i know people are going to be very annoying about the art style, but it looks different enough to me

Wow this looks great! I love the idea of a rooftop garden and the city setting. A bike seems more practical than a horse. What will make it or break it for me is the characters and their stories.
I find it crazy that people went crazy over Palworld pals looking a lot like Pokemon, where as this one looks exactly like SV but no one is saying anything (?). I don't see it as inspired but more so extremely similar even the font, crops. machines, flora, furniture. etc. Regardless, it looks to have potential so definitely excited to learn more about it as the dev progresses

Now I love SDV so much, it'll always be a special one to me BUT...I feel like this looks like it's covering a lot of opportunities I didn't know SDV missed😳 Especially the Sims like house building is such a great idea! Also a bicycle being an option to move around is a GAMECHANGER. Kinda reminds me of the OG pokemon games...the joy of finally getting a bicycle is something I'll always remember😋

Based on a direct statement from the dev on steam the engine for Sunkissed City is built around 24x24 tiles as opposed to 16x16 which Stardew uses meaning the dev can’t just use Stardew assets in their game. So while the artstyle is again clearly derivative the actual assets are made by the dev of Sunkissed City. Not necessarily defending the game personally I think they really should have put effort into a more distinctively different art style, esprcially considering their connection to Stardew as a former employee of Concerned Ape and the obvious parallels in the games being similar genres, but at the very least to the devs credit it’s not an asset flip.

I would understand if the color palette is similar, or if 1-2 items look coincidentally similar but it hits differently when over a half of the items look like they belong in SV.
I had seen screenshots of this floating around, but hadn't seen the home customization! I really hope you can add new tiles in the city apartment, not just in the farm house (but I guess mods might solve that). The art generally manages to be unique, but a lot of the greenery reminds me of SDV.

I hadn't seen this one before. The game play sounds like it will be interesting if everything mentioned makes it into the game. If the art wasn't a copy of SDV I'd be more excited for it. I will keep an eye on it to see if anything changes. Thanks for the info!

I’m looking forward to it. The stardew inspiration is obvious, but I know Concerned Ape hired people who made good mods for stardew to help with updates. I hope nothing is «stolen» from stardew, just inspired.. Hopefully Sunkissed City will be fun 😊
Feels too close to Stardew. Would have liked it to be more urban to distinguish it, it still looks like a rural town and not a city. Because there's a sea of new lifesim games coming out, some of which have the same concept of urban living/working for a corporation, this just feels lower priority because I don't want to play Stardew again.
I wish the artistic styles will be more distinct. I probably won’t play until some good distinct artistic mods come out. My brain won’t stop seeing SDV with the orginal graphic if it sticks to the style in these Twitter videos we’re seeing rn

I kinda like the ideas but the ngl, the graphics put me off 😅 Maybe chibi 3d models would've looked better and let it differentiate itself from SDV a little bit more.
It looks a lot like Stardew but omg I honestly would play the heck out of this!! It looks awesome and I love the bicycle!! 😂 It definitely seems like the story will be its own thing which is great!
@@Dreamy-writer yes, to help port it to other game systems and get online functional, but he developed and designed the original game. All the art, music, coding, story, etc was done by him
The core game was yes developed by CA BUT when you start bringing in other people WHICH HE DID A LOT , they also help DEVELOPE the game. Amazing how all the credit goes to CA only and not the other devs he brought him that worked on the future updates and portings.

The mechanics and all that obviously isn’t necessarily original since harvest moon did it first, CA just made it better imo, and it was his own take. And clearly this other dev is skilled and talented to the point where he doesn’t need to rip off Stardew’s looks. It looks like a fun game and he put loads of work, game making isn’t easy. It doesn’t bother me that he made a farming game in the general sense. And I do hope this game turns out to be fun Hope that clears things up.
After 1.0 a few people were hired to help with updating and maintaining the game. After the chucklefish partnership fell apart, some were also needed to help with the console versions as well. Not a ton were brought on, but it hasn’t been a 1 man team for years.
This is going to be a very powerful video game, I don't even know if this game will be legendary! If the creator of this game fulfills all the promises he showed in the movie, I can confidently say that it will be a dream game! I wanted to create such a game only in 3D, but what he created exceeded my expectations! If this game is good enough, it may even beat Stardew Valley, even in the extended version! This is a very difficult task because Stardew Valley, which will soon receive an update just like the extended version, is actually a very powerful video game. And there is no other game that will surpass this legend!
Ah ha we finally know more about how he could have helped with stardew valley when Barone supposedly did it all himself. It makes sense now that he brought in more people for later updates! The game looks great, so I'm looking forward to what's next!

Completely agree. Some of the graphics are hard to distinguish from SV, particularly the bushes, fences, trees, etc.

He was a solo until he scored big money. Well he has the opportunity to hire more co developers to update the SDV. You can see them in the credits
He hired some people to help him push out newer patches when the game became more popular

Based off their store page, it seems like it's getting a Linux version. That's 5 sales for me, having kids is expensive.

Ex stardew valley creator? SV was created by 1 guy, concerned ape. And he is working on Haunted Chocolatier.

What this dev did was resize the pixel 3-times bigger and his lazy butt kept the old stardew valley animation 🙄.
I would have approved the old animation better.

I hadn't seen this one before. The game play sounds like it will be interesting if everything mentioned makes it into the game. If the art wasn't a copy of SDV I'd be more excited for it. I will keep an eye on it to see if anything changes. Thanks for the info!

I’m looking forward to it. The stardew inspiration is obvious, but I know Concerned Ape hired people who made good mods for stardew to help with updates. I hope nothing is «stolen» from stardew, just inspired..

There is only one Stardew dev and he is very much not making this game
Feels too close to Stardew. Would have liked it to be more urban to distinguish it, it still looks like a rural town and not a city. Because there's a sea of new lifesim games coming out, some of which have the same concept of urban living/working for a corporation, this just feels lower priority because I don't want to play Stardew again.
Should feel like home to SDV fans, I applaud the dev for being able to recreate the same charm!
This is the first time hearing about this game and I look forward to it. I can see some similarities with Stardew, but overall it looked different.
I wish the artistic styles will be more distinct. I probably won’t play until some good distinct artistic mods come out. My brain won’t stop seeing SDV with the orginal graphic if it sticks to the style in these Twitter videos we’re seeing rn

I kinda like the ideas but the ngl, the graphics put me off 😅 Maybe chibi 3d models would've looked better and let it differentiate itself from SDV a little bit more.
It looks a lot like Stardew but omg I honestly would play the heck out of this!! It looks awesome and I love the bicycle!! 😂 It definitely seems like the story will be its own thing which is great!

Initially, yes. But if you look it up, Concerned Ape begin bringing in additional help as the game expanded, particularly to help with updates
@@Dreamy-writer yes, to help port it to other game systems and get online functional, but he developed and designed the original game. All the art, music, coding, story, etc was done by him
The core game was yes developed by CA BUT when you start bringing in other people WHICH HE DID A LOT , they also help DEVELOPE the game. Amazing how all the credit goes to CA only and not the other devs he brought him that worked on the future updates and portings.
@@celestialmaiden4606 the POINT is they had nothing to do with the design and how similar they look. The mechanics and all that obviously isn’t necessarily original since harvest moon did it first, CA just made it better imo, and it was his own take. And clearly this other dev is skilled and talented to the point where he doesn’t need to rip off Stardew’s looks. It looks like a fun game and he put loads of work, game making isn’t easy. It doesn’t bother me that he made a farming game in the general sense. And I do hope this game turns out to be fun

After 1.0 a few people were hired to help with updating and maintaining the game. After the chucklefish partnership fell apart, some were also needed to help with the console versions as well. Not a ton were brought on, but it hasn’t been a 1 man team for years.
This is going to be a very powerful video game, I don't even know if this game will be legendary! If the creator of this game fulfills all the promises he showed in the movie, I can confidently say that it will be a dream game! I wanted to create such a game only in 3D, but what he created exceeded my expectations!
If this game is good enough, it may even beat Stardew Valley, even in the extended version! This is a very difficult task because Stardew Valley, which will soon receive an update just like the extended version, is actually a very powerful video game. And there is no other game that will surpass this legend!
Games like this are why I support indie devs more than the big games made by uncaring companies. He has so many fresh ideas!
Ah ha we finally know more about how he could have helped with stardew valley when Barone supposedly did it all himself. It makes sense now that he brought in more people for later updates! The game looks great, so I'm looking forward to what's next!
