Police roadblock for low plane bringing Biden's helicopter transport 🇺🇸 🇬🇧

- Air force police shut down a street in London to allow two C-17 heavy transport planes to land, delivering helicopters ahead of Joe Biden's visit to the UK. The VH-3D Sea King helicopter transporting the President will adopt the call-sign 'Marine One'.
Joe Biden is expected to meet King Charles III to congratulate him on his coronation, before flying to Lithuania for the NATO summit. The President will use one of several VH-3D Sea Kings with the US Marine Corps as Marine One to travel around London. The US Army will provide Chinooks to support the operation.

If a C-17 pilot can back his massive plane into a spot, what's the excuse for car drivers who find it difficult?
Car drivers don’t have a loadmaster sitting in the trunk guiding them.
@@johnp139 But cars do have side mirrors and almost all newer models have reverse cameras. People are just not willing to learn the backing technique, but it's easy-peasy.
We need instructors like those in the military/airforce
@@teresasarigan251 definitely yes 😎
The cargo door is down so pilot can use rear view mirror
Reversing an air plane like a lorry, this pilot of Airforce is genius.
USA Air Force Pilots
He is driving like car😀😀😀😀
Bet he has it on 'autopilot park'. It's all super cool right up until he does that really hard brake while parking that send the front tire bouncing. That's a lot of force to move a huge chunk of metal like that. Oddly looked exactly like any vehicle would if it did a hard stop. Hope they had their seatbelts on and didn't ding up one of those coppers inside. Dang that would be a touch explanation to the bossman!
The pilot reversing the plane showed how well he is in his work !
Could have been a female pilot 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
If you notice. The tail ramp is partly open. I bet there would of been someone on the radio to the pilot relaying information, kind of like a reversing camera
very impressive skills by the pilot backing that plane into position .
very impressive
Load master guides him/her/it.
Biden fuj fuj kaput putin jessssss
Yes, put me in mind of 18 wheeler drivers I worked around at a warehouse. I knew a truck driver once who called another man a steering wheel holder not a truck driver. That pilot wasn't a steering wheel holder. Give him/her another year and they won't need to back up but once.
Yes, like that second pilot!!
I had no idea this thing can back up; and the way the pilot kept it on the tarmac is amazing.
The Loadmaster is in the back directing the pilot over headset. It's well practiced during training sorties for real world situations like this.

😂😂😂😂 impressive reverse parking skills.
First time I've ever seen a pilot use reverse thrusters to reverse a plane intentionally. I know it's more than possible but I never thought I'd see it done. How they did that without backup cameras though I have no idea 😊.
Edit: Maybe that's why he had that ramp door cracked open?? Smart pilot.
Load master is positioned on the ramp for guidance
Even passenger jets can back up using reverse thrust, but the manufacturers recommend against it because the engines can suck things up from the ground. 18:34
Good Job USAF! My late husband was a Veteran of USAF❤
Wow! Powering back into the ramp with guidance from the loadmaster. That is quite a move!
@jmWhyMe....Powering back into what ramp???? The ramp you see is the open tailgate of the C-17, i.e. it's moving back WITH the plane ;-)
@@andrep8287 no, what I mean is the paved area. That is called a ramp.
What you are calling a tailgate on the 17 is also a ramp which is why it's confusing.
Dang that big fellow got off the ground fast
That runway has a jump ramp right in the middle to assist with takeoffs.
That lift off was amazing. He just rotated and effortlessly was airborne.
How does something this big fly? It's outside the norms of physics lol. Wingardium leviosa and other such magic.
The C130, C17 and other military cargo planes are designed with extreme amounts of takeoff lift. They often deliver/pickup from grass or dirt ad hoc air fields so are designed for very short takeoff and landing. I’ve done many flights in the C130 and never failed to be amazed by it. When not loaded, the distance defies belief. Like private prop plane takeoff distances. Heavily loaded everything changes pretty dramatically but still, they can use almost any airfield.
No cargo. Hi lift wings. Powerful engines. Pretty easy.
Could have been him or her. Any of ya'll ever seen an old Caribou (I think they were C7 s) ? They sort of reminded me of a big grasshopper.
@@zamar2158 An engineer once told me; Getting it to lift off the ground is easy. Its landing it that's hard.
I'm not much interested in contemporary military aircraft these days, but the C-17 is one exception. There is more than a hint of Thunderbird 2 about it.
The creators of many Anderson series had aviation experts in the design of the models.

Certainly the emissions of the c17 are good compared to a c5 30 yrs ago but cannot be considered low emission. Must admit it's the first time I have seen anyone reversing an aircraft using the reverse thrust system on the engines - but it obviously works.
Same. I knew it would work but never have actually seen it performed
I have been on commercial aircraft at the gate that have backed up and swung around to head out to the runway. It's not common but it happens.
@@suzanneterrey4499 are you absolutely sure that was under engine power and not using a tug? Aircraft are not allowed to start their engines at the gate as items on the ground can be sucked in (including humans) and the jet wash from using reverse thrust to move an aircraft would be extremely dangerous and could damage the jet bridge and destroy windows in the terminal building. Once the aircraft has been pushed back and out onto the ramp, they ask ground control for permission to start engines and only when authorised do they initiate the startup sequence.
@@mediamakerThose rules don’t apply to US presidents Security Brigade
@@alaska3300 it's not a case of being applied to people due to their status - it is a safety issue. Commercial flights do not start engines at the gate due to the very real dangers posed by doing so - dangers that don't change depending on who is flying on the aircraft. As the Security Brigade is neither a commercial flight, nor is it at the gate, but reversing an aircraft out on the taxiway away from buildings, it is relatively ok to do what they did, as long as those on the ground and in the aircraft are aware of, and take notice to mitigate those dangers. The US presidents aircraft does not pull up at the commercial air-bridges either, so it would not apply in those circumstances - but you simply don't attempt to reverse a commercial aircraft out of a gate because the jet blast WILL destroy parts of the buildings and jet-bridge - and it doesn't matter who is on the aircraft - that would be an incredibly stupid, illegal and irresponsible thing to do.
The amount of money spent for stuff like this is unbelievable

My last posting before taking early retirement from the RAF in 1983 was as Officer Commanding Aircraft Servicing Flight at RAF Northolt. In that time, Ronald Reagan came to visit the Queen and Maggie Thatcher. Marine 1 was brought in to Notholt by a C-141 Starlifter and was stored in "my hangar".
An amusing event: One day I came back to the hangar from Station HQ and went to enter one of the man doors at one end of the hangar. It was being guarded by an armed US Marine sentry and he wanted to prevent me from entering. I got up real close and pointed out that this was "my hangar" and that there was no way that he and his gun was going to prevent me from returning to my office. I'm quite a little guy but there must have been something about my approach that caused him to think twice and I was allowed to enter and walk past Marine 1 in the corner of the hangar.
