Multiple MV-22 Osprey aircraft were used to transport staff while the US President flew in a VH-3D Sea King, followed by a decoy. Many emergency personnel, boats armed with machine guns, snipers on rooftops, firefighters in gear and more worked to secure the Downtown Manhattan Heliport during the major security operation. Amazing to watch this (I can only imagine the preparation for this!!!) IMO all citizens should be able to provide for themselves a similar level of security/ protection that the President and other world leaders experience.
Great job! I watched one of these amazing security ballets from the deck of a ferry that was held by the Coast Guard about a hundred feet off the Wall Street heliport as Bush2 arrived for UN Week in 2003. The noise and the rotor downwash was insane. I arrived at work soaked in river spray.
Unfortunately I was caught in Monday's madness on the FDR in transit to an appointment on the upper east side.

Those men searching the piers underneath with their boat certainly weren't showing muscles, but being proactive and making sure the platform was safe for everyone to enter. The American way is to spend money to be proactive instead of spending far money to be reactive. We are targeted, by far, than anyone, whether internally or from externally and the FBI and the Intelligence Community is briefed daily and in real time. What you call flexing is simply pragmatic, by I understand what what you call flexing. Your government can't even afford a single osprey, let alone one that's modified for the President, of which there's at least 12 for the Marine Corps Presidential Airlift Squadron, or HMX-1. But, keep running your mouth, the way you ridiculous nonsense is just amusing. Do you, while we do us.

IMO, the logistically cost of this operation would easily covered the construction of a much bigger helipad in the harbor side of the UN campus. Easily reduce the overhead and allow an even more secure protection envelope. Obviously, many other UN member nations would benefit from this helipad.
That would only increase congestion at very limited space. But, that can always be studied.
I love that there's always an NYPD tow truck in these motorcades.

Correct all the rescue trucks in the Fdny ( rescue 1-5) do not have back doors
Whenever I see first responders like NYPD and FDNY in action, I'm amazed at how diverse their duties and equipment can be. If you want to avoid riding a truck or patrolling a beat for your entire career, there are plenty of alternatives within the department(s) from which to choose. 👍🏽
(Stop typing - I know that every *major* department has similar options within their hierarchy, and the military speaks for itself, but seeing it in action through excellent videography takes it to another level.)💖
