If you get a chance to venture out while you're in Roanoke, check out the rail yard hobby shop. It's about 15 minutes away from the Berglund Center where the model car shows going to be it. It's a Mom and Pop's hobby shop that has been there ever since I was a kid and I'm 47 years old. Great guys that have that shop
Little tip which might help Mathew, when air brushing the dirt on; get in close and drag the dirt from front to back as the wind buffeting would do on the real car moving at a 100 miles an hour, the force of the air will always drag the grime from front to back in streaks, if that makes any sense.
I know this car. I was an admirer of Shelby and Ken Miles. I watched this car in 1966 win at Sebring and Daytona probably on Wide World of Sports. I remember seeing part of Le Mans some where. I know I saw the finish. I was 18. It rained, there was oil and fuel from other cars and some of Le Mans is country roads. And #1 was driven hard by Ken Miles. You did an outstanding job of the car before the race and now at the end of 24 hours. Congratulations! I’m going to try to build mine like it looked before the race. I don’t trust my skills to try and dirty it. This is one of my favorite cars, along with Shelby’s 289 Cobra, the Cobra Daytona, the Jaguar XK-SS and Jim Clark’s F1 Lotus/Ford. Again, Outstanding Job!
Very realistic look Matt. Great weathering job. Perfect looking build. Thanks for sharing. Good luck at the Roanoke show on Saturday. I see more trophies coming up for you and Ruthie.
Looks great! I’m glad you did this video. I have the 2017 GT40 and was thinking of doing something similar. Now I have an idea how to do it. Thanks Matthew!
Looks really great! If it's not late though, you need to add the two tow rings at the front. They are very distinctive on the #1 car because they were the same color as the fenders.
Excellent job on the weathering. Just one question, though... is that a right hand drive car? Do I see the steering wheel on the right side through the windshield?
Awesome Matthew
