Matthew It looks great . I do hope you are fleeing better.! A bit of triva. the orange color around the headlights was painted fluorescent orange. at the start of pit lane at le mans there were black lights When the Team Shelby car passed the start of the pits at night the fluorescent orange glowed so the pit crue can tell that it was there car or not.
You would need a photo at a particular point in the race to be accurate. In a 24h race, parts can and often are replaced, including complete noses and tails. I prefer to do mine in pre-race "pristine".
I don't know what's in the micro sol and micro set but I swear by them, I don't lay decals without using them! The GT is looking amazing! Hope your recovery is doing well!
The main thing with decals is that when you get them where you want them, leave them alone. I've messed up plenty going back to 'tweak' the decal. 🙄 Color looks pretty spot on. Great job
The decals and the body looks great. AK Interactive makes a pigment that is perfect for what you want to represent. It is called Asphalt Road Dirt. Clay Kemp uses the AK Interactive products. Thanks for sharing.
Wish I could show you a photo of the ford gt I did of the newer car from Revell. I did half clean and half raced. Can't wait to see how yours comes out. Cheers
Nice job on the decals! I built this car about a month ago. I’m kind of the opposite of yourself, I only build race cars, so I’m always doing decals. The headlight surrounds were pretty fussy, but using the correct tool for the job always makes the job less difficult. I found these decals were pretty thick and were able to withstand a fair amount of manipulation.Taking your time also helps a lot! I bought a silicone paint brush, which is actually for sculpting and it works really well at positioning decals around the model surface.
@@kencreppin2146 I, unfortunately do not. I’m pretty sure though that I bought it at Michael’s here in Canada, so I’m sure it’s available in the States as well. The tip is a flat wedge shape and the silicone nicely grips the surface of the decals!
Welcome back. Good to hear things went well with surgery. Now hope the healing process goes well. What color did.ypu use on this car? I always fight with the right tone for Gulf Theamed cars.
I don't know why, but the decals that come in Japanese model kits have very thick decals. They stand proud on the surface even with setting solutions is my experience.
It looks awesome

Looks Marvelous. Best Wishes for speedy recovery
I would have a hard time adding 24 hours of grime and dirt. Looks too good! Great job Matt. Also glad you are doing well and out of the hospital.

@@kencreppin2146 Me too. But I also like a challenge. Road grime would be that.

The seats of the F-40 had metal round vents, made a difference to driver comfort, but you need to pick out the seats in silver to make it seem real,
Nice job. I use micro set, then let them dry completely.

Do you have a link to the silicone paint brush? Never seen one of those.

I've heard using a hair dryer on the lowest heat setting works to soften the decals. I've never tried it so don't blame me if you melt your model😉

Decals are why I don't do race cars lol. Bane of my existence.
Man will this baby pop!!
👍👍👍👍
And…….if you wanna bring the hammer, you can use Walthers Solvaset decal solution!
Decals, are not something I look forward on model kits, car is coming out nice.
i agree thinking of building another petty car decals for reference will paint them from now on 🤩🤪scooter d
Well Done I knew you could do it look's real good
