The first year it came out my uncle played it, which got me interested. Then I started playing it a bunch. Then at a Christmas get together with relatives, found out that 3 of my other uncles, my cousin, and 1 friend of theirs were playing. That's because they were sitting in a circle of lounge chairs talking about the loot and shit. One of my favourite memories. kinda same, game gave me a really strong appreciation for undeads. kinda ironic, my first char was a paladin. didn't even *have* a build i just took the skills that looked cool and that was before skill resets got introduced so i was stuck with them. and also i only had a cracked english/russian copy from my dad who got it from one of his colleagues. back then my english was very bad (and of course i never knew a single word in russian) so i didn't even know what half the things meant and was only able to follow the basic storyline thanks to the video sequences, the little bit of english that i did understand, and a shitton of interpretation. not sure if i even managed to get to nightmare, probably didn't lol. after that i switched to necro, had some fun with that, started looking into the lore which made necros just seem cool af (and due to me being very interested also greatly improved my english speaking capability) and now i always play necro in any game that allows me to. still haven't found anything that comes even close to the d2 necro tho. at this point i think the d2 necro will just forever be my absolute favorite necro.

Especially now that games have evolved into a true art form like they have. But that's not always realistic for me. So its fun to get input about games I love from someone like minded. It helps me choose my next game sometimes. I also find we enjoy a lot of the same games. FF7R was a masterpiece... But BotW? Hyrule warriors? While I love them, I wouldn't dream of fully completing some of these. I hope you, your beard and your awesome team are well.
Fun fact, I’ve been playing Diablo 2 for 18 years and have only ever played single player. Multiplayer is weird to me. I’m just so used to the scary solitude of single player.
Sorry for stupid question, but what the hell were you doing there for 10k freaking hours?! I played 3k and felt like I have seen everything in this game, but 10k wtf?
@@m.z6610 Becoming intimately familiar with the game, of course. It was a game my friends and I all liked, so we'd hang out on D2 when we couldn't irl. If I'm being honest 10k hours is probably much lower than reality.
@@m.z6610 I just realized I didn't really answer your question in full. I can find LK super chests without maphack, I intuitively know which places to run for specific uniques, I know that countess runs are trash if you're able to do Hell difficulty pit/LK runs. Hell I even know how to pop bodies so people drop all their gear when they die in PvP duels.
Easily my favorite game ever. Me and my friends lugging our PCs to the one friend that had high speed internet and playing all through the night. Those were the best times.
It sure was fun playing this game again, and finally complete it all the way for once. It was a blast runnning through it with you all. Maybe one of these days, I'll even do a Holy Grail run. But a certain Diablo 1 mod is taking that spot for me for the time being. Glad I was able to help out and hopefully the remaster will allow us to relive the joy we had before. I'll be ready to try it out once it hits. But until then, it's back to Diablo 1 for me :P
This game is a legendary masterpiece I was enthralled with as a kid and scoured through as a teenager. D3 was a fun disappointment but I'm very glad its now time to get back to the good stuff. Great music, voice acting, monsters and equipment. Beautiful.
Crazy coincidence - myself and a couple buddies installed D2 last night around 10pm, got onto battlenet and got to act 3 by 2am. We were having a blast.
I was 8 years old when Diablo II first came out, and I never actually beat it (managed to get to Act IV, but no further), but I remember absolutely LOVING the game, and my dad always used to sit with me when I played it, giving tips and secrets he'd figured out after playing it, himself. Good times, man...can't wait for Resurrected ^_^
Heh...I remember this game, solo played the whole thing several times, on every level of difficulty. Yeah Baal is a pain to beat, but I did it, first time was frustration inducing, but after that, eh, wasn't that bad. =^.^= Not that I had much choice, I did not have the luxury of the internet back then.
Ive been playing single player D2: Lord of Destruction with PlugY mod installed. (Which gives you an infinite stash). It's been 6 years and I have almost completed it. Gaining every item / runeword. Its been a fun and also frustrating adventure!
When Jirard started talking the keys, the body parts, and portals, it took me back to the Summer of 06 when Blizzard reintroduced Uber Diablo, changed the tower's boss, and other small tweaks that I can't remember, but I do remember wondering if I'd learn how to summon Uber Diablo and today I finally learned how lol
Man i was soo addicted to this game. I remember after beating it several times, i got into modding/hacking because everyone wanted that bright white armor look. Anyone else remember that? Hex editing your armor to make it a bright white?
I remember that and using jamelas editor to make insane items for open battle net. I had an armor that cast every spell when I hit something lol it lagged my game pretty hard to the point of crashing so I hard to change it.
As someone who grew up playing d2 and was super hype for d3, only to be disappointed. D2 is the definitive diablo experience and there's no doubt in my mind the remake is gonna blow d3 out of the water on all fronts
Great video. One of my closest friends and I just recently completed it in hell mode after going through normal and nightmare. What a crazy ride it was, both nearing level 80 in the end.
Diablo 2 is still an all-time favourite of mine. It does nothing to call off my fatwah against Activision Blizzard, but it is still a classic game. I even still have the CDs for the main game AND its excellent expansion Lord of Destruction. As for who my favourite class was in that game, it would have to be the Necromancer. That pasty priest of Rathma was my first introduction to a playstyle revolving around summons, and has since influenced me towards classes that use summons. It drove me to choose Occultist as one of the jobs for my main in Grim Dawn. (the second job I chose on my main, since Grim Dawn lets you dual-class a'la Titan Quest, was Demolitionist, because I like da big boom too)
I know Blizz is kinda...well crap lately, but remember thats on the corporate side and the devs who made this game, and even current blizz games are not the corporate overlords they work for. You did an amazing service showing off D2 and im fighting the urge to hop back in myself!
What are you talking about? You don't need multiplayer to beat this game. I did it (in Hell mode) sevral times with several characters. It's totally doable
Years ago, I Solo-ed Hell difficulty with a Fire/Ice Sorceress. Only took me 15 years. (Also got to Hell Ancients with Fire Druid and Hell Diablo with a Bowazon, but haven't finish them as yet). So it can be done, but damn is it hard. In Hell difficulty, the Sorceress is such a glass cannon, she can take maybe 1-2 hits and she's down and with the Fetishes of Act3 and the Imps of Act5, that means a lot, lot, lot of dodging. As far as I know, the Pandemonium Event is multiplayer only, so you will miss that running Solo
Great video! Love to see these ones where you talk about games you're very passionate about. It was also cool to learn new things about the game. I stopped playing before the keys and the Ubers; I had no idea about them until seeing this video. Thank you for that!
Like most men in my age group, I too spent countless hours slaying demons as a kid. I still have my copy of the Diablo Battle Chest. I remember it fondly, and still play it on occasion.
Hey Jirard, if you haven't ever played/completed Skies of Arcadia: Legends I think you would enjoy it, even if you didnt want to feature it on the channel. It is one of the best jrpgs the gamecube has to offer and there are a ton of optional boss fights and collectables tied to meaningful loot, as well as a title system that gives you different titles that change how npcs interact with you based on how you play. Definitely one of the most underrated jrpgs ever
it's okay, those of us who grew up with Blizzard from their humble beginnings up until purchased by Activision, are fully aware of how great they used to be developing games out of passion and love of creating something fun to play with quality. it was a good time where it wasn't full of cash shops and profiting in shady ways until Diablo III arrived with the online auction house! All those people that we loved who made the first two games have left the company I by now and Activision blizzard is nothing. compared to the original Blizzard
I've said it before and I'll say it again: this show is at its absolute BEST when Jirard is tackling a game like this. One that he loves and his genuine hype for the game is infectious. Some of my favorite Completionist episodes of all time.
I could never get past the boss of Chapter 2 and gave up in defeat. Before that, it took me a year to get past the Claw Viper Temple. I was doing it solo player, not in a group, so that might have been the problem.

I'm excited for the remaster, thanks Jirard!
Fun fact, I’ve been playing Diablo 2 for 18 years and have only ever played single player. Multiplayer is weird to me. I’m just so used to the scary solitude of single player.
I actually have never found a key... didn’t even know that was a thing!! How cool!
I've dumped over 10k hours into D2 over the years.
I'm so hyped for the D2 remake.
Edit: Completing it solo is not at all impossible Jirard.
Right? There's literally a new hell speed run daily where people complete all 3 difficulties solo in like half a work day.
@@TheRealAtello All it really takes is an intimate familiarity with the game and off you go.
The earliest I've ever been to a completionist video :)
This game was the ISH back then miss games like this
And the 🐄 level
"MOO"
Return of the King is *hella* accurate
I see what you did there... 😏
Ah the cow level ... memories
That music when you open Act 1 still gives me chills.
This game is a legendary masterpiece I was enthralled with as a kid and scoured through as a teenager. D3 was a fun disappointment but I'm very glad its now time to get back to the good stuff. Great music, voice acting, monsters and equipment. Beautiful.
This is the first game I ever seen my mom play. Ill forever cherish it
My immediate thought when I saw this was, "No way he did a grail." Jirard would be crazy enough to go for it but it's a crazy task.
That was my first thought too, and we were correct :)
Crazy coincidence - myself and a couple buddies installed D2 last night around 10pm, got onto battlenet and got to act 3 by 2am. We were having a blast.
Diablo: Not even death can save you from me!
The Completionist: (grin) Challenge accepted!...now somebody hold my beer!
FOXXO DETECTED
Eh with the help of friends tho
I was 8 years old when Diablo II first came out, and I never actually beat it (managed to get to Act IV, but no further), but I remember absolutely LOVING the game, and my dad always used to sit with me when I played it, giving tips and secrets he'd figured out after playing it, himself. Good times, man...can't wait for Resurrected ^_^
Heh...I remember this game, solo played the whole thing several times, on every level of difficulty. Yeah Baal is a pain to beat, but I did it, first time was frustration inducing, but after that, eh, wasn't that bad. =^.^=
Not that I had much choice, I did not have the luxury of the internet back then.
Ive been playing single player D2: Lord of Destruction with PlugY mod installed. (Which gives you an infinite stash). It's been 6 years and I have almost completed it. Gaining every item / runeword. Its been a fun and also frustrating adventure!
I think the HC Diablo 2 was one of my first experiences of you, Jirard. That was a HUGE nostalgia trip for me
When Jirard started talking the keys, the body parts, and portals, it took me back to the Summer of 06 when Blizzard reintroduced Uber Diablo, changed the tower's boss, and other small tweaks that I can't remember, but I do remember wondering if I'd learn how to summon Uber Diablo and today I finally learned how lol
@@MrPeckersmith JAMELLA ohh mannn that takes me back...The lag was REAL
Oh my god what a throwback, I was just thinking of that program the other day.
This hit the nostalgia nerve hard! I remember me and my brother as small kids cheering my dad on while his barbarian bulldozed enemies.
I’m pretty stoked for D2: Resurrection. I’ve never played it but I loved D3 and always wanted to play D2 but I don’t have a pc
As someone who grew up playing d2 and was super hype for d3, only to be disappointed. D2 is the definitive diablo experience and there's no doubt in my mind the remake is gonna blow d3 out of the water on all fronts
Never thought this would be my kind of game, but now I might check it out. Thanks Jirard!
I miss my Dual-wielding, leaping-into-mobs, ice-damage-reflecting, and electric-aoe barbarian build
Great video. One of my closest friends and I just recently completed it in hell mode after going through normal and nightmare. What a crazy ride it was, both nearing level 80 in the end.
Nearing? Dayum! i needed to reach 80+ before i could beat Normal
I see a Completionist video, I watch. Here's a comment for Mr. Rithm
(the second job I chose on my main, since Grim Dawn lets you dual-class a'la Titan Quest, was Demolitionist, because I like da big boom too)
A lot of rewinds recently. The 400th episode is probably gonna be a big one. My guess is Witcher 3.
I thought it was coming at the end of March. Weird.
I know Blizz is kinda...well crap lately, but remember thats on the corporate side and the devs who made this game, and even current blizz games are not the corporate overlords they work for. You did an amazing service showing off D2 and im fighting the urge to hop back in myself!
Hey look, something to watch while I farm uniques!
Mrllamasc is an entertaining, informative and personally wholesome channel for people who are interested in D2 content. It's his main gig.
didnt knew you gamed Blizz games
What are you talking about? You don't need multiplayer to beat this game. I did it (in Hell mode) sevral times with several characters. It's totally doable
Makes me wanna get on GOG to buy it now.
Diablo 2 isn't available on GOG, only Diablo 1 is.
I played D2 as a young teen and put HUNDREDS of hours into it. What a heckin amazing experience
Damnit, now I need to start a new character.
Same. 🤣
My favorite game growing up and, like you said, incredibly special to me. Thanks for this and hope we can play multiplayer in Diablo 2: Resurrected.
"Endless crafting"
Oh right the cube did a thing
If you want more D2 check out Project d2 or for something more extreme, Median Xl. Both are excellent mods
Jokes on you, Jirard. I'm not having any kids!
Me who’s forgotten how to ride a bike 3 or 4 times
How many times were you dropped as an infant?

Great video! Love to see these ones where you talk about games you're very passionate about. It was also cool to learn new things about the game. I stopped playing before the keys and the Ubers; I had no idea about them until seeing this video. Thank you for that!
Sorry, my first-what? Oh, nothing? Okay, thought you said something.
I wonder if the Diablo II remake will be more of the same like most video game remakes. But seriously, it looks very fun as hell!
I miss “Glitches with old man Snitches.”
Yea, some sort of reference would have been nice.
Like most men in my age group, I too spent countless hours slaying demons as a kid. I still have my copy of the Diablo Battle Chest. I remember it fondly, and still play it on occasion.
Better enjoy this game until the new version comes out and replaces this version.
Awesome video, makes me want to replay it again! :)
The return if a king sounds accurate
This was my first PC game (I was more for consoles back then), and I cannot be more excited for the remaster. Great episode. Good memories
I used to watch my uncle farm Baal on repeat with his hammerdin when I was young, it got me into playing RPGs, got nothing but love for this game!
I still get goose bumps when I hear the original Tristram theme or the music/sound from Diablo 1s' dungeons.
Thumbs up and subscribed just for the intro and the passion to the game ❤️
Hey Gerard I have to ask it even though it's a little late you gonna re complete the re master when it comes out?
Just bought the Battlebox, for the 4th time, about a year ago. I will NEVER stop playing this game.
It is, easily, one of the best games ever made and my personal 2nd favorite game of all time.
I've never really played this myself, but saw my friends play it enough that it was a fun episode for me to watch anyway.
